To install BlueStacks on a 64-bit Windows 10 PC, download BlueStacks 5, run the Windows .exe installer, choose an installation location if needed, and follow the setup prompts. You do not need a separate “64-bit Windows” BlueStacks installer: the Windows download is separate from the Android 32-bit and 64-bit instances you can create later.

Check your PC before installing

BlueStacks’ current Windows 10 requirements include:

  • Windows 10 version 1903 or later
  • An Intel or AMD processor
  • At least 4 GB of RAM
  • At least 5 GB of free disk space
  • Administrator access
  • Up-to-date graphics drivers from Microsoft or your chipset manufacturer

For a better experience, BlueStacks recommends 8 GB or more of RAM, an SSD, broadband internet, current graphics drivers, and hardware virtualization enabled.

The 5 GB requirement is only a minimum. BlueStacks also stores installed apps and games in the selected installation directory, so leave substantially more space if you plan to install several games.

Windows 10 reached end of support on October 14, 2025. It still runs, but Microsoft no longer provides normal free Windows Update security fixes, software updates, or technical support for the operating system. See Microsoft’s Windows 10 support information.

Download BlueStacks 5

  1. Open the official BlueStacks Download page.
  2. Download the Windows BlueStacks 5 .exe installer.
  3. When the download finishes, open the file and allow it to run if Windows displays a security prompt.

The download page may list Android versions such as Nougat 32-bit, Nougat 64-bit, Pie 64-bit, Android 11 64-bit, and Android 13 64-bit Beta. These are Android instances, not different Windows installers. Start with the standard Windows BlueStacks 5 download; choose an Android instance after installation according to the game or app you need.

Install BlueStacks on Windows 10

  1. Run the downloaded Windows .exe file.
  2. Follow the instructions shown by the installer.
  3. Use the installation-location field if you want to install BlueStacks on another drive.
  4. Click Customize beside the location field to choose a different directory.
  5. Confirm that the destination drive has room for BlueStacks, its Android data, and your installed games.
  6. Complete the installation and launch BlueStacks 5.

BlueStacks can ask you to sign in with a Google account during setup. You can also add the account after the first launch. A Google account is required for installing apps through Google Play and for some troubleshooting steps.

Do you need 64-bit Windows or a special installer?

No. “Windows 10 64-bit” describes your Windows operating system, not a special BlueStacks Windows download that you must select. The official download page presents the Windows BlueStacks 5 download separately from the Android runtime choices.

After installation, select an Android instance based on compatibility. The available choices can include 32-bit and 64-bit Nougat instances, Pie 64-bit, Android 11 64-bit, and Android 13 64-bit Beta. A newer Android version is not automatically the best choice for every game; use the version supported by the app when its requirements specify one.

Virtualization and Hyper-V requirements

Hardware virtualization improves emulator performance and is required for Hyper-V to work correctly. It must be enabled in your computer’s BIOS or UEFI firmware. Intel systems generally identify this capability as Intel VT-x, while AMD systems generally use AMD-V.

To check whether your PC meets Microsoft’s Hyper-V hardware requirements, open Command Prompt or PowerShell and run:

Systeminfo.exe

Review the Hyper-V Requirements section. Microsoft lists a 64-bit processor with SLAT, VM Monitor Mode extensions, at least 4 GB of memory, hardware-assisted virtualization, and hardware-enforced DEP among the requirements. See Microsoft’s Hyper-V host hardware requirements.

BlueStacks with Hyper-V enabled

BlueStacks 5.20 and later can run with Hyper-V either enabled or disabled. The old advice to disable Hyper-V before installing BlueStacks is therefore outdated for current BlueStacks versions. When you download BlueStacks from the official website on a PC with Hyper-V enabled, the installer automatically installs the Hyper-V-compatible BlueStacks 5 version.

BlueStacks specifically supports using the Android 11 instance with Hyper-V enabled. Third-party virtual machines may still experience conflicts: Microsoft warns that virtualization software such as VMware Workstation or VirtualBox may fail to start or behave unreliably while the Hyper-V hypervisor is running.

Enable Hyper-V on Windows 10 Pro or Enterprise

Hyper-V is a built-in optional Windows feature, not a separate download. Microsoft supports it on Windows 10 Pro and Enterprise, not Windows 10 Home.

Using the Windows interface:

  1. Open Windows Search and type Turn Windows features on or off.
  2. Open the matching control-panel result.
  3. Select Hyper-V.
  4. Click OK and restart Windows when prompted.

Microsoft also documents this path: Start → Settings → Apps & features → Programs and Features → Turn Windows features on or off.

Alternatively, open PowerShell as administrator and run:

Enable-WindowsOptionalFeature -Online -FeatureName Microsoft-Hyper-V -All

Confirm the restart when PowerShell asks. From an elevated Command Prompt, Microsoft’s equivalent DISM command is:

DISM /Online /Enable-Feature /All /FeatureName:Microsoft-Hyper-V

Windows 10 Home cannot use the Windows Hyper-V role. Do not try to follow the Hyper-V steps on that edition; install BlueStacks with the configuration supported by your system instead.

What to do if BlueStacks will not start

BlueStacks says Hyper-V is not configured correctly

Incomplete Windows features, missing virtualization support, or insufficient administrator privileges can prevent BlueStacks from launching. BlueStacks’ troubleshooting procedure can enable required settings automatically through its Hyper-V Diagnostic Tool. Restart the PC after the tool finishes.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

In BlueStacks 5.14, the diagnostic dialog can include Run tool. If elevation is needed, select Run as Admin; the dialog may also offer Apply on every launch.

BlueStacks’ older troubleshooting procedure lists these Windows features:

  • Hyper-V
  • Virtual Machine Platform
  • Windows Hypervisor Platform
  • Windows Sandbox
  • Windows Subsystem for Linux

After selecting the applicable features in Turn Windows features on or off, click OK and restart. You can also enable Virtual Machine Platform from an elevated Command Prompt with:

dism.exe /online /enable-feature /featurename:VirtualMachinePlatform /all

Press Y to restart when prompted.

The app installed but does not open

Right-click the BlueStacks 5 or BlueStacks X shortcut and select Run as administrator. If the problem remains, update BlueStacks before applying older repair instructions.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

You are using BlueStacks 5.13 or earlier

BlueStacks documents separate Hyper-V procedures for versions 5.13 and earlier. The current recommendation is to install the latest BlueStacks 5 rather than relying on legacy instructions or a special “N64” build. The compatibility change introduced in version 5.20 removed the need to choose permanently between Hyper-V-enabled and Hyper-V-disabled installations.

You need access to the Hyper-V Administrators group

If BlueStacks identifies a permissions problem, an administrator can add the current Windows account with:

net localgroup "Hyper-V Administrators" <username> /add

Replace <username> with the Windows account name, then restart the computer.

Update BlueStacks after installation

  1. Open BlueStacks 5.
  2. Click the gear icon on the side toolbar.
  3. Open About.
  4. Click Check for updates.
  5. If an update is available, click Download update.
  6. Run the downloaded installer and click Update.

Keeping BlueStacks current is especially important if you are following older Hyper-V instructions, because BlueStacks 5.20 and later handle Hyper-V compatibility differently from earlier releases.
