You can connect your Xbox account with Steam for supported social and game features, but you cannot link a Game Pass subscription to Steam to make its games Steam entitlements. The steps depend on whether you want to connect accounts, organize your PC game library, or carry a particular game’s progress across platforms.
What linking Xbox and Steam does
The Xbox PC app offers Steam account linking as a social feature: Xbox says you can connect with friends across social networks including Steam, Discord, and Twitch. That connection does not move a Game Pass subscription or its game licenses into Steam. Xbox PC app
Some games also let you sign in to Xbox Network while playing through Steam. Support for that kind of account link depends on the game; Microsoft’s policy says titles outside Xbox consoles can choose whether to allow account linking. Microsoft account-linking policy
How to connect your Xbox and Steam accounts
These are reported routes to the account settings, not guaranteed labels for every app version. The linking option may also depend on the game or feature you are using.

Sign in to the Microsoft/Xbox account you intend to use in the Xbox PC app or Xbox Game Bar.

In the Xbox app, look for Profile & Settings > Settings > Account. In Game Bar, open it with Windows+G, then look for Settings > Accounts. Menu wording can differ between builds. These paths were reported in a Microsoft Community reply.

If you are linking from Steam, launch a game that supports Xbox account linking and follow its sign-in prompt. The prompt and available options are game-specific.

Before confirming, check that the Microsoft/Xbox and Steam identities shown are the accounts you want to associate. Linking does not change where you bought the game or merge existing saves.

Can you add Game Pass games to your Steam library?
Not as Steam-owned games. Game Pass access and Steam purchases are separate: connecting accounts does not convert Game Pass access into a Steam license. The Xbox PC app can show Game Pass access alongside installed games from other PC storefronts, but that aggregated library is for viewing or launching games—not for combining purchases or licenses. Will your saves or progress carry over?
Not necessarily. Account linking alone does not guarantee cross-progression, cross-play, or shared entitlements. Each game must implement the specific feature, and its rules may differ between platforms. Check the game’s official support information for its save and account-linking behavior before relying on a transfer. Microsoft’s documentation describes account linking as something a game can choose to support, while its PlayFab Steam identity-provider documentation covers implementation for developers.
