The supported ATLauncher workflow is Packs → select a modpack and exact version → Create Server → Install. The generated server then appears under Servers, where you can choose Launch or Launch & Close. On the first run, edit eula.txt and change eula=false to eula=true only after you accept Minecraft’s EULA. If Create Server is missing, that pack may not provide an ATLauncher-generated server and you will need the creator’s separate server files or instructions.

What you need before installing
An ATLauncher server is a separate installation from an ATLauncher client instance. Creating one does not automatically create the client instance you use to connect. Plan to install both: the server installation for hosting and an instance with the same modpack version for playing.

- The exact modpack release you want, including its Minecraft and modloader versions.
- A pack that supports server creation, or server files and instructions supplied by its creator.
- Permission to accept Minecraft’s EULA on the first startup.
- Access to the generated server folder if you need to edit Java or memory settings.
Do not assume that every release of a pack can run as a server. ATLauncher explicitly notes that not all modpacks support creating servers, and pack authors decide how server files are distributed and supported.
Install ATLauncher
Choose the package for your operating system
Install ATLauncher from its official distribution. The available formats include a Windows installer, Flatpak and other packages for Linux, a macOS ZIP archive, and a multiplatform JAR. The Windows installer can install a compatible Java version as part of setup. On other systems, make sure a Java installation suitable for the launcher and the selected pack is available according to the pack’s requirements.

Open the launcher
Start ATLauncher after installation and allow it to finish any initial setup. The launcher separates client instances from server installations, so the tab you need for the server workflow is Packs, not an existing instance’s settings.
Create the modpack server
- Open Packs. Use the pack list or search to find the modpack you want.
- Select the exact release. Packs can have multiple versions. Choose the release whose Minecraft version, modloader and included mods you intend to run. Treat this selection as part of the server configuration rather than a cosmetic label.
- Choose Create Server. When the pack supports ATLauncher server creation, the pack page provides a Create Server option.
- Name the server. Enter a name that identifies the installation. This name is used for the server entry in ATLauncher.
- Confirm the pack version and click Install. ATLauncher downloads and builds the server installation. Let the process finish before trying to launch it.
- Open the Servers tab. The new server should now be listed separately from your client instances.
If the server does not appear after installation, check that the installation completed without an error and that you are viewing Servers rather than Instances. The server and client are intentionally managed as separate entries.
Start the server and complete first-run setup
Launch from ATLauncher
In Servers, select the new installation and click Launch. You may also use Launch & Close if you want ATLauncher to close after handing the process off. Depending on the pack and your settings, ATLauncher can open a server GUI. Startup messages and failures may appear in a separate terminal, Command Prompt or PowerShell window, so keep that window visible instead of relying only on the launcher interface.
Accept the EULA
A first startup commonly stops after creating the server files and writing an EULA notice. Open the server folder and locate eula.txt. Read the terms. If you accept them, edit the line so it reads exactly:

eula=trueSave the file and launch the server again. Do not change the value unless you have accepted the EULA. If the file still says eula=false, the server will stop at the EULA check on every startup.
Create the client instance you will use to join
ATLauncher’s documentation distinguishes servers from instances: a server runs separately, and you must also create an instance to join a server. Return to Packs, select the same modpack release used for the server, and install a client instance. Matching the Minecraft version, modloader and pack release is essential; a client built from a different release may fail to connect or behave unpredictably.

Keep the server’s selected release recorded somewhere before creating the instance. If the pack has several loader or maintenance versions, match the complete version string rather than choosing the newest option by habit.
Control Java and memory settings
Use the generated launch script for non-CurseForge servers
For non-CurseForge server installations, Java and JVM arguments are stored in the generated launch script. Open the server folder and edit the appropriate file:

The JVM arguments are inside the script’s quoted variable. Make changes there when the pack’s documentation or your own troubleshooting identifies a Java or memory requirement. Preserve the surrounding quoting and the rest of the command so the script remains executable.
Do not apply the same edit to every pack
Exact Java versions, memory allocations and JVM flags vary by pack and by Minecraft or loader version. The available evidence does not establish one universal RAM number that is safe for every ATLauncher pack. Use the pack creator’s instructions when they specify Java or JVM settings, and change only the values relevant to that guidance.

CurseForge-origin packs
CurseForge packs may use creator-specific server instructions instead of the generic generated-script workflow. If the pack supplies a server script, read that documentation before editing LaunchServer.bat or LaunchServer.sh. The creator’s script may contain required arguments or file layout assumptions that a generic edit would remove.
When the Create Server button is missing
A missing Create Server option usually means the selected pack does not support ATLauncher’s automatic server creation. This is a compatibility and distribution decision made by the pack creator, not a button that can be enabled in launcher preferences.

Check the pack’s own server instructions
Look for a separate server download, a server bundle, or a creator-provided installation guide for the exact pack release. Follow those files and instructions instead of trying to convert a client instance into a server. Keep the Minecraft, modloader and pack versions aligned with the creator’s stated combination.

ATLauncher staff cannot control how pack creators distribute or support servers. If the pack has no Create Server button and no published server package or instructions, the creator is the appropriate source for support. Do not infer that a client-only pack can be made server-compatible simply by copying its instance folder.
Troubleshoot a server that will not launch
Read the terminal output
Start the server again and inspect the separate terminal, Command Prompt or PowerShell window. It often contains the first actionable error even when the launcher only reports that the process stopped. Record the first error and the versions shown around it before changing files.
Confirm the EULA value
Open the active server folder and verify that eula.txt contains eula=true after you accepted the terms. Editing an old or different folder will not affect the installation that ATLauncher is launching.

Verify every version in the chain
Check the Minecraft version, modloader version and modpack release on both the server and the client. A mismatch in any one of these can prevent startup or connection. Recreate or reinstall the server with the intended release if you selected the wrong version during setup.

Check creator-provided scripts
If the pack includes its own server script or JVM guidance, use that material as the authoritative setup for the pack. A generic launcher script edit may omit required arguments, and a creator’s instructions may require a particular Java version.
Review loader configuration
Loader definitions and versions are part of a pack’s configuration. Do not change the loader casually while diagnosing a server. ATLauncher’s documentation advises pack creators to fix the loader version before publishing a release; for a player, that means using the loader version bundled with the selected release unless the creator explicitly instructs otherwise.
Escalate with useful details
When asking for help, include the pack name and exact release, Minecraft version, modloader version, operating system, Java information, the launch script used, and the first relevant terminal error. This lets the pack creator distinguish a version mismatch from a Java, EULA or pack-script problem.

Self-hosting keeps the generated server on your own computer. A managed host moves the server process to a provider’s environment. Neither option removes the need to verify that the specific pack supports servers and that the host can run its required Minecraft, loader and Java combination.

Checks to make before choosing managed hosting
- Identify the exact pack release you intend to run.
- Confirm that release has a server distribution: an ATLauncher-created server or creator-supplied files.
- Match the Minecraft and modloader versions supported by the host.
- Verify the Java version options and whether the host permits the required JVM arguments.
- Check the available memory and how it is assigned to the server process; do not rely on a generic number because pack requirements differ.
- Confirm that you can upload the creator’s server files or launch script when the pack does not use ATLauncher’s standard server creation.
- Understand how to access logs, the server folder and backups so you can diagnose the same errors you would inspect locally.
A repeatable installation checklist
- Install the correct ATLauncher package for your operating system.
- Open Packs and select the intended modpack release.
- Use Create Server, name the server and click Install when the option is available.
- Open Servers and choose Launch or Launch & Close.
- Open the active server folder, read
eula.txt, and seteula=trueonly after accepting the EULA. - Watch the terminal, Command Prompt or PowerShell output during startup.
- Create a separate client instance using the same pack, Minecraft and modloader versions.
- Edit
