To keep recorded board-exam revision videos live around the clock on YouTube, send them through an encoder connected to a verified channel, and make sure the encoder can loop the recordings and recover after interruptions. You can run encoder software on a computer or use a hardware encoder; either way, plan for monitoring, copyright clearance, and YouTube’s archive limits. If you do not want a computer or encoder at home to stay on, StreamNeo can loop uploaded videos from the cloud to YouTube.
What you need before going live
YouTube’s live-stream guidance says a channel must be verified and must not have had a live-stream restriction in the previous 90 days. Check your channel’s eligibility in YouTube Studio before building a long-running setup. YouTube’s live-stream tips also recommend preparing and previewing the stream before it starts.
- A YouTube channel that meets the live-stream eligibility requirements.
- One or more recordings you have the right to stream and archive.
- An encoder that can send the recording to YouTube and, if you want continuous playback, loop it and reconnect after a dropped connection.
- A stable internet connection with enough upload capacity for the chosen stream settings.
- A monitoring plan, plus a local copy of important recordings if you need to preserve them independently of YouTube.
YouTube supports encoder-based streams, including software encoders; it does not require a dedicated hardware device. The YouTube encoder instructions cover connecting an encoder and choosing its settings. The platform documentation does not certify a particular encoder or promise that any one will loop unattended, so check the product’s own instructions for looping, reconnect behavior, and local recording.
Set up the stream in YouTube Studio
- Open the Live Control Room. In YouTube Studio, select Create, then Go live. Create a stream or schedule it in advance if you want time to promote it and let viewers set reminders. Choose the intended visibility—public, unlisted, or private—and check that you are configuring the correct listing.
- Set the stream details. Give the revision stream a clear title and description, select the appropriate audience settings, and make the schedule reflect the actual plan. A scheduled listing does not itself send video; the encoder still has to connect and start the feed.
- Copy the connection details. In the Live Control Room, copy the server URL and stream key into the corresponding fields in your encoder. Treat the key like a password: do not publish it, and reset it if you believe someone else has access.
- Configure the recording and loop. Select the intended video or playlist in the encoder. Confirm that it can repeat the material as intended and recover if the connection or encoder restarts. Do not assume the YouTube listing will make a single uploaded recording repeat automatically.
- Choose settings your connection can sustain. Set resolution and bitrate in the encoder using YouTube’s current, resolution-specific guidance, and test with a connection whose reliable upload capacity can support the selected bitrate. There is no single bitrate that suits every resolution and connection. YouTube’s encoder guide includes settings for RTMP/RTMPS and different resolutions; check it again when configuring or changing the stream.
- Preview before starting the public broadcast. Confirm that the correct revision video is visible and that narration and other audio are audible and in sync. Check the Live Control Room’s preview and stream-health indicators before relying on the stream. If the listing is public, do not treat a title or thumbnail as proof that the intended feed is actually live.
- Start the encoder and keep watch. Check the feed after it begins, then monitor it periodically. If you configure encoder failover, test it rather than assuming it will work. YouTube’s live-stream tips recommend preparation, quality checks, and testing failover where configured.
Plan continuity around sessions, not just the playlist
A 24/7 playlist is not the same thing as one complete, recoverable YouTube archive. YouTube’s encoder instructions say streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. That is a threshold in the Help guidance, not a guarantee that a longer uninterrupted broadcast will produce a complete archive by another method. Check current Studio behavior before relying on an archive, and keep separate local recordings if a complete copy matters.

| Approach | What it helps with | Trade-off to plan for |
|---|---|---|
| One long encoder session | Fewer planned session starts and breaks for viewers. | The automatic-archive guidance covers streams under 12 hours, so do not assume a longer session will give you a complete archive. A restart or lost connection may also interrupt the broadcast. |
| Shorter scheduled sessions | Creates deliberate restart points and makes it easier to organize individual topic recordings and archive checks. | Viewers may experience a break between sessions, and someone or something must start the next session. The official guidance cited here does not establish one best session length for every channel. |
For either approach, check that local recording files are being created and growing as expected, verify that the public stream page is accessible, and inspect audio and video quality. A backup encoder, backup internet connection, or backup power can reduce some single-point risks, but these are optional continuity measures, not YouTube requirements or guarantees of zero downtime.
Use revision material you are allowed to broadcast
YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. If it identifies material that belongs to someone else, it may replace the picture, interrupt the feed, or terminate the stream. A licence does not necessarily prevent a disruption: YouTube says the rights holder may need to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist. See YouTube’s guidance on copyright issues with live streams.

Before putting a lesson into the playlist, check every element—not just the teacher’s voice. Music, textbook pages, board papers, diagrams, animation, footage, and coaching materials may have separate owners or terms. Public availability, educational purpose, or a lack of an immediate claim does not by itself establish permission to rebroadcast or archive the material.
- Prefer original explanations, notes, diagrams, and recordings, or material for which you have documented permission.
- Keep a rights record for each recording: the owner or creator, permission or licence, territories covered, duration, and whether live and archived use are allowed.
- If a rights holder needs to allowlist your channel for Content ID, request that before the broadcast and confirm the correct channel is covered.
- Review the YouTube livestream terms, which require streamers to have the necessary rights for live and archived content.
What India’s education exception does—and does not—settle
India’s Copyright Act, 1957 includes specific exceptions concerning a teacher or pupil in the course of instruction and material used as part of examination questions or answers. The Act also protects communication to the public. Those provisions do not automatically decide whether a particular public YouTube stream, recording, or monetized archive is permitted. The facts matter, including who made the material, its source, the audience, how it is communicated, and whether it is retained or used commercially.

Read the relevant text in Section 52 of the Copyright Act, 1957 and the Copyright Office exceptions summary. If third-party material is central to a public stream or archive, obtain permission or seek advice on the specific use from an Indian copyright professional. This is a practical caution, not a legal determination.
Keep copyright clearance separate from monetization eligibility
Having permission to use material does not by itself make a channel eligible for YouTube monetization. YouTube’s channel monetization policy treats repetitive or mass-produced content as “inauthentic content”; its policy update dated July 15, 2025 clarified that this content is ineligible for monetization. Reused-content review is also separate from copyright review. Make the creator’s authorship and teaching contribution clear, and do not assume that an educational label or a successful live broadcast means a looping stream will earn revenue. See YouTube’s channel monetization policies.

Troubleshoot common interruptions and setup problems
| Symptom | Likely cause | What to check or do |
|---|---|---|
| The encoder will not connect. | Incorrect server URL or stream key, a changed key, or a connection problem. | Compare the encoder fields with the current details in the Live Control Room, check the internet connection, and reconnect. Reset the key if it may have been exposed. |
| The stream is live but shows the wrong video or no sound. | The wrong source or playlist is selected, or audio routing is incorrect. | Preview the encoder output and confirm both picture and sound before making the feed public; check the selected source and audio input. |
| The feed looks unstable or loses quality. | The selected bitrate may exceed what the connection can sustain, or the connection may vary. | Check stream health and reliable upload capacity. Test at a lower setting if needed, then consult YouTube’s current resolution-specific encoder recommendations rather than relying on a universal bitrate. |
| The stream stops when nobody is watching the computer. | The computer, encoder, power, or internet connection stopped, or the encoder does not recover automatically. | Check sleep and power settings, test the encoder’s reconnect and loop behavior, and consider backup power, connectivity, or an alternate encoder if continuous operation is important. |
| YouTube interrupts or replaces the live picture. | Automated detection may have identified third-party content. | Review the stream for material you do not control, confirm that permissions cover live and archived use, and contact the rights holder about Content ID allowlisting if appropriate. |
| A long stream does not appear as a complete archive. | The session exceeded the under-12-hour automatic-archive guidance, or archive behavior differed from your expectation. | Check current Studio behavior, plan sessions with archive needs in mind, and maintain a separate local recording when completeness matters. |
