Portal can offer useful XP, but rewards depend on whether an experience is Verified or Custom and on the rewards shown in its in-game description. No official source establishes a reliable current XP-per-minute ranking for named farms or bot lobbies.
Choose the progression track you want to advance
Career rank, weapon or vehicle hardware, and Battle Pass tiers share some XP sources, but they are not interchangeable. Build your session around the reward you actually want rather than assuming any XP farm advances everything at the same rate.
- Career rank: prioritize active contribution and finishing matches.
- Weapon or vehicle hardware: use the specific item you want to progress and contribute with it.
- Battle Pass tiers: earn Battle Pass XP through eligible play; paid boosts described by EA apply to tier progression, not all progression systems.
How to earn XP through ordinary play
EA lists eliminations, assists, revives, squad spawns, spotting, class actions, and match completion among XP-awarding actions. Eliminations and assists also grant weapon XP for the weapon or vehicle involved. Revives and class actions can contribute to career and Battle Pass XP. See EA’s progression explainer for the categories it describes.
For career rank
Play the objective, help your squad, and complete the match. Useful contributions include reviving teammates, spotting enemies, spawning squadmates, and performing class-specific actions. EA gives examples such as redeploying a squadmate at an Assault beacon, repairing vehicles as Engineer, resupplying as Support, and interacting with a Recon decoy.

For a weapon or vehicle
Equip the item you want to advance and use it to secure eliminations or assists where appropriate. EA also describes passive weapon XP for using weapons or vehicles during a match, so the target item need not be used only for final blows.
For Battle Pass tiers
Favor eligible play that earns Battle Pass XP, including useful class actions. EA’s current help page describes a 10% XP boost toward Battle Pass tiers with the paid Battle Pass. It describes Battlefield Pro as providing a 15% Battle Pass XP boost and 25 tier skips; those are seasonal premium benefits, so check the current season’s offer before relying on them. These benefits are stated for Battle Pass progression, not career rank or weapon XP. See EA’s Battle Pass and events guide.
Can you earn progression through Portal experiences?
Yes, but the experience’s progression label and reward description matter. EA’s Portal 101 guide says Portal provides XP and progression opportunities like Multiplayer, while noting that Community Experiences do not all grant the same amount. Read the experience menu description before joining; EA says it communicates the available rewards. The Battlefield 6 FAQ also explains that Portal reward categories vary by experience.

| Portal experience | What EA says about progression | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Verified Community Experience | Provides the same categories of EXP as official modes, including challenge, badge, and accolade progression. EA’s Portal guide also describes Career XP completion and win bonuses, Hardware XP, and Mission/Assignment progress at normal Multiplayer amounts. | Confirm the Verified label and the reward description in the experience menu. |
| Custom Community Experience | Uses modified progression rewards. EA describes Time Played EXP in its FAQ and a Career XP match-completion award in the Portal guide; Custom experiences are labeled “Modified XP.” | Read the Modified XP notice and menu description; do not infer rewards from an “XP farm” title. |
Prefer a Verified experience when you need the official-mode reward categories. A Custom experience may still grant progression, but its modified rewards should be judged from its own description rather than assumed to match Multiplayer.
Why XP-farm codes and bot-lobby claims are unreliable
An XP-farm listing or video can become outdated when an experience’s label or reward configuration changes. EA’s October 2025 community update said XP-focused bot servers had made it harder for players to create and find experiences for other people, and that the company was developing changes to reduce the problem. EA later documented the Verified-versus-Custom reward distinction in its Portal 101 guide. These sources do not establish that any named bot lobby reliably awards full XP now.
Before joining a Portal server, inspect its progression label and reward description in-game. If a video promises a specific rate or says a farm is unaffected by progression changes, treat that claim as unverified unless the current experience details support it.

What changed to XP progression
EA’s October 2025 progression update announced a 10% increase to XP from match completion, a 40% increase to the daily bonus, and lower XP requirements for the first 20 attachment ranks. It did not specify the percentage reduction for those attachment ranks. EA’s later progression explainer also describes passive weapon XP for using a weapon or vehicle and improved match-completion rewards. These are announced adjustments, not a current per-action or per-minute XP chart. Read the October 2025 community update alongside the progression explainer.
A practical route for your next session
- Pick one target: career rank, a specific weapon or vehicle, or Battle Pass tiers.
- Choose an appropriate mode or Portal experience: for Portal, check Verified or Modified XP status and the menu’s reward description before joining.
- Contribute toward that target: use the weapon or vehicle you want to advance, or focus on team and class actions that award career and Battle Pass XP.
- Finish the match: completion XP is part of EA’s listed progression sources, and the October 2025 update increased match-completion XP.
- Check the result in-game: use the progression screen and the experience’s current description rather than a third-party XP-rate claim.
EA’s documentation does not provide a current XP-per-minute comparison for named modes or farms, and per-action values and live Portal configurations can change. That makes active play, match completion, and checking the current Portal reward label more dependable guidance than a supposedly permanent farm code.
