If Guns of Eschaton is running at low FPS or stuttering, first check whether graphics auto-detection set the game to Epic. An official Steam Community notice says this is happening to many players, including those on lower-end hardware, and is causing performance problems. Lower the graphics preset and compare performance in the same scene; this is a sensible first test, not a guaranteed fix.
Check which version you are playing, too: the full game and the standalone demo have separate Steam listings. The demo was released on October 5, 2026, while the full game’s Steam listing says it is not yet available.
Lower the graphics preset if auto-detection chose Epic
The official Guns of Eschaton Steam Community notice says: “We’re aware that graphics auto-detection isn’t working correctly right now. It sets many players to Epic settings even on lower-end hardware, which causes low FPS and performance issues.” The notice does not name a specific speaker or patch, recommend a particular replacement preset, or quantify a performance gain.
- Open the game’s graphics settings and see whether the overall preset is set to Epic.
- If it is, select a lower overall preset. The notice does not specify which one, so start with a lower option and adjust further if needed.
- Compare FPS and stuttering in the same scene or encounter before and after the change. Keep resolution and other settings the same for this comparison, and note the preset you used.
This comparison is a way to diagnose your own setup, not a developer-published benchmark. If the problem continues, the result can still help distinguish a change in graphics load from a symptom that persists across presets.

Use the table as a compatibility reference, not as a diagnosis by itself. Meeting the listed requirements does not establish a specific FPS target, and being below one does not reveal which component is responsible for a particular stutter. If the game is installed on a hard drive, the listing’s SSD requirement makes the installation drive worth checking; it does not show that a faster SSD will raise FPS or resolve every stutter.

Identify the version and collect useful details if the problem remains
Because the demo and full game have separate Steam listings, identify which one you are running before comparing reports or looking for version-specific guidance. The demo listing gives October 5, 2026 as its release date. The full-game listing currently says the game is not yet available on Steam. Release status can change.
If lowering the preset does not help, report the issue through the game’s official community channels with details that make the problem easier to understand:

The official notice establishes the Epic auto-detection problem, but it does not prescribe driver changes, configuration edits, launch options, or overlay settings. Avoid treating those as confirmed fixes for this specific issue.
