To get the LGM-1 on Astra Malorum, defeat O.S.C.A.R. with all three environmental traps: the Luminarium, the telescope’s sun beam, and the Museum Infinitum rocket trap. Ordinary weapons are not the way to finish this quest. Collect the required parts, disable O.S.C.A.R.’s protective drones so traps can hurt him, then complete the trials; the LGM-1 drops after the final trap defeat.
Prepare the Astra Malorum weapon quest
Astra Malorum is a Season 01 round-based Zombies map featuring O.S.C.A.R. and the LGM-1, as described in Activision’s Season 01 announcement. The detailed quest steps below are reported in S.E. Doster’s GameSpot Astra Malorum guide, published December 5, 2025; later updates may change in-game behavior.
- Follow the orange quest markers to repair the oculus, turn on power, and activate Pack-a-Punch.
- Leave the purple Aether crystals intact until you have a Cryo Freeze weapon. The quest needs three separate crystals, and the guide warns that extra crystals may not appear often.
- Once Pack-a-Punch is unlocked, watch for O.S.C.A.R., who begins spawning then. Keep him alive while gathering parts and preparing the trials.
Collect the four quest components
Three Absolute Zero fragments
Obtain the Cryo Freeze ammo mod and use a weapon with it to shoot three different purple Aether crystals. Pick up each Absolute Zero fragment that appears. Save any remaining crystals in case you need to retry a step.
Wiring
Search the map’s exterior for the single visibly blinking outdoor light. Shoot it and collect the Wiring part.

Battery
Use a Pack-a-Punched gun to shoot the hood of Ol’ Tessie, the truck at spawn, then pick up the Battery.
Damaged Drone
Shoot one of the small drones protecting O.S.C.A.R. and collect the dropped Damaged Drone part. You will need to keep destroying his drones during the trials: while they are active, O.S.C.A.R. is invulnerable to the traps.

Defeat O.S.C.A.R. in all three trap trials
The three trials can be completed in any order. GameSpot recommends starting one late in a round, when only one or two zombies remain, to reduce pressure. If O.S.C.A.R.’s drones are still shielding him when a trap resolves, it will not kill him; clear the drones and try again in a later round.
| Trial | Setup and execution | Main challenge |
|---|---|---|
| Luminarium / Stellar Dissector | Take O.S.C.A.R. to the Observatory’s Luminarium and interact with the trap to install the Battery. Survive in the room and keep him nearby until the Battery Overcharge meter fills. | Hold the area while keeping O.S.C.A.R. close; active drones can make the completed meter fail to defeat him. |
| Observatory Dome / telescope sun beam | In the Pack-a-Punch room, find and shoot five broken steam valves across both levels; listen for hissing. Bring O.S.C.A.R. near Pack-a-Punch, activate the telescope opposite it, then align the viewfinder with the sun, which the guide describes as up and to the right. Keep him near the beam’s strike area between Pack-a-Punch and the trap. | Finding all five valves and aligning the telescope before luring him into the beam’s area. |
| Museum Infinitum / rocket trap | Lure O.S.C.A.R. close to the back of the rocket trap, then quickly activate the controls. | The rockets fire for only a few seconds. In co-op, one player can bait O.S.C.A.R. while another operates the controls; the guide notes this can be harder solo. |
When the third and final trap trial kills O.S.C.A.R., pick up the LGM-1 he drops.

What the LGM-1 does
Activision describes the LGM-1 as firing partly autonomous saucer-like projectiles that swarm nearby targets with laser fire. The saucers prioritize nearby targets and return to the weapon for replenishment. GameSpot also reports that the weapon has infinite ammunition and can be Pack-a-Punched; those details are guide-reported and could change with a later patch.
According to GameSpot, completing the quest awards one LGM-1 regardless of party size. The guide says another may appear in the Mystery Box, while Wonderbar GobbleGum guarantees a Wonder Weapon rather than specifically the LGM-1.
