One free scan finds every outdated or missing driver and matches the right update for your exact hardware.Free scan · exact hardware matchTo keep a YouTube Live real estate tour active after a video file ends, keep your encoder sending video and audio, and enable looping on the source. In OBS, turn on Loop for a single Media Source, or Loop Playlist for a VLC Video source containing several clips. Check the Live Control Room preview and stream health before and during the broadcast.
Why the live stream ends when the tour video finishes
YouTube Live stays connected only while the encoder continues sending content. If playback ends and the encoder stops sending, the stream ends too. YouTube’s encoder guide puts it plainly: “To end the stream, stop sending content from your encoder.” A looping source keeps supplying footage so the encoder can continue its output. YouTube Help: Create a YouTube live stream with an encoder
Choose the right loop setup
| Approach | Best for | What to enable | Trade-off |
|---|---|---|---|
| OBS Media Source | One tour video | Loop | Simple to set up, but repeats the same footage. |
| OBS VLC Video source | A sequence of tour clips | Loop Playlist | Requires VLC to be installed and the playlist to be configured. |
| Dedicated hardware encoder | A production setup already built around external encoder hardware | The model’s playback or playlist loop function, plus YouTube output | YouTube supports hardware encoders as an option, but not every model is established to support local-file looping. Verify that feature for the exact model before buying. |
For a single property tour, OBS’s Media Source is the most direct option. For several clips, a playlist can make the repeated program less monotonous, but check the clip order and audio transitions before going live.
Set up a looping YouTube Live tour in OBS
- Create or select the event: In YouTube Studio, open Live Control Room and create or select the live event. Copy its stream URL and stream key into OBS’s stream settings. The key is a credential that directs the encoder to your stream; keep it private. See YouTube’s encoder setup guide.
- Add the tour file: In OBS, add a Media Source to the scene that will be live, then select the tour video in the source properties.
- Enable the repeat: In the Media Source properties, check Loop. OBS documents this option as replaying the file after playback completes; it is off by default. See the OBS Media Sources guide.
- Check the scene: Confirm the source is visible in the active scene and that its picture and audio are suitable. A source that is hidden or absent from the active scene will not provide the intended tour feed.
- Start output and inspect the preview: Start the encoder output and verify that Live Control Room shows the incoming video and audio before starting or confirming the event. YouTube recommends testing the stream, checking access on channel or watch pages and on mobile, and monitoring audio and video. See YouTube live streaming tips.
- Keep the encoder running: Leave OBS output active through the end-of-file transition. The loop should restart the file while OBS continues sending the feed.
- End the broadcast deliberately: When the planned broadcast is over, end it in Live Control Room and stop the encoder as appropriate. YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. That archive guidance does not guarantee uninterrupted delivery or recovery from an outage, encoder crash, or early stream ending.
Loop several tour videos with an OBS playlist
- Install VLC if it is not already installed. OBS requires VLC for its VLC Video source; on 64-bit OBS, install 64-bit VLC.
- Add a VLC Video source to the active scene and populate its playlist with the tour clips in the intended order.
- Enable Loop Playlist in the source settings so playback restarts when the playlist runs out.
- Test the transition from the final clip back to the first. Listen for abrupt audio cuts, silence, or mismatched levels, and watch the preview to confirm the source remains visible.
OBS also documents visibility behavior for VLC Video sources. Its default behavior stops playback when the source is not visible and restarts when visible. If your scene changes, check that the chosen visibility behavior is appropriate for the broadcast. OBS Media Sources documentation

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Choose stream settings and test the feed
Use settings that suit the motion and audio in the tour and the upload connection available to the encoder. YouTube recommends testing with the intended content, watching stream health, and using a two-second keyframe frequency; it says not to exceed four seconds. YouTube also recommends RTMPS for encrypted ingestion. These are platform recommendations, not a guarantee that one bitrate or resolution will work for every setup. Consult YouTube’s encoder settings, bitrates, and resolutions guidance and its live stream settings guide when configuring your encoder.
- Run a test stream and check the Live Control Room preview before the scheduled broadcast.
- Confirm the stream is accessible from the intended channel or watch page and on mobile.
- Monitor audio and video and review stream-health messages while live.
- Check the local recording or archive if you find an audio or video problem; a live preview alone may not reveal every issue in the saved recording.
Troubleshoot a stream that ends or goes blank
| Symptom | What to check | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| The event ends at the file’s last frame | Whether Loop is enabled on the actual Media Source, or Loop Playlist on the VLC Video source. | Enable the appropriate loop control, then test the end-of-file transition. OBS’s Media Source Loop control is off by default. |
| The event remains live but the picture goes blank | Whether the video source is present and visible in the active scene, and whether OBS is still outputting. | Restore the source to the active scene and check VLC source visibility behavior if using a playlist. |
| The video continues but audio cuts, drops, or changes sharply on repeat | The file’s audio ending and restart, and the transition between clips in a playlist. | Test the full loop locally and in the Live Control Room preview; adjust the source material or playlist order if the transition is unsuitable. |
| The encoder cannot connect to YouTube | The stream URL and stream key entered in the encoder. | Compare both values with the event’s settings in Live Control Room. YouTube’s typical encoder workflow requires both. |
| Playback or delivery becomes unreliable during the event | Live Control Room preview and stream-health messages, plus the local recording or archive. | Use YouTube’s live-stream troubleshooting tips and verify the encoder, source, and network during a test before relying on a long broadcast. |
Rights and archive limits to plan around
Looping a file does not establish that you have permission to rebroadcast everything in it. Confirm rights for the property footage, listing material, music, voiceover, and any other included content with the relevant rights holders before streaming.

YouTube’s encoder guide says streams shorter than 12 hours are automatically archived. Do not assume the same archive behavior for longer broadcasts; check YouTube’s current rules before scheduling one. An archive statement is not a promise that a stream will remain uninterrupted if the encoder, connection, or source fails.
