To keep an FFmpeg stream running over JioFiber, choose a bitrate your upload connection can sustain, publish to the current YouTube RTMPS address with the correct stream key, and monitor both FFmpeg and YouTube’s stream health. If FFmpeg exits, use a supervisor with logged, delayed retries. If it stays running but YouTube stops receiving data, investigate the network path and ingestion status rather than assuming a restart flag will fix it. No particular JioFiber router setting is established as a guarantee against drops.
1. Measure the connection you will actually stream over
An advertised broadband speed, especially a download figure, does not establish that your upload will remain steady enough for a live stream. Test the upload connection at the times you expect to broadcast, using the same encoder, resolution, frame rate, audio, and representative movement planned for the stream. A single speed test is only a snapshot.
YouTube likewise advises testing before going live, with audio and video movement similar to the real stream. Use its current encoder guidance for the codec, resolution, and frame rate you choose: YouTube’s encoder settings and bitrate guidance.
Start with a bitrate that leaves room for variation
YouTube’s current table lists 1080p30 H.264 at a 5 Mbps minimum and 14 Mbps recommended bitrate, and 720p30 H.264 at a 3 Mbps minimum and 8 Mbps recommended bitrate. These are YouTube encoder recommendations, not measured JioFiber upload speeds or guarantees that a given connection will sustain them continuously. If your observed upload rate varies, start below the maximum you think the connection can support, then check YouTube’s stream-health feedback during a representative test.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
The exact recommendation depends on codec, resolution, and frame rate. Do not treat one bitrate figure as suitable for every format or connection.
2. Set FFmpeg and YouTube up for the same stream
Use YouTube’s current server address and stream key
In YouTube Live Control Room, create or open the live stream and copy the server URL and stream key shown for that broadcast into your FFmpeg publishing setup. Follow YouTube’s encoder setup workflow at Create a YouTube live stream with an encoder. Treat the stream key as a password: do not expose it in a public command, shared script, screenshot, or log.
Use compatible encoding and keyframes
YouTube documents RTMP and RTMPS ingestion, H.264, H.265, and AV1 options, AAC or MP3 audio, and constant bitrate (CBR). It recommends a two-second keyframe interval and says not to exceed four seconds. RTMPS is YouTube’s recommended secure connection. Check the current YouTube table for the specific combination of codec, resolution, and frame rate you intend to send; the recommendations are not interchangeable.

3. Distinguish an FFmpeg crash from a connection drop
Keep FFmpeg’s stderr output and record its exit status. These details help establish whether the encoder stopped or whether the process remained alive while YouTube stopped receiving data.
If FFmpeg exits
Run the command under a service manager or other process supervisor that detects exit, logs each attempt, waits before retrying, and restarts it. Use a bounded delay or backoff rather than an immediate restart loop. A supervisor can relaunch an exited process; it cannot by itself correct an unstable upload path or a bad publishing configuration.
If FFmpeg stays up but ingestion stops
Inspect FFmpeg’s output errors, the local network path, and YouTube’s stream-health information. A running process is not proof that YouTube is receiving usable video. YouTube’s Live Streaming API describes stream states such as active, inactive, ready, and error, as well as health values including good, ok, bad, and noData. Its documentation also describes primary and backup ingestion addresses, including RTMPS: YouTube Live Streaming API: liveStreams.

A backup ingestion address is an advanced publishing option; it does not prevent an outage on the JioFiber connection feeding the encoder.
4. Do not rely on HTTP reconnect flags for RTMP publishing
FFmpeg’s reconnect, reconnect_on_network_error, HTTP-status retry, and related options are documented for HTTP. The RTMP section documents RTMP/RTMPS and options such as TCP keepalive, but does not establish those HTTP retry options as a universal recovery mechanism for an RTMP output. Check the documentation for the exact FFmpeg version and build you are running, and confirm which protocol your output actually uses: FFmpeg protocol documentation.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFor a process that terminates, use process supervision. For a process that remains alive without successful ingestion, diagnose the output and network path and verify YouTube’s health status; a generic HTTP retry flag is not a substitute.

5. Test the local network before changing router settings
If the encoder is on Wi-Fi, try a compatible wired Ethernet connection as a diagnostic comparison. Keep the stream settings the same and compare timestamps, observed upload performance, FFmpeg logs, and YouTube health messages. Wired networking may help identify a local wireless problem, but it will not fix an ISP-side interruption, an encoding error, or a YouTube ingestion fault.
The available evidence does not establish a JioFiber-specific router configuration, bridge mode, port-forwarding rule, or public-IP requirement for this outbound stream-to-YouTube use case. Avoid changing router settings without a symptom that points to them.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.6. Troubleshoot by the symptom you can observe
| What you observe | What to check | Next action |
|---|---|---|
| FFmpeg exits | Exit status and stderr around the failure time | Correct any reported command, input, or output error; use a supervisor with logged, delayed retries if the process needs automatic relaunch. |
| FFmpeg remains running, but YouTube reports noData or stops receiving | FFmpeg output errors, upload performance, and YouTube stream health | Check the publishing target and network path; do not assume the encoder process is delivering data just because it is alive. |
| Stream health is bad or ok rather than good | The exact health message and the selected codec, resolution, frame rate, and bitrate | Compare the configuration with YouTube’s current encoder table and test a lower bitrate if upload performance varies. |
| Drops occur only when using Wi-Fi | Whether a compatible wired connection changes the result under the same stream settings | Use Ethernet for a controlled test; it diagnoses a possible local wireless issue, not a JioFiber service guarantee. |
| FFmpeg logs show publishing trouble after an interruption | Whether the output uses RTMP/RTMPS and whether the retry setting is documented for that protocol and build | Consult the FFmpeg protocol documentation; use a supervisor for an exited process rather than treating HTTP reconnect flags as universal RTMP recovery. |
7. Account for the live archive separately
YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived after stopping. That archive behavior does not promise that restarting FFmpeg will preserve one uninterrupted live broadcast; viewers may still experience a break when publishing stops and resumes.
