To improve frame rate in Star Wars: Galactic Racer, first check that your PC meets the published requirements, then compare performance in the same scene while changing one graphics option at a time. To reduce input lag, check the game’s actual control and display options and test them against your setup; there is no verified title-specific best preset, target FPS, or measured latency result to promise. The game launched October 6, 2026, for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. StarWars.com announced the launch platforms and date.
First, identify what feels wrong
Low frame rate, intermittent stutter, delayed control response, and online lag can feel similar, but they have different causes. A low average FPS means the game is producing fewer frames overall. Stutter is better reflected by inconsistent frame times or weak 1% lows. Input latency is the time from pressing a control to seeing the response. If opponents teleport or multiplayer state arrives late, investigate the network separately: Steam lists Online PvP and cross-platform multiplayer, but no official title-specific network troubleshooting instructions are established.
On PC, use a repeatable race or scene as your baseline. Keep resolution and other settings fixed, and note average FPS and 1% lows if your overlay supports them. NVIDIA defines average FPS as frames per second averaged over a run; 1% low FPS averages the slowest one percent of frames and helps show consistency. A 1% low closer to the average generally indicates a steadier experience.
Check whether your PC meets the listed requirements
Steam’s 2026 store listing publishes these PC requirements. They are component requirements, not benchmark results: “minimum” does not guarantee a particular resolution, graphics quality, or frame rate.

| Minimum | Windows 10; Intel Core i5-8400 or AMD Ryzen 5 2600; 12 GB RAM; NVIDIA RTX 2060, Intel Arc A580, or AMD Radeon RX 5600 XT 6 GB; 50 GB free space; SSD required. |
| Recommended | Intel Core i7-10700 or AMD Ryzen 7 3700X; 16 GB RAM; NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 Ti, Intel Arc B580, or AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT. Steam does not state separate recommended storage or operating-system values in this list. |
Source: Valve’s Steam listing for Star Wars: Galactic Racer. Epic’s 2026 listing independently gives the same minimum CPU, RAM, GPU, storage, and SSD requirement, while its recommended fields were marked TBC when inspected: Epic Games Store listing.
Compare your CPU, memory, graphics card, operating system, and storage with the relevant listing. If your PC is below minimum, expect that performance may be limited; do not assume a single setting change will bring it to a particular FPS. Close unusually demanding background tasks before a test so the comparison is less confounded. Confirm the game is installed on an SSD, as Steam lists an SSD as required.

How to get more FPS or reduce stutter on PC
Establish a baseline
- Choose a repeatable race or scene and use the same resolution and conditions for each run.
- Record the graphics settings, average FPS, and 1% lows if a compatible overlay provides them.
- Change one visual option that is actually present in your game’s settings, then repeat the same scene.
- Keep the change only if the comparison improves the result you care about without an unacceptable loss of image clarity or smoothness.
No verified source establishes the game’s exact graphics options, presets, or best settings. Use only controls visible in your installed build; do not assume it has ray tracing, DLSS, FSR, frame generation, or any particular performance preset. If a build does expose a scaling or frame-generation option, assess it separately: displayed frames are not automatically equivalent to lower input latency.
Read the numbers as different measures
Average FPS describes throughput, while 1% lows help describe consistency and stutter. Neither alone tells you the full time between a control input and the image appearing on screen. NVIDIA’s PC latency metric, where supported by a compatible title and setup, measures the average time from a PC receiving input to a frame being sent to the display; it is reported in milliseconds and excludes mouse and monitor display latency. See NVIDIA’s FrameView metric definitions and compatibility notes.

How to reduce input lag on PC
Input-to-display response passes through several stages: the input device, operating system and game, rendering, and display presentation. A change that improves one stage may not fix another. NVIDIA’s general latency guide explains the PC-side pipeline and offers vendor guidance, but it is not a tested Galactic Racer configuration.
- Check the game’s settings first. If your build explicitly offers a low-latency option, test it and compare response. NVIDIA recommends Reflex when a game supports it, but no cited source confirms Galactic Racer supports Reflex.
- Test display mode and V-Sync conditionally. NVIDIA recommends fullscreen where possible and notes that V-Sync can trade tearing for additional latency. Turning V-Sync off may reduce that latency but can introduce tearing. Variable-refresh-rate support can change the tradeoff, so compare the result on your own display rather than treating either setting as a universal fix.
- Separate device preference from latency claims. Epic lists controller support and a gamepad as an additional PC input device. TechRadar’s October 2026 PS5 review reports controller remapping and toggleable controls; those are customization options, not demonstrated latency cures. A wired USB game controller for PC is an optional choice if you prefer a gamepad, not an established performance fix.
What console players can try
For PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, use the display’s game mode if available and check the console’s output and display configuration. These are general troubleshooting checks, not a verified Galactic Racer-specific performance mode or guaranteed gain. The available listings and launch review do not establish console frame-rate targets or selectable performance and quality modes. TechRadar’s review covers a PS5 version and reports visual and control customization, but does not provide a title-specific latency measurement or performance recipe: TechRadar’s October 2026 review.

When the problem is online lag
If the car responds normally in local play but opponents jump, teleport, or update late online, do not treat that as proof of low FPS or controller input lag. Check connection stability separately. Steam identifies Online PvP and cross-platform multiplayer for the game, but the sources here do not provide official network troubleshooting steps or a specific latency threshold.
What is and is not confirmed
Current cited material confirms PC requirements and the existence of some visual and control customization options. It does not establish a game-specific performance preset, target frame rate, Reflex support, console performance mode, or measured input latency. The official Star Wars: Galactic Racer news page does not provide a performance guide or benchmark. Treat settings advice above as controlled troubleshooting, not a promise of a particular FPS or response time.
