To rotate videos in a creator-owned live feed, prepare the changing source on your side and send it to YouTube through a streaming encoder or service. If you only want to repeat a regular playlist, use YouTube’s Loop or Repeat control.
First: are you watching a playlist or running a live stream?
These are different jobs with different controls. A viewer can loop an ordinary YouTube playlist. A creator’s Live broadcast receives an audio-video feed from the creator’s streaming setup; YouTube’s playlist loop control does not schedule new files into that feed.

Loop a regular YouTube playlist
On desktop or mobile
- Open a video that belongs to the playlist.
- Expand the playlist panel.
- Select Loop in the playlist box.
That repeats the playlist for playback in the player. YouTube’s interface can vary by device; use the device-specific controls shown in YouTube Help’s playlist loop instructions.
On a TV or game console
Open the playlist, show the playback controls, and select Repeat until the control indicates Repeat • Playlist. This is still viewer-side playback, not a creator scheduling feature.

For an embedded playlist
The YouTube IFrame Player API documentation describes loading a playlist with listType=playlist and its playlist ID in list. Its loop parameter repeats the playlist and starts again at the first video. These parameters govern an embedded player, not the incoming content of a Live stream. See YouTube Embedded Players and Player Parameters.
Make a creator-owned Live feed change source videos
For a Live broadcast, YouTube receives the audio and video supplied by the creator’s streaming setup. In YouTube’s API model, a liveStream describes the transmission setup and its content-delivery settings; a liveBroadcast represents the YouTube event viewers watch. The creator’s source or encoder—not the viewer’s playlist Loop control—must provide the video that goes out over the stream.

Choose whether you need one changing broadcast or separate events
- One continuous broadcast whose source changes over time: use a source or streaming service that can play or schedule the files and supply the changing feed. This follows from YouTube’s encoder/feed model; YouTube’s cited documentation does not specify a daily playlist scheduler or guarantee seamless transitions.
- Separate scheduled broadcasts: YouTube’s API guide describes creating separate broadcast resources, binding them to a stream, and transitioning each event to testing or live as appropriate. Its recurring-event example uses the same streaming settings while each broadcast can have unique video content.
The YouTube Live API guide to broadcasts and streams explains these roles and the recurring-event example. It describes broadcast setup, not a native feature that replaces a video in one continuous broadcast every day.
Practical setup sequence
- Prepare the videos and rotation plan. Decide which file or files should play on each day and whether the channel needs one continuous event or separate events. The daily choice has to be represented in the source or streaming workflow.
- Choose a source or encoder that supports your intended rotation. Before relying on it, verify that it can select or schedule the files on the required days, run unattended for the time you need, and handle a lost connection in a way you accept. The cited YouTube pages do not endorse a particular encoder or prescribe a daily rotation procedure.
- Configure the YouTube stream and event. Use the channel’s Live setup and the encoder’s stream settings to send the feed to YouTube. In the API model, the stream carries the transmission settings and a broadcast is the event shown to viewers. Follow the instructions for the specific encoder or service you choose; there is no universal daily-playlist setting in YouTube Help.
- Test the source change before relying on it. Confirm that the intended file plays at the intended time and that the YouTube event receives the changed feed. A source changing files and a YouTube broadcast starting or ending are separate actions, so verify the behavior your chosen workflow actually supports.
Keep event lifecycle behavior separate from video rotation
The LiveBroadcast API reference describes one YouTube video per broadcast, scheduled start and end times, and automatic start/stop settings associated with a bound stream. An omitted scheduled end time is treated as continuing indefinitely. Those lifecycle settings do not select a new source video each day.

- Can it change files on the schedule you need, or does it only repeat a fixed playlist?
- Does it keep one continuous broadcast running, or start separate scheduled broadcasts?
- Can it run unattended, and what happens if the connection to YouTube drops?
- Do its cost and local-versus-cloud requirements suit your schedule?
These are workflow questions, not settings supplied by YouTube’s playlist Loop control. YouTube documents the player controls and the broadcast/stream concepts, but not an end-to-end daily file-rotation recipe.
