Increase engram points on an ARK server by editing the server-side Game.ini file. Under [/script/shootergame.shootergamemode], add one OverridePlayerLevelEngramPoints= entry for every configured player level, in level order. Save the file with the override list at the very end, restart the server, and verify the result with a test survivor.
Godlike.Host offers hosted ARK: Survival Evolved servers with its own game panel, SFTP access and free DDoS protection, if you would rather not host it yourself.
What the engram override changes
Engram points are the currency survivors spend to permanently unlock crafting recipes. In standard multiplayer progression, a survivor may reach the available level cap without earning enough points to learn every recipe. Raising the per-level award lets an administrator decide how many recipes players can unlock and how quickly they gain access to them.

1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsOverridePlayerLevelEngramPoints sets the award for each level rather than applying one global multiplier. The first line is used for the first configured player level, the second line for the second level, and so on. Because the game reads the entries as an ordered list, a complete list is more reliable than a few lines intended to cover only early levels.
The setting changes the progression defined by the server. It does not automatically select which recipes a player learns, remove prerequisites, or alter the resource cost of crafting. Those are separate configuration or gameplay decisions.

Before editing the server
- Stop the server. Editing while the process is running can leave the old configuration in memory or allow the host panel to overwrite your changes.
- Back up the existing file. Keep a copy of
Game.iniso you can restore the previous progression if the server fails to start or the balance feels wrong. - Identify the edition. Confirm whether the server runs ARK: Survival Evolved or ARK: Survival Ascended. Their configuration layouts and provider panels can differ, so do not assume that a path copied from another edition is correct.
- Know the intended maximum level. You need one value for each configured player level. If you change the level cap later, extend the list to match it.
- Use the server copy, not a client copy. A
Game.iniinside your local game installation does not control a remote multiplayer server.
Find the correct Game.ini file
The usual location is:
ShooterGame/Saved/Config/<server>/Game.ini
For a Linux server, one documented example is:
/ShooterGame/Saved/Config/LinuxServer/Game.ini
The folder name represented by <server> depends on the server platform and hosting provider. A managed host may expose the file through a web control panel instead of direct file access. Open the configuration belonging to the running instance, especially if the account contains separate development, test, or production servers.
Some panels display an editable text area while also keeping a physical file on disk. After saving, compare the panel’s value with the live file if you have shell or file-manager access. A correctly edited file that is not the one loaded at startup will have no effect.
Add the override list
Insert the section header
If Game.ini is empty, begin with the section header exactly as shown:
[/script/shootergame.shootergamemode]
If that section already exists, add the entries inside it rather than creating a misspelled variant. The brackets, slash, capitalization, and spelling all matter.

Add one integer per level
Each entry is a whole-number award for one level. This short example gives 10 points at the first level, 20 at the second, and 30 at the third:
[/script/shootergame.shootergamemode]
OverridePlayerLevelEngramPoints=10
OverridePlayerLevelEngramPoints=20
OverridePlayerLevelEngramPoints=30
Replace those illustrative values with your own progression. The first line corresponds to the first configured player level; it is not a label for “level 10.” Do not add a level number, comma, space-separated list, or quotation marks to the value.
Keep the list last
Place the final OverridePlayerLevelEngramPoints line at the end of Game.ini. Do not put another setting, comment, or blank line after the list. Nodecraft’s configuration guidance specifically warns that the engram override list must be the very last content in the file. Keeping it last also makes it easier to spot accidental truncation or a second conflicting section.
Provide every intended level
The official option reference describes the value as an integer and requires repeating the setting for every player level. Build the list through the maximum level your server actually uses, in uninterrupted order. If your server has 100 configured levels, prepare 100 entries; three sample lines are not a complete configuration for a 100-level server.

Choose a progression that fits your server
There is no universal correct award. The useful question is how many points players should have accumulated by each milestone and what that does to crafting choices. Decide the target total first, then distribute points across the levels instead of choosing a number in isolation.
| Progression style | How the entries are arranged | Advantages | Trade-offs |
|---|---|---|---|
| Constant award | The same integer appears at every level, such as 20, 20, 20, 20. | Simple to calculate, explain, and maintain when the level cap changes. | Early levels may feel too generous or too slow because the pace never changes. |
| Gradual curve | Small awards early, larger awards later, or the reverse, according to your server’s milestones. | Lets you control when advanced crafting becomes affordable in engram points. | Requires checking cumulative totals and maintaining more individual values. |
| Single-player-style target | A custom list designed to approximate the total available in a single-player setup. | Solo players can cover more crafting roles without relying on a tribe. | It can reduce the intended multiplayer scarcity and may make progression easier than your server design expects. |
| Role-focused progression | Award levels are selected around the recipes needed for builders, tamers, cavers, or industrial specialists. | Supports a deliberate community or role-play economy. | Players who change roles later may find that their earlier choices were restrictive. |
Compare cumulative totals, not just per-level values
Add the entries from level one through each milestone to calculate the total points available at that point. A constant 10-point award for 50 levels produces 500 cumulative points; a list that starts at 5 and ends at 20 can produce a very different experience even if its average is similar. Check totals at the early-game, mid-game, and maximum-level milestones before publishing the change.

More points can let one survivor learn gathering, building, weapons, farming, and industrial recipes alone. That may be exactly what a cooperative or casual server needs, but it can remove meaningful specialization on a competitive or role-focused server.
Historical figures are reference points, not current rules
Nodecraft reported an example in a 2020 article updated March 23, 2020, in which a survivor had 4,441 engram points by level 140 while more than 7,000 points were needed for the vanilla recipes. Its documented single-player-matching example reached 8,196 total points. Those numbers describe the game versions and assumptions covered by that article; they are not universal current totals for every ARK edition, map, downloadable content combination, or altered level cap. Use them only as historical context when setting your own target.

Complete configuration procedure
- Stop the ARK server from the hosting panel or service manager and wait until its status shows that it is offline.
- Open the server-side file at
ShooterGame/Saved/Config/<server>/Game.ini, or the equivalent editor supplied by your host. - Make a backup of the original file before changing any text.
- Locate or create the section
[/script/shootergame.shootergamemode]. If the file is empty, place the header on the first line. - Enter the ordered list using one
OverridePlayerLevelEngramPoints=<integer>line for every configured player level. Put the first level’s value first, the second level’s value second, and continue through the intended cap. - Move the list to the end of
Game.ini. Remove any settings or blank lines that follow it. - Save the file in the server panel or file manager. If the provider has both a text editor and a generated settings form, confirm that the save operation updates the file used by the server.
- Restart the server and wait for it to finish loading before connecting.
Verify the change in game
Join with a test survivor rather than judging the result from the configuration text alone. Inspect the engram-point total at several levels: an early level, a middle level, and a level near the cap. This confirms both the beginning and the end of the list are being read in the intended order.

The server gives the vanilla number of points
- Confirm that the server was stopped before editing and restarted after saving.
- Check that you edited the remote server’s
Game.ini, not a local client file. - Verify the section header is exactly
[/script/shootergame.shootergamemode]. - Check that every value is an integer with no extra punctuation or spaces inside the key name.
- Compare the live file with the hosting panel’s configuration view; a panel may regenerate the file from a different source.
- Confirm that the server is loading the path you edited and that there is not a second instance with a similar name.
Only early levels have the new values
Count the override lines and compare that count with the configured player-level count. The entries are positional, so deleting one line in the middle shifts every later value upward. Restore the missing line and recheck the sequence from the beginning.
The configuration disappears after a restart
Some managed panels rewrite configuration files when the server starts or when a settings form is saved. Reopen the file after the restart. If your entries are gone, use the provider’s raw-file editor or the panel’s documented custom-configuration field, then save that source instead of editing a generated copy.

- Compatible with Wide Screens - To ensure compatibility with the dual monitor mount, your each monitor must meet three conditions at the same time: First, computer screens size range: 13 to 32 inches. Second, screen weight range: 4.4 to 19.8 lbs. Third, the back of the monitor screen must have VESA mounting holes with a pitch of 75x75mm or 100x100mm.
- Regarding the compatibility with desks - Your desk must meet three conditions at the same time: First, desk material: Only wooden desks are recommended, plastic or glass desks cannot be used. Second, desk thickness range: 0.59" - 3.54". Third, the bottom of the desk should not have any cross beams or panels, as this will interfere with installation. We recommend carefully checking that your desk and monitors meets all above conditions before purchasing.

Built-in cable management guides wires along the arms, keeping cords out of sight and out of the way. Enjoy a tidy, modern workstation that looks as good as it feels to use.
The server fails to load the file
Restore the backup, start the server, and then reapply the change gradually. Check for a damaged section header, an accidental non-numeric value, or a pasted character that the editor introduced. Keep the override block at the end and avoid adding unrelated settings while diagnosing the problem.
The values look correct but the survivor does not
Make sure you are connected to the intended server and testing a survivor created or leveled on that instance. Verify the server edition and map profile, then inspect the configuration again after the restart. A local single-player session will not read a remote server’s file.
Edition, host, and maintenance cautions
Configuration examples are not automatically interchangeable between Survival Evolved and Survival Ascended. Host-specific directory names, panel workflows, and update behavior can vary as well. Confirm the edition and provider path before applying a copied block.
Keep a dated backup whenever you change the list. If you raise or lower the level cap, recalculate the number of entries and review cumulative totals at the new maximum. When moving a world to another host, transfer the server configuration deliberately; do not assume that a fresh installation has imported the old Game.ini.
Shockbyte published its engram configuration guidance on November 10, 2024, and Nodecraft’s cited guidance was updated March 23, 2020. Their explanations support the file location, repeated-entry format, and end-of-file requirement, but the historical totals and edition assumptions should not be treated as a guarantee for a different current build.
