What the quest requires
A Prime Specimen is given by Shani after The Clean Dream and takes place on The Blue Gate. Its objectives are to obtain two ARC Powercells, interact with any ARC Deforester, and loot an ARC Deforester—all in one round, according to the community-maintained quest page.
How to interact with the ARC Deforester
- Obtain two ARC Powercells. You need both for the two panels inside the machine.
- Locate an ARC Deforester on The Blue Gate. These are large husks. Look inside for a sparking panel, the visual cue for the interaction.
- Use the first Powercell at the sparking panel. This starts bursts of fire inside the husk.
- Wait for a safe opening, cross the fire, and use the second Powercell at the next panel. There is no fixed timing window established in the available guide, so watch the hazard during your run rather than rushing through.
- Reach the loot point. Return toward the front, climb to the upper ledge while avoiding the fire there, then search the point on the rear wall. This completes the loot objective.

Where to look on The Blue Gate
A January 2026 PC Gamer guide reports three Deforester locations: at Adorned Wreckage and Barren Clearing in the west, and near Ridgeline in the east. These are reported locations, not a current spawn-rate or safety comparison; choose based on your position and route.

If the interaction does not trigger
- Confirm that A Prime Specimen is active and that the objective tracker shows the current round’s progress.
- If a panel has no usable prompt or the event does not trigger, try another reported Deforester location.
- If it still fails, end the run and retry. PC Gamer reported trigger failures and suggested another location or another run; this is not a confirmed fix for every case or a statement about current patch status.
