For the usual NRaas Woohooer .package download, place the extracted file in Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 3/Mods/Packages. Put resource.cfg in the parent Mods folder, then check the mod release notes against your installed game version before launching.
Install the Woohooer package file
- Open your Sims 3 user folder:
Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 3. - Create a folder named
Modsif it is not already there. - Place
resource.cfgdirectly insideMods. - Create a folder named
PackagesinsideMods, if needed. - Download Woohooer from its publisher and extract the archive if it is compressed. Put the resulting Woohooer
.packagefile inMods/Packages. - Before starting the game, compare the release’s compatibility notes with your installed Sims 3 version.
The folder layout should look like this:
Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 3/Mods/resource.cfgDocuments/Electronic Arts/The Sims 3/Mods/Packages/[Woohooer package].package
What does resource.cfg do, and where does it go?
The Sims Resource explains that resource.cfg tells the game to search the Mods folder and its subfolders. It belongs directly in Mods, alongside Packages—not inside Packages. Is Woohooer a .package or Sims3Pack download?
Use the installation route that matches the downloaded file. A Woohooer .package file goes in Mods/Packages. Sims3Pack downloads use a different route: The Sims Resource says to install them by double-clicking the file. Do not put a Sims3Pack in the Packages folder expecting it to work like a package mod. Check game-version compatibility before launching
Installation location does not establish that a particular Woohooer release supports your game build. Check the publisher’s release notes for the downloaded version. EA states that Sims 3 players using a disk cannot update beyond version 1.67; that is a limit on the game update, not a Woohooer compatibility guarantee. If the game does not find the mod
Start with the folder layout rather than assuming the mod itself is broken:
- Confirm you used the Sims 3 user folder under Documents.
- Check that the Woohooer
.packagefile is inMods/Packages, not merely somewhere inside Downloads or an extracted archive folder. - Confirm
resource.cfgis inMods, at the same level asPackages. - Recheck the release notes for compatibility with your installed game version.
These checks address common placement mistakes; they do not establish a complete Woohooer-specific troubleshooting procedure.
