Install UT99 on Windows 11
For a new installation, use the OldUnreal Unreal Tournament full-game installer. The page describes it as installing the 1999 Game of the Year edition from the original disc image and automatically patching the game to the latest OldUnreal version.

- Open OldUnreal’s full-game installer page and download the Windows installer.
- Run the downloaded installer and follow its setup prompts.
- Choose the destination folder where you want the game installed, then let setup complete.
OldUnreal lists Windows XP and later as supported. Windows 11 falls within that stated range, but that is not the same as a published Windows 11-specific test result; behavior can vary by PC configuration.
Choose the right download route

The full-game route is simpler when starting from scratch. A patch-only release avoids reinstalling the game when you already have its files.

What “official” means here
OldUnreal’s installer is an OldUnreal community project, not an installer issued by Epic Games. The project says it reached an agreement with Epic in 2019 and that Epic approved the patch project. Its repository disclaimer also says the project is not an official Epic project and has not been reviewed or tested by Epic. That describes the project’s relationship with Epic; it is not a broader security guarantee.

The full-game installer applies the latest OldUnreal version automatically. If you are patching an existing installation, OldUnreal advises regular players and online players to use official releases. Development snapshots are intended for modders and beta testers and may be less stable.
OldUnreal lists bug fixes and additions including raw input, updated OpenGL and Direct3D renderers, OpenAL-based audio, high-DPI awareness, menu and font scaling, and UTF-8 support for configuration and log files. SDL2 window management is listed for Linux and macOS. These are feature updates, not a guarantee of better performance on every Windows 11 system.

If keeping a rollback option matters, back up the complete UT folder before applying a patch to an existing installation.
