You can keep a YouTube channel live around the clock by sending YouTube a continuous feed from an encoder that plays your pre-recorded videos. The encoder can run on your computer, or a cloud service can play uploaded files remotely. YouTube does not provide a native “loop forever” switch for a live broadcast: you create a live broadcast, connect an encoder with its stream URL and key, and keep the encoder’s feed running.

Before you start: check channel eligibility

YouTube says live streaming must be enabled for your channel. Your channel must be verified, have no live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days, and the creator must be at least 16 years old. Check eligibility before preparing a long-running playlist; see YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility requirements.

Choose how to play and send the videos

YouTube receives an incoming live video feed. Your encoder supplies that feed by playing files in sequence; it is the encoder or hosting service that handles playlist playback, not a YouTube loop setting. YouTube’s API distinguishes the incoming liveStream resource from the liveBroadcast viewers see (YouTube Live Streaming API).

Local encoder on a computer

Use encoder software on a computer to play the videos in order and transmit the output to YouTube. The computer, encoder, and internet connection need to remain available for the broadcast to continue. Local playback can be useful if you want direct control of files or an independent local recording, but you must plan for power, connectivity, software faults, and monitoring.

Elebase USB to USB C Adapter for iPhone 18 Pro Max,USBC Car Charger Adapter
  • Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
  • Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
  • Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
  • Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
  • 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.

Hosted cloud encoder

A cloud service can play uploaded files and send the feed without leaving your computer running. This shifts the playback and transmission away from your home machine, but relies on the service, its storage, and its cost. Reliability and features vary by provider; the general workflow alone does not establish comparative uptime.

When evaluating either approach, check how it handles playlist order and repetition, playback errors and reconnects, monitoring, local recording or backup, storage, internet requirements, and recurring cost. These are decision points, not guarantees about a particular encoder.

Prepare a playlist you have the right to broadcast

Choose videos and audio you own or are authorized to use, then arrange them in the order you want viewers to see them. Decide whether the playlist should repeat or advance through a sequence. Test transitions and audio levels so that a file ending, silent segment, or playback fault does not leave the live feed in an unintended state. YouTube’s live-streaming setup guidance also recommends monitoring the stream and adjusting the playlist as needed (YouTube’s 24/7 live-stream setup guide).

Copyright can interrupt a technically healthy stream

YouTube states, “All live streams are scanned for matches to third-party content.” A match can replace the live feed with a placeholder, and if the material remains, YouTube may interrupt or terminate the broadcast. If you have a license for third-party content, YouTube says the rights owner may need to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist; having a license alone may not prevent a live interruption. Read YouTube’s guidance on copyright issues with live streams and confirm permissions with the rights holder before launch.

Create the broadcast and connect your encoder

  1. Open YouTube Studio and go to Live Control Room. Create or schedule a live broadcast, choosing its title, visibility, and other details before launch. The broadcast is the viewer-facing event; the incoming stream is the encoder connection.
  2. Get the stream URL and key from the broadcast setup. Copy them into the corresponding server/URL and stream-key fields in your encoder. Treat the key like a password: do not publish it, include it in a public screenshot, or share it with an untrusted service. If it is exposed, replace or reset it in YouTube’s live-stream settings.
  3. Set the encoder output to match the video you intend to send. YouTube supports RTMP/RTMPS ingestion, H.264, H.265, or AV1 video, AAC or MP3 audio, and frame rates up to 60 fps. It recommends constant bitrate encoding and a two-second keyframe interval, which should not exceed four seconds. Choose the bitrate from YouTube’s current table for your resolution, frame rate, and codec rather than relying on one universal figure; use RTMPS where available for encryption in transit. See YouTube’s encoder settings and bitrates.
  4. Configure playback. Select the prepared playlist and confirm whether the encoder should repeat it or stop after the final item. Labels and controls differ among encoder applications, so verify the behavior with a test rather than assuming a playlist automatically loops.

Test the feed, then make the broadcast public

  1. Start the encoder while the broadcast is still in its preview or testing state.
  2. In Live Control Room, confirm that YouTube receives the feed and that stream health is acceptable. Check picture, motion, transitions, and sound using a representative section of the playlist.
  3. Resolve warnings or playback problems before changing the broadcast to live. YouTube’s API workflow likewise tests the incoming stream and confirms it is active before the broadcast transitions to live (YouTube broadcast transition documentation).
  4. When the preview is correct, start the broadcast for viewers. Keep Live Control Room or your monitoring method available so you can detect disconnects, health warnings, playback faults, and copyright notices.

Keep the feed running and plan for failures

A 24/7 stream is a continuous encoder operation, not a guarantee that the same uninterrupted broadcast will remain healthy indefinitely. Monitor the encoder and YouTube’s stream health, check that the playlist advances or repeats as intended, and make a recovery plan for lost internet, a stopped encoder, a service interruption, or a copyright notice. A local setup depends on the computer and connection staying up; with a hosted setup, check what recovery and monitoring the provider actually includes.

Do not rely on YouTube for a complete 24/7 replay

YouTube says it can automatically archive streams shorter than 12 hours, but streams longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all. Its help page recommends keeping a local archive backup. Very long streams can also have limited or unavailable DVR rewind. If a complete replay or rewind matters, keep a separate recording and consider ending and restarting broadcasts on a schedule rather than relying on one unbroken day-long archive. Details: YouTube’s live-stream archive guidance and YouTube’s DVR guidance.

Follow live-stream rules and set realistic monetization expectations

Live streams are subject to YouTube’s monetization policies. YouTube says monetized content should be original and authentic rather than mass-produced, generic, or repetitive. On July 15, 2025, YouTube clarified that it renamed “repetitious content” as “inauthentic content”; the policy applies to live streams, but a continuous format by itself does not establish whether a channel or stream will qualify. Make the programming meaningfully original or varied, and do not assume that keeping a stream live guarantees monetization. See YouTube’s channel monetization policies.

Or let it run in the cloud

StreamNeo is a cloud service for keeping a YouTube channel live from uploaded videos. Upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. It loops the videos from the cloud, so nothing has to stay on at home. Every slot streams the uploaded video as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one flat price per slot; there are no quality tiers. StreamNeo automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card, one free day per account. Monthly pricing is $9.99 per month. UPI and cards are supported in India; card checkout is available worldwide. To start, create a StreamNeo account and begin the free day.
