Install several Conan Exiles mods in one operation by placing every required .pak file in the server’s ConanSandbox/Mods directory and listing one filename (or the documented full path) per line in modlist.txt. Keep that list in the intended load order, restart the server, and give every player the identical mods in the identical order.

The exact file path and download behavior depend on whether the server and its players use Steam, Epic Games Store, or the Microsoft Store. The procedures below separate those workflows and explain when automatic mod transfer is available.

What the batch-install method actually does
Conan Exiles does not require a separate server command for each mod. The dedicated server reads a plain-text control file named modlist.txt. Each non-empty line identifies one mod, normally by its .pak filename. The server processes the entries in the order they appear, so the file is both the list of enabled mods and the authoritative load-order record.
A typical server directory therefore contains a structure similar to this:

Funcom’s technical manual states that a client joining a modded server must have the same mods with the same load order. A server can have every file installed correctly and still reject a player whose list differs by one mod or one line position.
Prepare the server before copying files
Confirm the server platform and installation folder
First identify which distribution your dedicated server uses. Steam, Epic Games Store, and Microsoft Store/Windows Server installations use different documented workflows. Do not assume that a path copied from one distribution applies to another.

Stop the server before a large change
Shut down the dedicated server cleanly before replacing mod files or editing the list. A running process may keep old files open or overwrite configuration during shutdown. Keep a copy of the current modlist.txt and the world save before changing a substantial mod set. The official documentation establishes the list and matching requirements; the backup practice is an administration safeguard so you can restore a known working state.
Collect complete mod files
Every line you intend to enable must resolve to a real mod file. Download or update all selected mods first, then copy the resulting .pak files together. A partially copied set creates confusing failures: the server may start with some mods while silently ignoring a missing entry, or clients may be asked for content the server cannot provide.
Install multiple mods on a Steam server
1. Subscribe to all required Workshop items
On the Steam account used to obtain the files, subscribe to each required Conan Exiles Workshop mod. Steam is Funcom’s documented installation route for this platform. Wait for Steam to finish downloading every item before looking for the files; a Workshop subscription can exist while its download is still pending.
2. Locate the downloaded .pak files
Find the actual mod files in the Steam installation or Workshop content location used by your Conan Exiles client. The important result is a set of .pak files, not merely a list of Workshop page subscriptions. Record each filename exactly, including capitalization and punctuation.

3. Copy the files to the dedicated server
Copy every selected .pak into:
<dedicated server folder>/ConanSandbox/Mods/Create the Mods directory if the server installation does not already contain it. Do not place the files in the client’s mod folder and assume the dedicated server will read that location; the server needs its own copy.
4. Create or update modlist.txt
In the same ConanSandbox/Mods directory, create a plain-text file named exactly modlist.txt. Add one .pak filename on each line:
FirstMod.pak
SecondMod.pak
ThirdMod.pakArrange the lines in the order you have chosen for the server. If you already configured the mods in the Conan Exiles client, Funcom documents an easier route: select the mods in the client, let it generate ConanSandbox/Mods/modlist.txt, and copy that generated file into the dedicated-server folder. Review the copied file and confirm that every listed file also exists on the server.
5. Restart and test with a matching client
Start the server after saving the list. Have a test player use the same Workshop subscriptions, the same files, and the same order. If the player’s list differs, correct the client list rather than repeatedly restarting the server. Once a known client connects, record the working list as your canonical configuration.

Use the Windows server Mods directory
Funcom’s Epic Games Store help guidance directs administrators to place the mod files in the Windows server’s ConanSandbox/Mods directory. Obtain the files from a supported source such as Steam Workshop, Nexus Mods, or a mod author’s distribution site, then copy the resulting .pak files into that server folder.
Put a full path on each line
For this workflow, Funcom documents editing modlist.txt so that each line contains the full path to one .pak file. Use the path syntax expected by the Windows server installation and keep one entry per line, for example:

Match the player configuration
Players must obtain the same mods and arrange them in the same order as the server. A player who downloaded an equivalent file from a different release can still have an incompatible version. When troubleshooting, compare filenames and versions rather than relying only on Workshop titles.

Install multiple mods on a Microsoft Store or Windows dedicated server
1. Create the required folder
Funcom instructs administrators to create a Mods folder beneath the WindowsServer installation’s ConanSandbox directory. The resulting location is conceptually:
<WindowsServer folder>/ConanSandbox/Mods/Use the actual installation path on your machine; the folder name and location must correspond to the WindowsServer copy that launches the dedicated server.
2. Copy every .pak file into that folder
Place the complete set of selected mod files in the new Mods directory. If you update a mod, replace the old file deliberately and remove obsolete versions so that the directory does not contain competing copies.

4. Consider the documented transfer settings
The Microsoft Store help page also documents optional mod-transfer settings in Engine.ini. The settings include:

The documented defaults for the last two settings are five simultaneous client connections and 250 Mbps per-connection server bandwidth. Those are configuration defaults, not measurements of actual transfer speed. Hosting providers can restrict these options, so a setting that is valid in a self-managed installation may have no effect on a managed host.

Keep one canonical list
Treat modlist.txt as the source of truth. Do not maintain one order for the server, another in an administrator’s client, and a third in a launcher. After every change, distribute the same ordered list to the people who administer or join the server.
Understand what “same order” requires
Matching means the same enabled mods in the same sequence, not merely the same number of files. Adding a new mod at the top, removing an entry, or moving two entries can make a client incompatible even when all filenames are otherwise correct. Preserve the established order when adding a mod; test a deliberate reorder as a separate change.
Validate every entry before startup
- Confirm that each listed file exists in the server’s
Modsdirectory or at the documented full path. - Check that the filename in the text file exactly matches the file on disk.
- Remove stale lines for mods you no longer distribute.
- Ensure the file is named
modlist.txt, notmodlist.txt.txt. - Save the file as plain text rather than a rich-text document.
Can Conan Exiles automatically download missing mods?
Automatic transfer is platform-dependent. Funcom’s dedicated-server documentation describes a mod-download port configured through Engine.ini. It also explains that Steam clients still use the Steam Workshop API, while Epic Games Store clients can request mod transfer from the server. This means you should not promise one universal auto-download experience to every player.

Steam clients
Steam players normally obtain the required files through the Workshop. The server’s list still controls which files and order are required; Workshop subscription alone does not guarantee that the player has the exact revision currently installed on the server.

Epic Games Store clients
Epic clients can request mod transfer under the documented server configuration. Transfer still depends on the server’s files, configured port, network reachability, and any host restrictions. If transfer fails, provide the same .pak set to the client through the supported distribution method and verify the list manually.
Microsoft Store clients
The Microsoft Store help page documents additional transfer controls through the ModFileDownload settings. Check whether your host permits those settings and whether the configured download port is reachable before diagnosing the mod files themselves.
Use a launcher when manual copying becomes repetitive
Funcom forum documentation for the Conan Exiles Dedicated Server Launcher describes a mod-list field that accepts multiple Workshop IDs or local .pak paths. The launcher documentation also covers SteamCMD deployment and updating of selected mods. This can reduce repetitive copying when you operate several servers or update a large collection.
When launcher automation helps
- You rebuild the same mod set frequently.
- You need the launcher to download or update selected Workshop items.
- You want one interface for server deployment and mod-list editing.
What automation does not remove
A launcher does not eliminate compatibility work. Verify the launcher’s current release and behavior before relying on it, because version numbers and supported workflows can change. Keep a manually readable copy of the resulting modlist.txt, confirm the files on disk, and test a client after an automated update.

Final verification checklist
- Every required
