To install RenoDX for a game, install ReShade 6.8.0 or newer with full add-on support, download the RenoDX add-on listed for that specific game, place its matching .addon64 or .addon32 file beside ReShade in the game’s installation folder, then launch the game and press Home to open RenoDX controls. This is the shared setup path—not a guarantee that every game is supported or uses identical instructions.
Before installing: check the game’s RenoDX entry
RenoDX is an open-source framework that modifies DirectX game rendering through ReShade add-ons. Its project describes capabilities including HDR output, shader replacement, resource upgrades, overlays, and persistent graphics settings. The behavior and support status are game-specific, so start with the official RenoDX Mods list and open the entry for your exact game.
The community list distinguishes entries marked working or playable from those still in progress, and individual mod pages may give special installation directions. Its page metadata says it was last modified 30 September 2026. Check the current game entry before downloading, especially if it lists a separate executable path or other setup steps.
Choose a download build
Use the Snapshot, Nexus, or Discord download route shown on the relevant listing. The official page says snapshot builds may be more current than Nexus versions, but can be less stable. If both are offered, choose according to your preference for recency or stability rather than assuming one is universally best.

Install ReShade with add-on support
- Download and run ReShade. Select the game you intend to modify and install ReShade with full add-on support; the RenoDX instructions specify ReShade version 6.8.0 or newer.
- Confirm that the selected executable belongs to the intended game. The installer usually finds it automatically, but you can browse to it manually if needed. For an Xbox installation, the RenoDX instructions specify
gamelaunchhelper.exe.
ReShade is required because RenoDX uses the ReShade Add-on API. The framework’s developer build-tool instructions are for people building RenoDX, not a requirement for installing a prebuilt game add-on. See the RenoDX contribution documentation for that developer distinction.
Copy the RenoDX add-on into the game folder
- Download the add-on from the route linked on the game’s RenoDX listing, and read any instructions on that individual mod page.
- Locate the folder where ReShade was installed for that game. Copy the architecture-matched
.addon64or.addon32file into that folder. - Check that the add-on is beside the ReShade installation for the game. The folder where your browser saved the download is only the source location; leaving the file there will not install it.
You do not need a ReShade shader pack for this basic RenoDX add-on setup.

Open RenoDX controls in-game
Launch the game and press Home to open the ReShade menu. RenoDX settings are available from that menu. If the menu does not open, first confirm ReShade was installed for the executable you are launching and that the add-on file is in that game’s ReShade folder.
Troubleshoot washed-out HDR output
If the picture looks washed out, RenoDX’s installation guidance advises disabling Auto HDR and RTX HDR to avoid double tone mapping. Apply this adjustment when that symptom occurs; it is not a general requirement for every installation.

Do not apply another mod’s instructions by default
RenoDX’s official list also includes Unreal Engine Extended, a separate multi-game mod entry with its own HDR-path and upgrade-path settings, game-specific notes, and troubleshooting. Those directions are not automatically part of RenoDX Generic setup. Follow them only when the exact mod and game entry you are using calls for them.
