To level up Maiden Academy characters efficiently, choose a small core team first, then spend level materials on heroes who still fill a role in that team. Treat levels, stars, skills, and equipment as separate investments: if a hero reaches its level cap, check its star-up requirements before spending elsewhere. Current material costs and reset refunds are not established here, so inspect the in-game confirmation screens before committing scarce resources.
Choose a core team before upgrading broadly
Try a few team compositions early, then focus investments on heroes that remain useful in the lineup you choose. This is the resource-management advice in a Maiden Academy guide from Pocket Gamer; it is a practical starting point, not a guarantee that any particular hero will remain best as your roster changes.

Before spending heavily, ask whether the character is currently part of your team and what job it performs. A hero you expect to replace soon is a weaker candidate for scarce materials than one who fills a role your lineup needs.
Match the upgrade to the bottleneck
Maiden Academy: Idle RPG has several distinct development tracks. Its Google Play listing describes hero leveling, star increases, skill enhancement, and equipment. These are not interchangeable upgrades: consider what your team needs now rather than investing automatically in every category.

#1 Best Overall
| Upgrade track | When to consider it | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Levels | When the hero remains in your team and needs more character development. | Whether the hero is at its current level cap before allocating more level materials. |
| Stars | When a hero’s level cap is blocking further leveling. | The star-up requirements shown in the game before spending materials. |
| Skills | When the need is a skill effect rather than simply more levels. | The in-game cost and whether the skill addresses your current team bottleneck. |
| Equipment | When equipment is the relevant way to address the hero’s needs. | The item’s availability and the cost or trade-off of acquiring it. |
Check level caps and star progression together
A beginner guide from LDPlayer says star upgrades raise a hero’s level cap. If a character can no longer gain levels, check what its next star progression requires before putting more resources into level-related plans. Leveling and star advancement are connected, but each has its own requirements.
Collect routine rewards, but do not assume one activity is the best farm
The Google Play listing describes automatic battles, offline progression, one-click sweeping, and dungeon modes. Collect available idle or offline rewards and use sweeping where it is unlocked; then fit available dungeons and routine activities around your play. The listing does not quantify material yields or establish which activity provides the most efficient farm, so base farming choices on the rewards and costs currently shown in your game.

Spend shop currencies conditionally
Pocket Gamer’s guide suggests purchases such as Advanced Summon Scrolls, Advanced Stone, selected hero fragments, and Holy Book across several shops. It also recommends buying other items only when needed and saving resources. Treat those as that guide’s suggestions, not a permanent ranking: shop stock, prices, and availability may change. Check the current shop and your immediate roster needs before buying.

The Pocket Gamer guide recommends resetting a hero if that hero no longer fulfills its role. The current refund terms are not established here. Before confirming a reset, read the in-game preview for what will be returned and what will be lost; do not assume it refunds every material or currency you spent.

What the available figures do—and do not—tell you
Google Play displayed a 100K+ download bracket for the game listing when accessed in 2026. That is the store’s displayed download bracket, not an active-player count. Neither the listing nor the guides cited here provides a current version-specific table of level costs, star-up requirements, reset refunds, or live shop inventories. Use the upgrade, reset, and shop screens in your client as the authority for those values.
