To join a Fortnite tournament, open the Battle Royale Lobby, select Compete, choose an event, then go to Play > Mode Selection and select it under By Epic during its scheduled session. You must also meet that event’s eligibility rules—often including account level, age, and two-factor authentication (2FA). Event times and requirements vary, so confirm the listing and rules for the tournament you want to play.
How to enter a Fortnite tournament
- Open Fortnite Battle Royale and enter the Lobby.
- Select Compete and review the tournament listings.
- Choose an event, then check its region, play window, and eligibility requirements in the listing or official rules.
- Open Play, then Mode Selection.
- Select the tournament under By Epic and enter during its scheduled session. Epic’s tournament guide describes this entry flow.
Tournaments run on specific dates and times. Some award points for eliminations and surviving longer, but formats and scoring differ; use the event’s rules rather than assuming another cup’s format applies.

Check eligibility before the session
- Age: You generally must be at least 13, or meet a higher minimum age where local law requires it. Cabined Accounts cannot compete under the Master Rules.
- 2FA: Enable two-factor authentication on your Epic Account. Epic’s guide gives the account path as Password and Security. The June 4, 2026 Competitive Master Rules make 2FA an eligibility requirement.
- Account level: Under those Master Rules, many competitions require level 50 or higher. FNCS, Cash Cups, and Performance Evaluations require level 350 or higher. Check your level in Fortnite’s Career tab.
- FNCS tournament history: The 2026 Master Rules require at least 14 distinct Epic tournaments in the preceding 180 days. Separate rounds or regions in one tournament do not count as separate tournaments.
- Account standing and event terms: Competitive bans, regional or legal restrictions, and other rules may affect eligibility. Review Epic’s Terms of Service and the specific event rules before entering.
For players under 18, Epic’s guide says signed parent or guardian permission is needed to claim cash prizes. The applicable event rules set the details of minor participation and consent.

What FNCS eligibility adds
FNCS is a multi-phase series, not a single open tournament. In addition to general requirements such as age and 2FA, the 2026 rules specify level 350 and at least 14 distinct tournaments in the previous 180 days. Do not rely on rank, team-size, or qualification advice from an older season; check the current listing and rules for the relevant FNCS event.

Epic’s 2026 FNCS overview said more than US$10 million was “up for grabs” across that year’s series. That is a 2026 series figure, not a guaranteed prize for an individual player or a promise about a later season.

Epic’s entry instructions and competition rules do not specify a required headset, controller, PC, or other physical purchase. Use a supported device and setup that can run Fortnite, but do not treat optional gaming equipment as a tournament-entry requirement.
