How to Host an All in One: Create Modpack Server

By VGSources Team 10 min read

To host All in one: Create with friends, run a Minecraft Java server built from the exact modpack release and loader that every player installs. The current main file shown on CurseForge is “All in one: Create Forge 1.20.1 – v3.5,” associated with Minecraft 1.20.6 and uploaded July 28, 2026. Confirm that compatibility tuple on the release page before installing, because the pack name, Minecraft version, loader and release number must match on both sides.

You can host on your own computer or use a managed Minecraft host. Self-hosting gives you complete control and avoids a recurring hosting bill, but requires port forwarding, backups and maintenance. Managed hosting is simpler for a server that should stay online, provided the host supports the exact release and has the required server-pack installation method.

What All in one: Create includes

All in one: Create is a CurseForge pack by bananagod built around Create, Create add-ons, quality-of-life changes and other “fun mods.” CurseForge categorizes it as Tech, Small/Light, Multiplayer and Vanilla+. The project showed 432,227 downloads in a 2026 snapshot. Those labels describe the pack’s style, not a guaranteed hardware requirement.

The files page lists Forge and Fabric releases and six listed 1.20.x game-version entries. Forge and Fabric are different mod loaders: a Forge installation cannot use a Fabric release, and the two file sets are not interchangeable.

Use a complete compatibility tuple

Record these four values from the exact file you intend to run:

  • Modpack name and release number
  • Minecraft Java Edition version
  • Loader (Forge or Fabric)
  • Any server-pack or additional-file version supplied by the author

For the current main entry, the displayed tuple is Forge, v3.5, with the file labeled 1.20.1 and associated with Minecraft 1.20.6. That combination looks unusual, so do not “correct” it from memory; use the version metadata and installation notes shown for that release. Every client and the server must use the same tuple.

Decide between home hosting and a managed host

Factor Hosting at home Managed hosting
Setup Install Java, the server loader and files; configure networking yourself Provider panel usually installs a supported pack and exposes a console
Monthly cost No hosting-provider fee; electricity and internet costs vary Recurring price depends on provider, plan and region; no universal figure is established here
File and Java control Full control of files, Java executable and launch arguments Depends on the provider’s panel and allowed settings
Uptime Limited by your computer, power and internet connection Designed for persistent uptime, subject to the provider’s service
Backups You create and verify them Many plans offer automated backups; confirm retention and restore access
Port forwarding Normally required, unless you use a secure tunnel Usually not required because the provider exposes the server
Exact pack support Possible whenever you can install the correct server files Only if the host lists that release and supports its server-pack method

CurseForge explains that its hosted servers can install modpacks when a matching server pack exists, avoiding manual uploads and port forwarding. Modrinth hosting documents support for Minecraft Java Edition versions back to 1.2.5 and loaders including Forge, Fabric, Quilt and NeoForge. Those broad statements do not prove that a particular provider supports this pack’s current release. Before paying, ask the host to confirm the exact Minecraft version, loader, release number and whether installation uses an author-provided server pack.

What you need before installing

  • Minecraft Java Edition for each player and the server machine.
  • A Java runtime appropriate for the selected Minecraft release. The pack’s pages do not establish an author-specific Java version, so check the release instructions and loader documentation.
  • The exact CurseForge release for every player.
  • The official Minecraft Java server JAR. CurseForge’s Java multiplayer guidance directs users to that official JAR.
  • A dedicated server directory with write permission and enough free storage for the loader, mods, logs and world backups.
  • Administrator access to install software and, for home hosting, access to the router and firewall.

Do not download a random “latest” Forge or Fabric build and then copy this pack into it. Select the loader build named by the release and keep all files from one release together.

Self-hosting: complete setup

1. Install Java and prepare a directory

Install the Java runtime required by the chosen Minecraft release. Create a folder used only for this server, such as all-in-one-create-server. Keeping the world, configuration, mods, logs and backups together makes upgrades and rollback safer.

  • Craft all sorts of items from boats todiamond armor and create enormousstructures
  • Team up with friends in eight-playeronline multiplayer and four-player splitscreen modes

2. Obtain the server files

First check the pack’s CurseForge files page and its Additional Files section for an author-published server pack matching the exact release. A server pack is preferable because it should already separate server-compatible files from client-only content.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

If no matching server pack is published, follow the loader’s official server-install procedure for the exact Minecraft version. Add only server-compatible files from the same modpack release. Never combine a Forge mod directory with a Fabric release, copy mods from an older pack version, or add client-only optimization, graphics or menu mods to a dedicated server.

3. Install the loader or run the supplied script

Place the loader installer or the author’s launch script in the server directory. Run the installer’s server option, or use the supplied script exactly as documented. If you are launching manually, a typical command is java -jar server.jar nogui; replace server.jar with the actual filename supplied by the loader. The first launch normally creates libraries, configuration files and an EULA file. A script may already include required library paths and memory arguments, so do not replace it with a shorter command unless you understand what it does.

4. Accept the EULA

Stop the process after the first launch, open the generated eula.txt, read the Minecraft EULA and change the setting to eula=true only if you agree to it. Start the server again. If the file is regenerated or the server still reports that the EULA is not accepted, edit the copy in the directory from which the launch script is actually running.

5. Configure the server

After a successful start, stop the server cleanly from its console before editing configuration files. Set the following in server.properties or the relevant pack configuration:

  • TRUSTED BRAND: With over 130 years of experience, Ravensburger ensures top quality games that stimulate the mind, engage the hands, and touch the heart
  • Server address: Leave server-ip blank unless you have a specific multi-interface setup. Players normally connect using your public address or hostname.
  • Port: Keep the chosen port consistent with the router rule and the address you give players. The default Minecraft port is commonly used, but the pack does not require a special port.
  • View distance and simulation distance: Start conservatively and raise them only after checking tick times and CPU use.
  • Whitelist: Enable it for a private group, then add each player by name from the console.
  • Operator permissions: Grant operator status only to trusted administrators; operator access can change the world and server configuration.

Do not edit generated mod configuration files while the server is running. Stop first, keep a dated backup, then restart and inspect the log for errors.

6. Test locally

Join from the same machine using localhost, or from another computer on the same network using the server machine’s private address. Confirm that the world loads, Create blocks and recipes work, and no client-only mod error appears. Test a second player before opening the server to the internet.

7. Make it reachable from outside your home

For direct home hosting, forward the server port from your router to the server computer’s fixed private address, allow the Java process through the operating system firewall, and give friends your public address or a hostname. Router interfaces differ, so use the router manufacturer’s instructions. If your internet provider uses carrier-grade NAT or blocks inbound connections, ordinary port forwarding may not work; a reputable secure tunnel is an alternative. Do not expose unrelated administration ports, and keep the server and Java runtime patched.

What your friends must install

  1. Install Minecraft Java Edition and the launcher or modpack manager you use.
  2. Install the exact All in one: Create release, not merely a similarly named pack.
  3. Select the same Minecraft version and loader shown by the release. Forge and Fabric profiles cannot substitute for one another.
  4. Launch once with the pack to allow the client to create its configuration folders.
  5. Connect using the address and port you provide. A player on your home network should use the private address; internet players use the public address or hostname.

An “Incompatible mod set” message almost always indicates a mismatch in release, Minecraft version, loader or a dependency. Have the affected player remove the installation and reinstall the exact file listed on the CurseForge files page rather than copying individual mods until the error disappears.

Using a managed hosting provider

Check support before purchasing

Search the provider’s modpack catalog for the exact pack release and loader. A listing that says only “Forge supported” is not enough. Ask whether the provider has the author’s server pack, accepts a manual server-pack upload, or requires a specific import format. Also verify:

Install and test

Choose the exact release in the host panel, let the provider install it, and wait for the first boot to generate files. Accept the EULA through the panel or generated file as required. Set the whitelist, operator permissions, view distance and simulation distance, then connect with one client before inviting everyone. If the panel offers both client-pack and server-pack imports, choose the server-pack method for a dedicated server.

Managed hosting removes most router work, but it does not remove compatibility responsibility. If the provider installs a different loader build or pack release from the one on your clients, the server will fail in the same way as a home installation.

Forge and Fabric: when each is appropriate

Use Forge only with the Forge release published by the pack author and Fabric only with the Fabric release published by the author. The files page lists both families, including “All in one: Create Fabric 1.20.1 v1.3” alongside Forge entries. They have different loader libraries and mod builds. You cannot migrate a Forge world by swapping the loader directory and hoping the same mods load.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

If your group is choosing between them, select the release with complete client instructions and a matching server installation path. Do not choose based on the word “latest” alone; release numbers and Minecraft versions are part of the compatibility tuple.

Performance and resource planning

No reliable minimum-RAM figure is published for this exact pack, so any fixed number presented as a guaranteed requirement would be misleading. Actual performance depends on world size, Create machinery, entity counts, CPU speed, storage latency and concurrent players.

Measure the workload that matters

  • Watch server tick time while players operate large Create contraptions.
  • Check CPU saturation and single-thread performance, not only total memory usage.
  • Keep the world on fast local storage and leave free space for region files, logs and backups.
  • Use a modest view and simulation distance first, then increase one setting at a time.
  • Limit unnecessary entities and remove abandoned machines or chunk-loading setups.

On a home machine, avoid running the server on a computer that is already encoding video, hosting downloads or entering sleep mode. On a managed plan, move up a tier only after logs and measured tick times show that CPU, memory or storage is the bottleneck.

Troubleshooting common failures

Symptom Likely cause Action
“Incompatible mod set” when joining Different pack release, Minecraft version, loader or dependency Compare the complete tuple on client and server; reinstall the exact release from the files page
Server stops during startup Missing loader libraries, wrong Java runtime or client-only mods on the server Read the first error and its preceding lines in the startup log; rerun the loader’s official server installation and remove client-only files
Server starts but friends cannot connect Incorrect address, blocked firewall, missing port forwarding or carrier-grade NAT Test locally, verify the listening port, check the router and firewall, then determine whether the ISP permits inbound connections
World lags when machinery runs Large Create contraptions, entity counts, view distance or CPU limits Reduce simulation/view distance, inspect active machines and monitor tick time before changing memory settings
Update breaks the world Major version change or incompatible configuration Stop the server, restore the dated world/config/server-pack backup and test the update on a copy

When a crash log names a particular mod, compare that mod’s version with the exact pack file instead of downloading a newer standalone build. Modpack authors often pin dependency versions for compatibility.

Backups, upgrades and routine maintenance

Make a restorable backup

Before changing the pack, loader or Minecraft version, stop the server and copy the entire world directory, configuration files, mod list and server-pack files to dated storage outside the live directory. A backup is useful only if you can restore it, so periodically test by launching a copy under a separate directory.

Upgrade in a controlled order

  1. Read the target release notes and confirm its Minecraft version, loader and server-pack instructions.
  2. Announce a maintenance window and stop the current server cleanly.
  3. Create and label a full backup.
  4. Install the new server files in a separate directory, preserving the old directory for rollback.
  5. Copy the world only after the new installation starts successfully on a fresh test world.
  6. Join with a client on the identical release and test key Create machines, inventories and dimensions.
  7. Switch players to the new release only after the test succeeds.

Never overwrite the only working installation while experimenting. Keeping the previous directory and backup makes a failed update reversible.

Recommended path for most groups

For a small group with someone comfortable managing a router and backups, self-hosting is the lowest-cost and most flexible option: use the author’s matching server pack when available, otherwise follow the loader’s official server procedure and add only same-release server files. For a group that needs a persistent world without network administration, choose a managed host only after it confirms the exact All in one: Create release, loader and server-pack workflow. In either case, compatibility discipline and tested backups matter more than a generic “Forge server” label.
