To host Extra Origins for Minecraft Java Edition 1.19.2, run a matching Fabric server, start it once to generate its files, then place compatible copies of Fabric API, Origins, Pehkui and Extra Origins 1.19-2 in the server’s mods folder. Every player must use Minecraft 1.19.2, the Fabric loader family and a matching client mod set. Test origin selection in a temporary world before opening the SMP.

What you need for a 1.19.2 Extra Origins server
Extra Origins is an add-on for the Origins mod, not a standalone server mod. Origins supplies the origin-selection system; Extra Origins adds additional origin definitions and powers. The server and each connecting client must therefore agree on the Minecraft version, loader family and required mod versions.

The Extra Origins 1.19-2 file was uploaded July 17, 2022 according to its CurseForge listing. Treat the filename and the Minecraft range as compatibility information, not as permission to mix it with a different game version.

Choose how the SMP will run
Local self-hosting
A computer in your home or office runs the server process. You control the world files, backups, whitelist, logs and configuration directly. This is the most flexible option, but you are also responsible for keeping the process running, updating files, and making the server reachable to your players. Router and firewall settings vary by equipment and internet provider; verify the correct port procedure for your network rather than copying a setting from an unrelated guide.
Managed hosting
A managed provider runs the process in a control panel or container. This can simplify uptime, restarts and connectivity, but it adds a recurring provider cost and may limit the Java runtime, file access, mod installation method or backup controls. Confirm that the plan permits Fabric 1.19.2 and custom server-side jars before committing. No independent uptime figure or hardware requirement is established for this Extra Origins setup, so do not use an advertised host specification as a guarantee for your world.

Install the Fabric 1.19.2 server
- Create a clean server directory. Use a new folder dedicated to this SMP. Keeping it separate from other Minecraft instances prevents an old
modsfolder or world from being loaded accidentally. - Install the matching Fabric server. Select Minecraft 1.19.2 in the Fabric installer or the hosting control panel, and select the Fabric loader family your players will use. Do not choose 1.19.3, 1.19.4 or another nearby release simply because it is newer.
- Launch once with the generated server launcher. The first start creates the server directory structure, including the world and configuration files. The exact Java command and launcher filename depend on the installer and deployment environment, so use the command or start script produced for that installation.
- Stop the process cleanly. Wait until the server has finished writing files, then stop it from the console or hosting panel. Do not copy mods while the process is still running.
- Accept the EULA if required by the launcher. If the first launch creates an EULA file, follow the file’s stated procedure before starting again. This is separate from mod compatibility.
- Locate the server’s
modsdirectory. If it was not created automatically, create a folder named exactlymodsbeside the server launcher and world directory.
At this stage you have a vanilla Fabric 1.19.2 server structure. It should be possible to start and stop it before adding Extra Origins; doing that gives you a known-good baseline for later troubleshooting.

Add the required mod jars
Download files that explicitly target Minecraft 1.19.2 and Fabric (or a loader arrangement you have deliberately chosen). Place the jar files directly in the server’s mods directory; do not put them in a nested folder or leave them inside a zip archive.

- Stop the server.
- Copy all four required categories into
mods. - Remove duplicate copies of the same mod, especially older and newer builds of one jar.
- Start the server and watch the first dependency or version error in the log.
- If startup completes, stop it once more before inviting players so you can make a backup of the newly generated configuration and world.
Origins’ documentation describes the system as a Fabric mod that lets players choose an origin at the beginning of the game, with each origin granting benefits and drawbacks. Extra Origins extends that system rather than replacing it, which is why both jars are required.
Prepare every player’s client
A modded Fabric server does not make an unmodded client compatible automatically. Each player should create a separate Minecraft Java 1.19.2 installation and select the same Fabric loader family used by the server.

- Install or select Minecraft Java Edition 1.19.2 in the launcher.
- Install Fabric for 1.19.2 and launch that profile once to confirm the loader works.
- Place compatible copies of Fabric API, Origins, Pehkui and Extra Origins in the client’s
modsfolder. - Keep the client jar versions aligned with the server. “Almost the same” is not a compatibility policy: compare the filenames and release targets directly.
- Launch the Fabric profile and connect only after the server has started successfully.
Players may have additional client-only performance or interface mods, but introduce those one at a time. When diagnosing a rejection, first reduce the client to the required set so that an unrelated mod cannot obscure the dependency error.
Verify the installation with a test world
Before opening the world to the whole group, make a temporary test world. This catches origin, data-pack and progression issues without risking the SMP’s shared save.
- Start the server with the four required mod categories installed.
- Connect with a clean 1.19.2 Fabric client containing the same required set.
- Create or enter a temporary world and confirm that the origin-selection screen appears at the expected point in your chosen progression.
- Select one origin and test its defining ability, drawback, diet or size change.
- Try a second player connection if possible; check that both players can see each other’s altered size or effects and that no disconnect occurs.
- Stop the server, copy the test world or take a backup, and only then load or create the production SMP world.
Origins supports configurable powers and allows new origins through data packs. If you add a data pack, test it in the temporary world before applying it to the live save. A data pack can change the practical balance of an origin even though the four required jars remain unchanged.

The exact in-game presentation and balance can depend on the mod build and any data packs. Use the test world to confirm behavior rather than promising a mechanic that your installed files do not provide.

- Duplicate origins: Decide whether two or more players may choose the same origin. Requiring unique origins increases variety; allowing duplicates reduces pressure when a group has a preferred play style.
- Origin changes: Decide whether a player may change after the initial selection, under what command or event, and whether a change consumes a resource or requires administrator approval.
- Death handling: Document whether death is ordinary survival death, whether an origin can be rerolled, and how accidental deaths during testing are restored.
- Nether access: Set a shared policy for when the Nether opens and whether Piglin players receive any special responsibilities or restrictions.
- Data packs: Record every enabled pack and keep a copy with the world backup. A later change to a power can alter an existing character’s progression.
- Administration: Keep the whitelist, operator permissions and backup schedule limited to trusted administrators. Do not use origin powers as a substitute for server permissions.

The right choice depends on whether your priority is control or convenience. In either case, preserve an independent copy of the world and configuration files; a provider dashboard is not a substitute for a backup you can restore elsewhere.

Change one variable at a time and read the first dependency or version error. Later messages are often consequences of the first failure.
The server reports an incompatible Minecraft version
- Check the server’s reported game version and confirm it is 1.19.2, not 1.19.3 or 1.19.4.
- Check the client profile selected in the launcher.
- Remove jars targeting another Minecraft release, then reinstall the 1.19.2 files.
A dependency is missing
- Read the named dependency in the log.
- Confirm that Fabric API, Origins, Pehkui and Extra Origins are all present on the side named by the error.
- Check that the jar is in the top level of
mods, not in a downloaded archive or nested directory. - Restart after correcting only that dependency.
The client is rejected even though the server starts
- Compare the client and server Minecraft versions.
- Confirm Fabric is installed on both sides.
- Compare every required jar and remove duplicate or newer files.
- Temporarily remove optional client mods and retry with only the required set.
Origin selection appears, but a power behaves incorrectly
- Reproduce the behavior in the temporary world.
- Check whether a data pack changes the power or condition.
- Confirm that the server and clients are using the same Extra Origins, Origins and Pehkui builds.
- Record the exact origin, trigger and result before changing configuration; this makes it possible to identify a version-specific behavior instead of guessing.
The server stops during startup
- Stop changing files and save the complete log.
- Use the first Fabric dependency, class-loading or version error as the starting point.
- Remove the most recently added jar or duplicate, then test again.
- Restore the last known-good mod set if the problem persists.
The precise Java-runtime and Fabric-Loader build matrix, as well as router and hosting-provider port settings, must be verified for the deployment environment you choose; they are not established by the project information used for this guide.
Backups and controlled updates
Back up before changing any mod, data pack or world setting. At minimum, preserve the world directory, the server configuration files, the mods list and a text record of the loader and Minecraft versions. Keep one copy outside the live server directory so a failed update cannot overwrite both copies.
When updating, clone the live installation to a test directory, apply the change there and connect with a matching client. Check origin selection, at least one power from each origin your group uses, and a save-and-restart cycle. Only replace the live files after the test world loads successfully. Never delete the old jars until the new world has been backed up and the rollback plan is known.
How widely the project is used
CurseForge displayed approximately 9.5 million total Extra Origins downloads when accessed on October 14, 2026, and approximately 1.7 million downloads for extraorigins-1.19-2.jar. These are volatile counters that change over time, not a performance, compatibility or uptime guarantee. They also do not remove the need to match every jar to Minecraft 1.19.2.
