First find out where the repeat is happening: in YouTube playback, in a playlist, in an embedded player, or in the creator’s streaming encoder. Turn off the repeat control at that source. A viewer’s YouTube Loop setting does not control a prerecorded gameplay feed being sent to YouTube Live.
Identify what is repeating
There are four common cases, and each has a different control:

Stop a YouTube video or playlist from looping
On a computer
- Open the YouTube video and right-click inside the player to open its context menu.
- If Loop is enabled, select it to turn it off. YouTube Help describes the feature this way: “You can play a video or playlist on repeat by looping it.”
- If the video is playing from a playlist, inspect the playlist’s repeat control too. Repeating the playlist and repeating an individual video are separate settings; either can make playback start over.
On a TV or gaming console
- Open the video’s playback controls or Settings while it is playing.
- Find Repeat and switch it off. Check whether the control applies to the current item or the playlist.
Control labels and their exact locations can vary by device and YouTube app version. If you do not see the setting, identify the app and device before following steps written for a different interface.
Stop a prerecorded gameplay feed from repeating
If the same gameplay recording restarts during a YouTube live broadcast, the relevant control is in the encoder or streaming service sending the video—not the Loop setting in a viewer’s YouTube player. YouTube’s live-stream setup uses a stream URL and stream key configured in the encoder, which sends the incoming media source to YouTube.

- In your encoder or streaming service, confirm which media file or playlist is the active source.
- Check that source’s repeat, loop, or playlist behavior. Disable looping if you want the file to play once, or adjust the playlist if it is the playlist that starts over.
- Check the encoder’s outgoing preview to see whether the source continues past the point where the repeat normally occurs.
- If the outgoing preview is correct but the YouTube player still appears to repeat, check the viewer’s video and playlist repeat controls separately.
The exact menu names and steps depend on the encoder. YouTube’s live-stream settings documentation explains stream URLs, keys, and encoder setup, but does not provide app-specific instructions for turning off a media source’s loop. Avoid changing unrelated YouTube Studio settings such as stream key or broadcast settings to fix a repeat that originates in the source.
Check an embedded YouTube player
If the repeat happens only on a website with an embedded video, the page’s player configuration may request looping. In YouTube’s IFrame Player API, looping a single video uses loop=1 together with playlist set to that same video ID. The site owner should change the embed configuration; a viewer-side Repeat control may not be the underlying cause.

Troubleshoot the repeat

YouTube’s Live Streaming API treats a liveStream as the audio-video transmission and settings resource, and a liveBroadcast as the broadcast resource. That distinction reinforces why a viewer playback toggle is not a universal switch for a creator’s incoming video source.
