To keep a church livestream running during load shedding, back up power for every device that carries the signal—including the streaming computer or encoder and the modem/router—and make a separate plan for internet outages. A UPS or inverter can keep powered equipment running, but it cannot restore an ISP connection that has failed. Measure the actual load, choose backup capacity for the runtime you need, and test the complete public stream before relying on it.
Map every device the stream depends on
Walk the full signal path from the service to YouTube. A typical setup may include cameras and audio equipment, an encoder or streaming computer, and the modem and router that connect the stream to the internet. Include any other powered device that is essential to capture, encode, or send the feed.
The National Informatics Centre (NIC) describes a hired-feed webcast setup as requiring venue audio-video equipment and an encoder capable of publishing the stream. The exact chain varies by church, so check the equipment actually in use rather than assuming that powering the camera or computer alone is sufficient. NIC webcast guidance
Back up the local power supply
Keep the encoder or streaming computer and the modem/router powered during an outage. Back up cameras and audio equipment too if the stream depends on them. A device left out of the backup chain can still stop the broadcast even when the rest of the system stays on.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
There is no universal UPS size or runtime that suits every church. First identify the devices that must remain on and their power requirements. Then set a target outage duration, check that the backup equipment is compatible with the devices, and get a site-specific estimate or quote where needed.
- UPS: Evaluate it against the combined load, desired runtime, and compatibility with the equipment it will power.
- Inverter and battery: Consider these for a venue that needs longer-duration backup, with sizing and installation based on the actual site and load.
- Router mini UPS: Check the router’s voltage and connector compatibility before choosing one; a mini UPS for the network device does not also power the encoder or other equipment.
Compare options using measured load, target runtime, compatibility, installation needs, and current local quotes. Do not rely on a stated runtime without checking the conditions and load it assumes.

Plan separately for internet failures
Power backup addresses devices at the venue; it does not keep an ISP connection available if that connection goes down. A second ISP or mobile broadband may help only if it is available at the church and provides a sufficiently independent route or infrastructure. Check signal strength inside the venue, data limits, and how the system will switch connections, then test stream continuity on the backup connection.
India’s Department of Telecommunications describes internet access as being delivered through technologies that include fibre optics, DSL, and wireless broadband. That description does not establish which provider, technology, or resilient route is available at a particular church. Department of Telecommunications

Telecom infrastructure guidance is not a venue-level guarantee either: TRAI’s recommendations discuss backup power for small cells, including a centralized battery-backed power hub as one possible approach, but this does not prove that a mobile connection will remain available during a power cut at your location. TRAI recommendations
Test the full public stream before an outage
- List the signal chain. Record each device required to capture, encode, and send the service.
- Confirm the backup plan. Check the load, runtime target, device compatibility, and which devices will receive backup power.
- Simulate the intended configuration. Test the complete chain with the backup power and, if applicable, the backup internet connection in use. Confirm that viewers can still access the public stream.
- Check the failure points. Verify that the encoder stays powered and that the network connection works; test any planned changeover rather than assuming it is automatic.
- Repeat after changes. Retest if equipment, wiring, network service, or the venue setup changes.
NIC’s online guidance gives 2–4 Mbps of dedicated bandwidth per stream for its hired-agency webcast scenario. The page does not state a publication year, and that figure is specific to NIC’s service—not a universal YouTube bitrate, a general church-stream requirement, or a guarantee of uninterrupted streaming. Keep a viewer-accessible backup link
NIC advises government webcast users to retain the YouTube link as a backup option for signal issues. For a church, making the stream link easy to find can help viewers access it when available, but a link does not restore the church’s power or network connection. NIC webcast guidance

- The camera is on, but the stream has stopped: Check whether the encoder or streaming computer and the modem/router are also receiving backup power.
- Equipment remains on, but YouTube is no longer receiving the feed: Check whether the venue’s ISP connection is available. A UPS cannot fix an internet outage; switch to a tested alternate connection if one is available.
- The backup connection connects but the stream is unstable: Check indoor signal, data limits, and whether the alternate route is actually independent enough to help. Test the full stream under that setup.
- The backup runs out sooner than expected: Recheck the actual combined load and the runtime target. Do not assume an advertised runtime applies to your equipment and conditions.
- A router mini UPS does not power the router: Confirm voltage and connector compatibility.
Or let it run in the cloud
If your church’s format is a prerecorded service or other uploaded video played as a continuous YouTube stream, StreamNeo is a cloud option: upload the video, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. It loops uploaded videos from the cloud, so nothing has to stay on at the church or at home for the stream to continue. It does not stream a live camera feed.
