Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsTo livestream an interview on YouTube, first enable live streaming on your channel, then choose the setup that fits the conversation: YouTube Studio webcam for a simple host setup, Go live together for a quick mobile interview with one guest, or an encoder for a traditional landscape production with more control. Schedule the event, test both speakers and the connection, and check the preview before you go live.
Choose the interview format that fits
| Method | Where it starts | Guest and layout | Best suited to |
|---|---|---|---|
| Computer webcam | YouTube Studio in a web browser | Simple webcam and microphone selection; the webcam help page does not establish a built-in remote-guest workflow. | A solo host or basic interview setup where the guest is handled through a supported production method. |
| Go live together | Mobile phone; you can schedule the event on desktop and start it on a phone. | Invite link and waiting room; vertical by default and only one guest appears at a time. | A quick mobile co-stream with one guest. |
| Encoder | Software or hardware encoder connected to YouTube Live Control Room. | Can combine external audio and video; the exact remote-guest workflow depends on the software. Offers the most control over landscape layout, multiple cameras, overlays, and screen sharing. | A conventional landscape interview or a production that needs additional sources and controls. |
The encoder is a practical choice for a controlled, multi-source interview because Go live together is vertical by default and shows one guest at a time. That is a format-based recommendation, not a YouTube ranking of these methods. YouTube says you do not need expensive equipment to start; prioritize clear speech and a stable connection.
Check channel eligibility before event day
- Verify your YouTube channel and confirm it has no live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days.
- Confirm the account meets YouTube’s stated minimum age of 16 for livestreaming.
- Enable livestreaming in YouTube Studio early. First-time activation can take up to 24 hours.
- If you plan to use Go live together, confirm that the creator is eligible for that feature. YouTube describes it as available to eligible creators but the reviewed help page does not give a universal eligibility checklist.
These eligibility details come from YouTube Help pages checked on October 3, 2026; interface labels and requirements can change. Check YouTube’s current guidance before relying on them for a scheduled event.
Set up the chosen production method
Option 1: Stream from a computer webcam
- In YouTube Studio, select Create → Go live → Webcam.
- Enter the title and other stream details, and choose the privacy setting deliberately.
- Select the intended webcam and microphone. Check the preview to make sure you have the right devices and framing.
- Start the broadcast when you are ready. This Studio route does not require separate encoding software.
The webcam route is the straightforward option when one camera and microphone are enough. If a remote guest needs to appear on screen, arrange a supported production method rather than assuming the webcam workflow will combine callers for you.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Option 2: Use YouTube’s Go live together feature
- On the mobile device, create or edit a live stream and enable Go live together. You can schedule the event on desktop, but the stream must be started from a phone.
- Copy the guest invite link and send it privately. The guest follows it to the waiting room.
- Check both participants’ audio and video while the guest is waiting. Add the guest and start the live when you are ready.
- Keep the layout limitation in mind: the view defaults to vertical and shows only one co-streamer at a time.
The host can see analytics in Studio; the guest does not receive guest analytics there. Check both connections before starting, since the guest’s network also affects the conversation.
Option 3: Produce the interview with an encoder
- In YouTube Live Control Room, create a stream and copy its stream URL and stream key.
- In your encoder, enter the YouTube stream URL and key. Connect the camera, microphone, and any other sources you plan to use.
- Start the encoder and wait for the incoming preview in Live Control Room.
- Check the preview and stream health, then select Go live in Live Control Room to start the public broadcast.
Treat the stream key like a password: only enter it in the production system that needs it, and reset it if it is exposed. YouTube recommends RTMPS, its secure extension to RTMP, when your encoder supports it.

Schedule the interview and prepare the guest
- In Live Control Room, open Manage → Schedule stream.
- Choose whether to use new settings or appropriate settings from a previous stream, then enter the event details and select the privacy setting.
- Check the actual privacy setting rather than relying on its default: YouTube says defaults differ for users aged 13–17 and users 18 or older.
- Share the scheduled watch-page link with the guest and audience. Viewers may be able to find the upcoming event and select Notify me.
Send the guest a separate run-of-show with the start time and time zone, how to join, preferred device orientation, microphone and headphone expectations, interview order, and a backup way to contact you. These are practical production checks, not YouTube requirements.
Test the audio, video, and connection
Check the conversation, not just the meters
- Rehearse with speech and movement similar to the actual interview. YouTube recommends testing under realistic conditions.
- Confirm every speaker is audible, framed correctly, and using the intended microphone and camera.
- Use headphones when useful for monitoring, and check that the guest does not hear distracting echo. Headphones can help with monitoring but do not guarantee that echo is eliminated.
- If using an encoder, set it up at least two hours before the event and start it at least 15 minutes before the scheduled start. Check the Live Control Room preview before going live.
- If a backup encoder is configured, test its failover before the event.
Leave room in your upload bandwidth
YouTube recommends keeping the combined outgoing stream bitrate within your available upload bandwidth, with roughly 20% headroom. If you use a backup stream, include its bitrate in the total. Test upload speed—not only download speed—on the connection you will actually use, and avoid assuming a speed-test result guarantees a stable broadcast.

Monitor the live interview and check the replay
Keep Live Control Room visible, or use its compact Live Control Panel where available. Watch stream health and listen for audio problems while keeping attention on the guest and conversation. When finished, end the stream from YouTube Studio or Live Control Room and stop the encoder as your workflow requires.
YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. After the broadcast, check the channel’s Live tab to confirm that the replay is present and usable.

Troubleshooting common interview problems
| Symptom | Likely cause | What to check or do |
|---|---|---|
| The channel cannot start a live | Verification, a recent live-streaming restriction, age eligibility, or initial activation may be an issue. | Check channel status and eligibility in Studio well before the event; allow up to 24 hours for first-time activation. |
| The guest cannot join or appear | The host may be using the wrong workflow, the guest may still be in the waiting room, or a connection may be unreliable. | For Go live together, start from a phone, verify the invite link, and check both participants’ video and audio before adding the guest. Only one guest is visible at a time. |
| The stream has no picture or sound | The wrong camera or microphone may be selected, or the encoder may not be sending the intended source. | Check device selection in the webcam setup or encoder, then confirm the Live Control Room preview before going live. |
| Video or audio becomes unstable | The outgoing bitrate may be too close to or above available upload capacity, or the connection may fluctuate. | Check upload capacity, reduce the outgoing demand if necessary, and preserve YouTube’s recommended roughly 20% headroom. Rehearse on the event connection. |
| The encoder preview does not appear | The encoder may not be connected to the correct YouTube stream URL or key, or may not be sending a signal. | Recheck the URL and key in the encoder, verify the selected sources, and wait for the Live Control Room preview before selecting Go live. |
| The replay is missing | The stream may not have been archived or may not appear where expected. | Check the channel’s Live tab after ending the broadcast. Automatic archiving is stated for streams under 12 hours. |
Copyright and keeping the interview available
Before the event, make sure you have the rights or permissions needed for music, video clips, images, and other material you include. A guest’s permission to be interviewed is separate from permission to use third-party media in the stream. YouTube’s live-streaming guidance is not a substitute for reviewing the rights attached to material in your production. If you plan to keep the replay public, check the finished archive as well as the live broadcast.
Or let it run in the cloud
If your goal is to keep uploaded video running as a YouTube live stream outside the interview itself, StreamNeo is a cloud service for looping uploaded videos or playlists. It is not a live camera-interview tool: you upload a recording, add your YouTube stream key, and go live.
