The Chubby Chipmunk historically gained weight through its own passive: it ate an eligible fruit from your garden and grew heavier. But a community-maintained Grow a Garden wiki says that weight gain stopped after the event ended, so the old method may no longer work in the live game. Check the current event state and latest game updates before spending time trying to grow it.
How the Chubby Chipmunk gained weight
During the Chubby Chipmunk event, the pet’s passive occasionally ate a random eligible fruit in the player’s garden and added weight. The community-maintained Chubby Chipmunk wiki page says it ignored favorited fruit and single-harvest fruit. This was the pet’s passive behavior, not a player-controlled option to feed it a chosen fruit directly.
Why the old method may not work now
The same wiki page reports that the passive stopped adding weight after the event ended. That is a community-wiki account, not confirmed developer documentation, and the available information does not establish that the event mechanic is active in the current game. Check the in-game event state or the latest update notices before relying on it.
A separate community-edited Update Log for version 1.26.0, dated October 4, 2025, describes Nutty Fever as making the ability trigger every 30 seconds during the event. That interval belongs to the event context; it should not be treated as a permanent cooldown or a current weight-gain method. The event log also describes a free chipmunk and rewards tied to weight milestones, but it does not establish current event access or availability.

Shortcuts that are not established
- Levelup Lollipop: The Chubby Chipmunk wiki page says it does not change the pet’s weight or passive cooldown, so it is not a shortcut to a heavier chipmunk.
- Direct fruit feeding: The described method is the pet’s passive eating a random eligible garden fruit; the source does not describe a way to feed it a chosen fruit directly.
- Mutations and offline progress: The available sources do not establish whether Mega or Giant Bean mutations affect event weight, or whether the pet gains weight while the player is offline. Do not assume either works without checking current game information.
Weight limit reported by the wiki
The Chubby Chipmunk wiki page reports that the passive stops adding weight at about 50 kg. It also notes small reported overages of 0.01–0.03 kg in some cases. These are community-wiki figures, not an official published statistic, and may be patch-sensitive.

What to do in the game
- Check whether the Chubby Chipmunk event or its relevant mechanics are currently available in your game.
- If the passive is active, place the pet in your garden and allow it to operate; historically, it ate random eligible fruit on its own.
- Do not count on Nutty Fever’s historical 30-second interval unless the current event or update information confirms it applies.
- Watch the pet’s displayed weight rather than relying on an old event guide or assuming a leveling item will increase it.
