What “24/7 live” means on YouTube
A YouTube live stream needs an encoder to send video to YouTube’s server using a stream URL and stream key. With a cloud service, that encoder runs on the service’s infrastructure rather than on your computer. Your channel can therefore keep broadcasting prerecorded video while your laptop is off, though the cloud service still needs its own internet connection and functioning encoder.
This is for looping uploaded recordings or playlists, not for broadcasting a live camera feed. YouTube’s encoder documentation describes cloud-based streaming for prerecorded video and names Gyre as an example; that reference alone does not establish a provider’s current availability in India, pricing, limits, reliability, or terms.
Check YouTube eligibility and prepare the stream
- Confirm that live streaming is enabled. YouTube says a channel must be verified and must not have had live-streaming restrictions during the preceding 90 days. YouTube’s current help page also says streamers must be at least 16 years old.
- Open Live Control Room. Create or schedule the broadcast and retrieve the stream URL and stream key. The URL is the destination for the encoder; the key lets YouTube accept the feed.
- Keep the stream key private. Treat it like a password. Do not publish it, include it in a public screenshot, or share it with anyone who should not be able to send a feed to your channel. If it is exposed, reset it in Live Control Room and update the encoder using the new key.
- Use RTMPS when available. YouTube recommends RTMPS, the secure version of RTMP that uses TLS/SSL. Copy the exact RTMPS server URL shown in Live Control Room; do not substitute a URL from another stream or guess its format.
Set up a cloud stream from India
- Choose a service that explicitly supports continuous prerecorded-video streaming to YouTube. Before paying, confirm that it accepts customers in India and supports your intended duration, video and playlist formats, restart behavior, and output quality. YouTube’s documentation identifies the service category, but provider-specific capabilities must be checked with the provider.
- Upload or select your recording or playlist. Check that the service accepts the file format and size you plan to use, and that your account has enough storage for the material you want to loop.
- Configure YouTube as the destination. Paste the server URL and stream key from Live Control Room into the service’s YouTube destination settings. Choose RTMPS if supported and use the exact URL YouTube supplied.
- Preview before going public. Check picture, sound, and the YouTube preview. Start with a test or scheduled stream if you need to verify the setup before viewers depend on it.
- Monitor the first run. Confirm that the feed stays connected and inspect the service’s available restart, alert, or failover controls. These features vary by provider; do not assume a cloud service offers them without checking.
- Plan the archive separately. YouTube’s encoder instructions say streams shorter than 12 hours are automatically archived. That does not establish that one uninterrupted stream longer than 12 hours will be saved in full. If a complete archive matters, confirm current YouTube behavior and consider planned shorter sessions.
What to check before choosing a service
For a channel intended to run continuously, compare the following details directly with the provider. They are questions to verify, not capabilities guaranteed by YouTube or by every cloud service.

- Whether the provider currently accepts customers in India and how checkout works for your account.
- Accepted video formats, playlist behavior, maximum stream duration, and concurrent-stream limits.
- Supported output quality and protocols, including whether RTMPS is available.
- What happens after a disconnect: automatic reconnect, restart, alerting, or manual intervention.
- Storage and data allowances, plus the process for replacing or updating looped content.
- How YouTube archives are handled and whether provider-side recordings or exports are included.
- Support availability, cancellation terms, and the full price for the billing period you need.
Copyright, reused content, and channel rules
A 24/7 loop does not exempt a channel from YouTube’s rules. Only stream recordings and playlists you have the rights to use, including music, visuals, and any other material in the video. Repeatedly streaming content does not itself establish that it complies with YouTube’s copyright or monetization policies. Review the current rules for your channel and content before making a broadcast public; the materials cited here do not establish a special policy exception for continuous prerecorded streams.
Common problems and what to check
- YouTube does not accept the feed: Check that live streaming is enabled, then verify that the server URL and stream key were copied from the intended Live Control Room stream. Reset a compromised key and update the service settings.
- The stream drops or becomes unstable: YouTube warns that insufficient upload bandwidth or network disruption can interrupt a live stream. For a cloud setup, check the provider’s connection and status information, then review its reconnect or restart controls. Preview and monitor the stream rather than assuming a connection is stable.
- The video or audio is missing in the preview: Check the uploaded file and playlist selection, then confirm the cloud service is sending the intended feed before making the stream public.
- The broadcast ends without a complete archive: Do not assume a single session longer than 12 hours will be fully archived. Verify current YouTube behavior and use shorter planned sessions if a complete saved recording is important.
- The service cannot be used as expected in India: Confirm customer eligibility, checkout, supported content, stream duration, and cancellation terms with the provider before uploading material or starting a paid period.
