To keep a Malayalam menu video playing for everyone watching your restaurant’s YouTube Live broadcast, loop it in streaming software such as OBS Studio. YouTube’s Loop control repeats playback only for the viewer who turns it on; it does not make your channel broadcast the video live on repeat. YouTube explains viewer-side looping, while OBS Media Sources can loop a local video file or playlist.
Choose the right kind of loop

If the goal is a live menu broadcast for customers, use the encoder method. The viewer-side control does not send a live signal from your channel.
Prepare the Malayalam menu video
- Use a video that your restaurant owns or has permission to broadcast, including its music, photographs, and other included material.
- Check that dish names, prices, dietary notes, and availability are current. Replace or edit the file when the menu changes.
- Use Malayalam in the video itself when Malayalam is the required broadcast language. YouTube’s preferred-language settings do not change the creator’s live feed; viewers can select another audio track only when one is available for that video. YouTube’s language guidance describes preferred-language and audio-track settings.
- Preview the video on the kinds of screens your customers are likely to use. Make sure menu text is readable and spoken Malayalam is intelligible.
Loop a single video in OBS and broadcast it
- Check that your channel can go live. YouTube says the channel must be verified and have no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days; streamers must be at least 16. Review YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility and rules before scheduling.
- Create an OBS scene. Install OBS Studio, open it, and add a scene for the menu broadcast. In the Sources panel, select + → Media Source, give the source a name, choose the local video file, and enable Loop. Confirm the preview shows the intended video and that its audio is enabled. OBS documents these controls in its Media Sources guide.
- Create or schedule the YouTube Live event. In YouTube Studio, choose Create → Go live, then use the encoder workflow to create or schedule the event. Exact labels and placement can change; consult the current YouTube encoder setup instructions if the interface differs.
- Connect OBS to YouTube. In the Live Control Room, copy the stream URL and stream key. In OBS, open Settings → Stream, select YouTube as the service, and enter the connection details as prompted. Treat the stream key like a password: anyone with it may be able to send a feed to your event. Do not publish it or include it in screenshots.
- Start the encoder and inspect the preview. Start streaming in OBS, then wait for the feed to appear in YouTube’s Live Control Room. Check the video, menu text, audio level, and Malayalam playback before selecting Go live in YouTube Studio.
- Monitor the live broadcast. Keep an eye on stream health and accessibility while the event is running. YouTube’s live-streaming tips recommend checking the preview and monitoring audio and video quality.
Loop a playlist of menu videos
For a sequence of clips—for example, separate sections for meals, snacks, and drinks—use OBS’s VLC Video source rather than adding each file as a separate scene. OBS says VLC must be installed for this source to appear.
- Install VLC on the computer running OBS.
- In the scene’s Sources panel, select + → VLC Video.
- Add the local video files in the intended order and enable Loop Playlist.
- Preview the sequence, including the change between clips, before connecting and starting the YouTube Live encoder using the steps above.

Copyright, community rules, and long broadcasts
Only broadcast material you have the right to use. This includes background music and any third-party visuals in the menu video. YouTube says live content must comply with its Community Guidelines and Terms of Service; check its live-streaming guidance before going live. A live format does not grant permission to rebroadcast copyrighted material.
YouTube automatically archives encoder streams that are under 12 hours. For streams longer than 12 hours, DVR pause and rewind may be limited or unavailable, so do not promise viewers that they can rewind a very long broadcast. Common problems and fixes
- The video repeats for you, but the channel is not live: you enabled YouTube’s viewer-side Loop control. Set Loop on the OBS source and send that source through a YouTube Live encoder event instead.
- The Live Control Room has no preview: check that OBS is streaming to the correct event and that the stream URL and key were copied correctly. Keep the key private; if it may have been exposed, replace or reset it in YouTube Studio before reconnecting.
- The video plays once and stops: reopen the Media Source properties and confirm Loop is enabled. For a multi-file source, confirm Loop Playlist is enabled.
- The playlist source is missing in OBS: OBS requires VLC to be installed for its VLC Video source. Install VLC, restart OBS if necessary, then add the source again.
- Menu text or Malayalam audio is hard to follow: revise the source video and inspect it in the Live Control Room preview before going live. Do not assume a viewer’s preferred-language setting will translate or change the broadcast.
- Viewers cannot rewind a long stream: YouTube may limit or disable DVR on streams longer than 12 hours. Plan the broadcast duration and set viewer expectations accordingly.
