After six-star raids are unlocked, look on your map for a black raid icon surrounded by a purple aura. Game8 identifies that as the six-star marker. Nintendo confirms that raid-crystal locations appear on the map and that black-crystal raids have a distinct appearance, but the official sources reviewed do not specify the purple-aura detail.
How to spot a six-star Tera Raid
- Open the map: Press Y to see available Tera Raid crystal locations.
- Look for the marker: Game8 describes a black raid icon with a purple aura as the six-star indicator. The Pokémon Company confirms that black-crystal raids have a special appearance and a different map display from ordinary crystals, but does not document the purple aura as the star-rating rule.
- Visit the crystal if you want to open its raid menu: Approach it and press A. Nintendo documents this as the way to open the menu; its instructions do not establish that the menu displays the raid’s star rating.
Sources: Nintendo Support; The Pokémon Company; Game8.
Why six-star raids may not appear
Six-star raids must be unlocked before their markers appear in your own game. Game8 describes the sequence as completing the Ace Academy Tournament and then clearing about 8–10 raids rated four stars or higher. That count is Game8’s estimate, not an official fixed threshold. After enough raids, the guide says Jacq calls to announce six-star raids.
The Pokémon Company says access to black-crystal raids requires completing post-ending events, but its guidance does not give Game8’s specific sequence or raid count. If you have finished the postgame and still do not see a six-star marker, check that you have completed the unlock steps described in the guide.

Can you join another player’s six-star raid without unlocking it?
Yes. The Pokémon Company says players who have not completed the relevant post-ending events can still join certain black-crystal raids in multiplayer or with a link code. This exception allows joining another player’s raid; it does not mean six-star raids are unlocked on your own map.
