That sentence confirms the feature’s scope, but not how a player activates it. There is no official pre-release documentation in the announcement or music page showing a D-pad shortcut, pause-menu path, phone app, station wheel, podcast menu, or character-specific control. Treat those details as unknown until Rockstar publishes final documentation or the released game reveals them.
Can you listen to GTA 6 radio while walking?
Yes. Walking is one of the explicitly confirmed listening situations. Jason and Lucia can hear radio and on-demand podcasts away from a vehicle by using headphones or earbuds linked to their in-game smartphones.

Rockstar has confirmed on-foot availability, but has not said whether audio can continue during every mission, cutscene, combat encounter, swimming section, scripted chase, or other gameplay state. It also has not explained whether a character must be carrying or equipping a particular in-game item beyond the announced headphones or earbuds connection.
What the confirmation means in practice
- Walking through Leonida is an intended listening context, not merely a vehicle feature.
- Headphones or earbuds are the announced on-foot equipment.
- The equipment connects to Jason and Lucia’s smartphones inside the game.
- Both conventional radio and on-demand podcasts are included in the announcement.
- The exact interaction for starting, pausing, changing, or resuming audio remains undocumented.
How listening is expected to work in vehicles and on foot
Rockstar has described the feature by context rather than by a step-by-step control guide. It does not state whether every vehicle has identical audio controls, whether passengers can change a station, whether motorcycles and boats use the same interface, or whether a vehicle’s condition affects playback. While walking
On-foot audio is tied to headphones or earbuds connected to the protagonists’ smartphones. Rockstar has not shown whether the phone must be opened, whether audio can be started from a quick menu, or whether the headphones appear automatically when playback begins. A reliable launch guide should add those exact steps only after they are documented in the final game.
Jason and Lucia
The official announcement names both Jason and Lucia. It does not say that one character has more stations, different controls, exclusive podcasts, or a separate catalog. Until Rockstar specifies otherwise, the confirmed claim is that both protagonists can experience the announced radio and podcast feature.

Rockstar’s official music page, published October 8, 2026, currently presents six hand-picked station previews. The page describes their genres and hosts, but it does not provide a definitive final station roster or complete track lists.

For modern Latin music: Cocoteo
Cocoteo is the preview to choose if you want a contemporary Latin focus. Its announced hosts are El Martillo and La Gata. Rockstar has not published a complete track list, so the genre description is the dependable way to identify its sound before release.
For country: Back Country
Back Country is described as renegade country and is hosted by MW and Delta Dawne. The “renegade” label is Rockstar’s characterization; it does not establish a specific decade, subgenre breakdown, or number of songs.
For African music: Afro Bank FM
Afro Bank FM covers African music, with amapiano and 3-step specifically named in the preview. Burna and Palmsy are the listed hosts. The page does not say whether those styles represent the whole station or selected portions of a broader playlist.

For metal: The Chamber
The Chamber is Rockstar’s metal-focused preview, hosted by DJ Kerry and DJ Tom. No complete artist list, song list, or programming schedule has been released on the preview page.
For pop: Flash FM
Flash FM is the pop station preview, with Robyn and Alex as hosts. Its listing confirms the broad genre and presenters, not an exhaustive playlist or a promise that every pop track in the game will appear there.
For regional rap and hip-hop classics: Dirty South Classics
Dirty South Classics is described as regional rap and hip-hop classics and is hosted by Trick and Trina. “Classics” identifies the station’s programming angle; it does not establish a particular time period or complete set of artists.
Are these all the GTA 6 stations?
No. The six stations are the ones Rockstar has previewed on the current official music page, not a confirmed final total. The page also says that Grand Theft Auto VI has “the biggest and widest-ranging selection of in-game radio and podcasts yet,” spanning stations dedicated to genres from Classic Rock to Talk Radio. That is Rockstar’s promotional comparison, not an independently measured station count or benchmark.
Because the page does not supply a definitive roster, avoid treating unannounced station names, leaked lists, rumored hosts, or fan-made playlists as confirmed. A station can be discussed as part of the game only after Rockstar adds it to an official announcement, final documentation, or the released game.

For the latest official station information, check Rockstar’s music page rather than relying on a copied list whose date and source are unclear.
Can you listen to podcasts in GTA 6?
Yes. On-demand podcasts are a confirmed new feature, and Rockstar says they can be experienced in vehicles and on foot. They are presented as content beyond Leonida’s terrestrial radio, so they should be understood as a separate listening category rather than simply another music station.

Rockstar has not yet published the podcast titles, episode count, hosts, release schedule, playback controls, or whether episodes can be selected in a particular order. - Whether stations are changed with a radial selector, phone interface, pause menu, touch control, or another method.
- Whether podcasts have a separate menu from radio.
- How playback is paused, resumed, muted, or restarted.
- Whether controls differ between Jason and Lucia.
- Whether controls change by vehicle type, mission, or gameplay state.
- Whether headphones or earbuds must first be acquired, equipped, charged, or selected in an inventory screen.
Those are not omissions a pre-release article can responsibly fill with guesses. When Rockstar publishes final documentation, a useful update should quote the exact platform-specific path and identify any restrictions, instead of importing controls from an older game.
Platforms and access to the feature
Rockstar Customer Support lists PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S for Grand Theft Auto VI and says the Standard Edition includes the game. The support page does not provide the radio-control instructions, so platform availability should not be confused with a documented input layout.
The confirmed feature is part of the game experience; Rockstar has not said that players need to buy a separate audio product, soundtrack edition, or premium upgrade to hear in-game radio. The announcement names headphones or earbuds as the in-game method for walking audio, but does not specify a real-world model or retailer.

It is not the number of songs in the game’s radio system, and the page does not establish that the album reproduces station playlists or includes every radio track. Buying or listening to the album is therefore optional and does not replace owning the game to use its interactive radio and podcast features.

Keep the two experiences separate:
- In-game radio and podcasts: interactive audio experienced in vehicles or through on-foot headphones or earbuds.
- Grand Theft Auto VI: The Album: a separate release with 34 original tracks as described on Rockstar’s music page.
What to verify when GTA 6 launches
A complete how-to guide can be written only after the final controls and catalog are available. These are the specific questions that still need official answers:
- Open the final control guide. Confirm the exact PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S inputs for opening audio controls.
- Test station selection. Record how a player moves between stations, returns to a previous station, and handles a station with no available playback in a particular state.
- Test podcast selection. Determine whether podcasts use a separate menu, a phone app, or the same selector as radio.
- Check on-foot equipment. Confirm how Jason or Lucia obtains, equips, connects, and removes the announced headphones or earbuds.
- Check gameplay restrictions. Verify whether audio continues during missions, combat, swimming, cutscenes, scripted sequences, and character switches.
- Compare platforms. Note any differences between PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S controls or menu labels.
- Update the station roster. Replace the preview list with the final lineup and identify which entries were previews rather than the complete roster.
- Separate catalog claims. Keep radio tracks, podcast episodes, singles, and the 34-track commercial album identified as different things.
This checklist prevents a common pre-release error: presenting a confirmed feature together with an invented procedure. Until those answers are published, the responsible instruction is to use the announced listening contexts and wait for the final control documentation.
