Your server and every player must use the same Antistasi release, and an administrator must log in with #login to create or load the campaign. The exact file paths and startup syntax vary by hosting provider and by Windows or Linux, but the sequence is the same.

What you need before installing
Antistasi is a persistent campaign mission for Arma 3, distributed as a mod and started through the Antistasi Community mission. It is not installed by copying a mission file alone: the server must load the Antistasi mod before that mission appears in the mission browser.

Prepare the Arma 3 dedicated server
Install and verify the server files
Follow Bohemia Interactive’s dedicated-server documentation for SteamCMD, the Arma 3 server executable, profiles, mission directories, startup parameters and configuration files. Start the unmodified server once and confirm that it writes its log and profile files where your host expects them. This establishes the correct working directory before you add Antistasi.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →On a rented server, the provider may hide the executable and profile paths. In that case, use the panel’s documented fields rather than adding parameters to an arbitrary text box. A panel may separate the server’s executable arguments, mod list, mission cycle and profile location.
Confirm network access
Configure the game and query ports shown by the host, allow the server executable through the operating-system firewall, and forward the required ports on your router if the machine is behind one. Port numbers and forwarding rules belong to the normal Arma 3 dedicated-server setup; Antistasi itself does not select or open them. If the server is running but invisible in the browser, test these settings before changing the mod.

Stop the server before changing files
Stop the process cleanly before uploading a release, changing the startup mod list or replacing a profile. Editing a live mod directory can leave a partial download and produce misleading “mission missing” or signature errors on the next start.
Install Antistasi through Steam Workshop
This is the shortest route when the host exposes Steam Workshop support. The labels differ between providers, but the workflow is consistent.
- Open the server control panel’s Workshop or Steam Workshop section.
- Search for the official Antistasi Community release and subscribe or add it to the server’s installed mods. Avoid adding multiple Antistasi variants.
- Wait for the download to finish. Check the panel’s file list or log so you know the mod was installed on the server, not merely subscribed to in your personal Steam client.
- Copy the mod’s identifier or folder name exactly as the panel presents it. You will use that value in the server’s startup mod list.
- Save the startup configuration, restart the server, and inspect the startup log for the Antistasi mod being loaded without an error.
Workshop updates are convenient, but they can also change the server’s files without a manual upload step. Before accepting an update, preserve the current campaign save and make sure your players can update to the same release.
Install Antistasi from the official GitHub release
Use this route when Workshop downloads are unavailable or when you need direct control over a Linux host’s files.

- Open the A3-Antistasi project’s official releases and download the latest release archive. Choose the release intended for normal server use, not a source-code snapshot unless the project explicitly says it is the server package.
- Unpack the archive on your computer. Inspect the top-level folders so you understand which directory is the Arma 3 mod and which files are documentation or optional material.
- Stop the dedicated server.
- Upload the mod directory and its contents to the server location used for Arma 3 mods. Depending on the provider, this may be a root-level
@directory, a managed Workshop directory or another documented path. Preserve the folder structure and capitalization. - Check ownership and permissions on Linux. The account that runs the Arma 3 server must be able to read every mod file and traverse each parent directory.
- Add the uploaded mod to the server startup mod list using the provider’s required syntax. Do not guess whether the panel expects a folder name, a Steam identifier or a semicolon-separated list; use its Arma 3 mod-loading instructions.
- Start the server and read the log. A successful load should identify the Antistasi mod before the mission-selection stage.
Manual installation makes updates your responsibility. When replacing a release, upload the new files while the server is stopped, retain a backup of the old directory and test the campaign before deleting that backup.
Load the mod and select the mission
Add the mod to the startup configuration
Use the host’s command-line field or control panel mod list to load Antistasi at startup. Arma 3 providers differ in whether they call this field Mods, Additional mods, Server mods or something similar. The exact switches and path syntax also differ between Windows and Linux. Follow the provider’s documented format and verify the resulting command in the startup log.
Do not place the Antistasi folder only in a client-side Steam installation and assume the server can see it. The dedicated server needs its own copy or a provider-managed Workshop installation.
Select the Antistasi Community mission
- Start the server with the mod enabled.
- Open the mission-selection screen in the control panel or the server’s configured mission cycle.
- Select the entry named
Antistasi Community [Version number]. The displayed version should correspond to the mod release installed on the server. - Save the mission cycle and restart once to confirm that the selected mission is loaded automatically rather than only launched manually.
If the entry is absent, the problem is usually one of three things: the mod files are in the wrong directory, the startup configuration did not actually load them, or the server has not been restarted since the files were installed. Check those in that order.

Make clients match the server
The official Antistasi Community guidance is explicit: “Only one Antistasi mod should be loaded at a time,” and “All clients must load the same Antistasi mod as the host.” Every player therefore needs the identical Antistasi release, plus any dependencies required by that release.
- Have each player install the same official Workshop release or the same official archive version used by the server.
- Remove or disable other Antistasi variants before joining. Two Antistasi mods can create conflicting mission entries and mismatched signatures.
- Compare the exact version shown in the client launcher with the version in the server’s mod directory or startup log.
- Keep the dependency list identical. A client with an extra required dependency, a missing dependency or a different version can fail before the mission loads.
- After a server update, tell players to update before attempting to join; do not troubleshoot connection errors while the host and clients are on different releases.
Create or load the campaign on a dedicated server
Starting the mission does not by itself create a campaign save. A dedicated-server administrator must open Antistasi’s setup interface and choose whether to create a new game or load an existing one.
- Join the running server from an Arma 3 client.
- Open the in-game chat and enter
/followed by#login adminpassword, replacingadminpasswordwith the administrator password configured inserver.cfg. The slash opens the command entry; it is not part of the password. - Confirm that the login succeeds. The official guide notes that dedicated-server administrators need this login to see the Antistasi setup UI.
- In the setup UI, choose the option to create a new campaign or load an existing save.
- Apply the campaign settings and let Antistasi finish initialization before disconnecting or restarting the server.
If the setup UI does not appear, verify the administrator login first, then confirm that the selected mission is the Antistasi Community mission rather than a similarly named scenario. A normal player account cannot create the first game.

Use Antistasi’s automatic-load option
Antistasi provides an option to automatically load the previous game. Enable it in the campaign setup when the server must recover unattended after a restart. The option is useful for scheduled host maintenance and crash recovery, but it depends on the save being written correctly before shutdown.

Configure the Arma 3 mission cycle
Set the Antistasi Community mission in the server’s mission cycle so the dedicated server starts that mission after a process restart. Arma 3 also supports persistent-mission and automatic-initialization settings; configure the parameters documented for your server version and host. A mission cycle alone cannot fix a missing mod, so keep the Antistasi mod in the startup list as well.
Test an unattended restart
- Join the campaign and make a small progress change that should be saved.
- Stop and restart the server using the host’s normal control-panel or service procedure.
- Watch the startup log for the Antistasi mod, then the mission-cycle entry.
- Join as administrator and verify that the previous campaign loads instead of presenting a blank new game.
If the server starts the mission but loses progress, check the profile directory and its write permissions. If it starts on the wrong mission, correct the mission cycle or automatic-initialization setting.
Troubleshoot installation and connection failures
| Symptom | Likely cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| Antistasi Community is not in the mission list | The mod is missing, installed in the wrong directory or absent from the startup list. | Stop the server, verify the mod files and path, confirm the startup mod field, restart, and inspect the log. |
| Clients receive a mod/version or signature error | The host and client do not have the same Antistasi release or dependency set, or more than one Antistasi mod is enabled. | Compare versions and dependencies, disable every other Antistasi variant, then update both sides to one identical release. |
| The setup UI is missing | The player is not logged in as administrator, or the wrong mission is running. | Use / and #login adminpassword with the password from server.cfg; confirm the mission name. |
| The server starts but the campaign is not restored | Automatic-load or persistence settings are disabled, or the profile cannot be written. | Enable Antistasi’s previous-game option, configure the documented persistent-mission settings, and check profile permissions. |
| The server is invisible or unreachable | Game/query ports, firewall rules or router forwarding are incorrect. | Recheck the ports configured by the host and apply Bohemia Interactive’s dedicated-server firewall and forwarding guidance. |
| Linux server reports file or permission errors | The upload is incomplete, paths are case-sensitive, or the service account cannot read the files. | Re-upload with the server stopped, preserve capitalization, and correct ownership and read/execute permissions. |
Change one variable at a time and read the dedicated-server log after each restart. This prevents a port problem, a mod-loading problem and a client mismatch from being mistaken for one another.
Updating Antistasi safely
- Announce a maintenance window and ask all players to leave the server.
- Back up the Antistasi profile/save and record the currently working release.
- Stop the server.
- Update through the provider’s Workshop control or replace the manually uploaded release directory with the new official archive.
- Update the startup mod entry if the provider changed the folder or identifier.
- Start the server without allowing players to join, and verify the mod and mission versions in the log.
- Test loading the existing campaign. If the new release cannot load it, restore the backup and the previous mod until you have determined the release-specific migration path.
- Have every player update to the same release before reopening the server.
Never run two Antistasi releases simultaneously to “support” different clients. The official guidance allows only one Antistasi mod at a time, and mixing releases defeats version matching.
Windows and Linux considerations
Windows hosts
Windows providers commonly expose a graphical Workshop installer and a startup-parameter editor. Use the panel’s path and quoting rules, especially when the Arma 3 installation is under a directory containing spaces. Confirm that the Windows service account can read the mod directory and write the profile/save location.
Linux hosts
Linux hosts are more likely to require SteamCMD, FTP/SFTP or a file manager for the manual GitHub route. Paths are case-sensitive, and the account running the service must own or be able to read the uploaded files. Keep the mod outside temporary upload directories and use the provider’s documented working directory in the startup command.
Neither platform changes the client rule, mission name or administrator login. Only the file locations, service controls and command-line formatting differ.
Quick Recap
Installation checklist
- Dedicated Arma 3 server starts normally and writes logs.
- Required game/query ports, firewall rules and router forwarding are configured.
