Link your Xbox account from Battle.net Account Management → Connections: find Xbox Network, select +Connect, then authorize the Microsoft account you actually use on Xbox. Before unlinking anything, check which account is connected and read the cooldown shown in Account Management—Blizzard says support cannot bypass it.
Link Battle.net to the right Xbox account
- Sign in to the Battle.net account you want to use, then open Account Management → Connections.
- Find Xbox Network. If no Xbox account is listed, select +Connect.
- Complete Microsoft’s authorization flow while signed in to the Xbox/Microsoft account you intend to connect. Check the identity shown during authorization before approving it.
- Return to Connections and confirm that the displayed Xbox account is the intended one.
Blizzard’s Game Pass setup guidance also instructs players to check that the relevant Ultimate or PC Game Pass subscription is active. Confirm the subscription belongs to the same Xbox account displayed in Connections; you can also check Microsoft’s Services & subscriptions page.

Existing links made before March 5, 2024
If the accounts were linked before March 5, 2024, Blizzard says an additional confirmation action may appear beside the Xbox listing. Look for that action in Connections and complete it if shown.
Diagnose the problem before changing the link
Different symptoms point to different causes. Check the account mapping and eligibility before treating the issue as a network failure.

If the wrong Xbox account is linked
First identify the account currently shown in Battle.net Connections. Blizzard’s Game Pass verification guidance says that when more than 90 days have elapsed since linking, the listed account can be disconnected and the correct one connected. If that threshold has not elapsed, the guidance says a new or different Battle.net account may be needed to link the intended Xbox account.
Do not assume the 90-day path applies to every link or unlink. Read the warning and cooldown shown on your account page before taking action. Blizzard’s third-party account-linking guidance says certain new connections can require waiting up to 30 days, and customer support cannot bypass account-link cooldowns. These are distinct rules described for different circumstances, not interchangeable promises about when every account can be relinked.

If an account is already linked elsewhere
Blizzard’s account-linking rules limit a Battle.net account to one Xbox account, and an Xbox account cannot be linked to multiple Battle.net accounts. Check the connection on both sides to find which existing link is blocking the one you want.
The Battle.net account must be fully registered rather than a trial account. If you find an unwanted existing connection, removal may be subject to the cooldown shown in Account Management; check that warning before disconnecting it.

If authorization is rejected
For “Provider did not accept user authorization” or another Xbox-to-Battle.net linking error, verify that the Microsoft identity being authorized is the one you mean to connect. Then consult Blizzard’s exact error articles: Game Pass account verification, third-party account linking, and Blizzard Support’s listing for “Unable to link Xbox Account – ‘Provider did not accept user authorization’”. The dedicated error listing identifies the message, but its current detailed resolution steps are not established here; avoid treating browser or cache changes as Blizzard-prescribed fixes.

If account linking is correct but Overwatch 2 reports LC-202, follow Blizzard’s Overwatch 2 Console Error LC-202 guidance. For that specific disconnected-from-game-server error, Blizzard recommends checking firewall, router, and port configuration; resetting network devices; improving wireless connectivity; and running the console’s built-in network test.

Those steps address console game connectivity, not an incorrect Xbox identity, a rejected authorization, or a link cooldown. Blizzard also warns that disconnecting and reconnecting a linked console account can start a cooldown.
