It is not an installer for the standalone Roblox desktop app. There is an important catch: Roblox’s policy prohibits software that changes how Roblox works, and RoShade’s claims that its extension avoids modifying the client and is ban-safe are not confirmed by Roblox. Roblox’s anti-cheat guidance should be considered before installing it.
Before installing: understand the policy and download uncertainty
Roblox Support states: “It’s against our rules to use modified versions of the Roblox app or any software that changes the way Roblox works.” It says consequences can include a temporary suspension, with permanent bans possible after repeated violations. RoShade’s page says its browser extension does not modify the Roblox client and is ban-safe, but those are vendor claims—not confirmation from Roblox. The available information does not establish whether Roblox considers this extension compliant, so no one can guarantee that using it will avoid account action. Read Roblox’s anti-cheat guidance before deciding.
The download’s provenance is also uncertain. RoShade-branded pages describe different installation methods: roshade.app presents a browser extension, while a public legacy installer source writes files and a DLL into a Roblox version directory. roshade.org describes a conventional installer, and roshade.to also presents an unpacked extension. The available sources do not establish whether these sites share a developer or identify an authorized current distributor. A shared name is not proof that the downloads are equivalent or trustworthy. Roblox also warns generally that cheating and exploiting tools may be scams that install malware or steal personal information; that warning does not establish that RoShade itself is malware. What the RoShade browser-extension method requires
The current roshade.app instructions describe loading an extracted ZIP folder as an unpacked extension, then using it with Roblox in a browser. They name Chrome, Edge, and Firefox, while their setup directions use Chrome’s extensions page. The method is described for the Roblox web player, not the desktop app alone. Roblox lists 64-bit Windows 10 and Windows 11 for PC and supports Chrome, Firefox, and Microsoft Edge for its Windows website. Check Roblox’s operating-system and browser requirements.

Install RoShade in a desktop browser
These are the steps described by roshade.app; they have not been independently verified. Installing an unpacked extension gives it browser access according to the browser’s permissions model, so review the permissions shown by your browser and proceed only if you trust the download source.
- Download and extract the ZIP. On the RoShade page, download its ZIP and extract it to a folder on your Windows PC. Keep track of that folder; the browser will need the extracted folder, not the ZIP file.
- Open the extensions page. In Chrome, enter
chrome://extensionsin the address bar. The page’s directions use this Chrome URL, even though it also lists Edge and Firefox. For another browser, use its own extensions interface and confirm that it supports loading unpacked extensions; the source does not give browser-specific alternate paths. - Turn on Developer Mode. On the extensions page, enable Developer mode.
- Load the extracted folder. Select Load unpacked and choose the RoShade folder created when you extracted the ZIP.
- Pin RoShade. Pin the extension in the browser toolbar so it is available while Roblox is open.
- Use Roblox in the browser. Go to roblox.com, join an experience in the browser, open the RoShade extension, and select Enable Shaders.
The RoShade page describes effects including bloom, volumetric fog, depth-of-field blur, dynamic ambient shadows, and color grading. It says individual effects can be switched off. If the extension does not load, the game is not running in the browser, or the expected controls are absent, the published directions do not provide a verified fix; do not substitute a similarly named installer from another site.

Browser support and the desktop app
RoShade’s page names Chrome, Edge, and Firefox, and Roblox lists those same browsers for its Windows website. The described RoShade flow is for Roblox in a desktop browser. It does not work by installing the extension into the standalone desktop app, and RoShade’s page says mobile apps are unsupported because they do not support desktop browser extensions.
Updating the extension
RoShade’s page says to download and extract the new ZIP, then refresh the extension from the browser’s extensions page and point it to the new folder. Its displayed version information is inconsistent: the page labels the extension v1.5.0 while the visible changelog lists v1.4.98, v1.4.97, and v1.4.96; roshade.to displays v1.5.5. The available evidence does not establish a definitive latest version or confirm that the branded pages are from one publisher. Verify the source and displayed version directly before replacing an existing extension.

Will RoShade affect frame rate?
RoShade says its effects are processed on the GPU and that a dedicated GPU helps, but no independent performance test or minimum GPU specification is established. The actual impact may vary by PC, browser, Roblox experience, and which effects are enabled; there is no sourced frame-rate figure to rely on. If you choose to use it, the page says individual effects can be disabled, which may help you reduce visual processing if performance suffers.
