- Check your Daily Challenges. Choose a mode and loadout that let you make progress on several challenges through normal play. The official guide recommends completing all three for a bonus XP payout, but does not give one universal payout amount.
- Play the objective and stay active. Objective play, performance, and medals all contribute to XP; kills alone are not established as the fastest route.
- Work on challenges that fit your play. Calling Card Challenges and Mastery Badges offer additional XP opportunities. The official guide does not say every challenge is equally valuable or identify one challenge as consistently fastest.
- Check your results after each match. Review the post-match XP summary and the Progression tile to see what you earned and how much XP remains for the next unlock.
Does Zombies give you XP in Black Ops 6?
Yes. Activision’s launch progression overview includes both Multiplayer and Zombies in the core Player XP progression system, described as Level 1 through Level 55. The official material does not publish a universal XP-per-hour comparison between the modes.
Choose the mode where you can reliably complete objectives and challenges. If you prefer competitive matches, try Multiplayer; if cooperative rounds suit you better, try Zombies. Compare your own post-match Player XP summaries rather than assuming one mode is always quicker.

Make sure you are earning the XP you want
Black Ops 6 tracks different kinds of progression. Activision’s beginner guide distinguishes Player XP, Weapon XP, and Battle Pass XP. Player XP advances your rank and equipment unlocks; Weapon XP advances weapon levels and attachments; Battle Pass XP applies to seasonal content. The post-match screen reports Player XP and Weapon XP, so check the category rather than treating every XP gain as rank progress.
Use the in-game Progression tile to see the next reward and the XP needed to reach it. That is more useful than relying on an old rank chart if the game’s progression details have changed.
Should you Prestige while leveling?
Prestige is a progression choice, not an XP-earning method. Activision’s guide says the option becomes available at Level 55. Entering Prestige restarts your level progression; the launch overview says each new Prestige grants one Permanent Unlock. If your immediate goal is to reach a particular rank or unlock, Prestige starts another leveling journey rather than accelerating the one you are on.

The October 2024 guide describes 10 Prestige levels and up to 1,000 Prestige Master levels. Those are figures for the documented launch system, not a guarantee that every detail remains unchanged.
Are Double XP tokens available now?
A Call of Duty League promotion listed Double XP and Double Weapon XP tokens as rewards for specified broadcasts in April 2025. Its rules said unredeemed items expired after December 31, 2025. Those were time-limited historical rewards, not evidence of a currently active promotion or a current way to obtain tokens. Check the in-game event and challenge details for current opportunities.
What the official XP advice does—and does not—establish
Activision’s leveling recommendations support a practical routine: pursue objectives, perform well, earn medals, and complete challenges in either Multiplayer or Zombies. The launch-era guides do not establish measured XP-per-hour rates, current playlist multipliers, or a mode that is always fastest. Your best choice is the one in which you can consistently make progress on challenges and earn Player XP.
