Use OBS Studio to loop one flute recording or a playlist on YouTube Live, test the repeat transition, and clear rights for the specific performance and recording.

To loop Indian classical flute meditation music on YouTube Live, add a recording to an OBS Studio scene as a Media Source and enable Loop. OBS repeats the file locally while it sends the continuing feed to YouTube. For a rotation of separate recordings, use OBS’s VLC Video source with a playlist instead. Before going live, confirm that you have permission to broadcast the specific performance and recording.

Choose a single recording or a playlist

Playback setup Best for What to know
OBS Media Source One prepared video file containing the music, with an optional still or animated visual. OBS provides a Loop option for the source. It is the simpler choice for one continuous arrangement.
OBS VLC Video source Several separate tracks that you want to arrange in a playlist. OBS documents playlist looping as enabled by default. VLC must be installed for this source.

OBS Media Source accepts common video formats such as MP4, MOV, MKV and WebM, as well as audio formats such as MP3, AAC, OGG and WAV. If using an audio-only file, add a visual source too so the broadcast has the intended on-screen image. See the OBS Media Sources guide.

Set up the loop in OBS Studio

  1. Prepare the media. Use a recording you are authorized to broadcast. For a single track, choose a file that plays as you intend; for separate tracks, organize the files and their playlist order before configuring the source.
  2. Create or select a scene. In OBS Studio, select a scene or create one for the music stream. Add the visual you want viewers to see, such as a still image, if the media file does not already contain video.
  3. Add the recording. In the Sources panel, select + and choose Media Source. Create a new source, browse to the file, and confirm. Enable the source’s Loop option.
  4. For multiple tracks, use a playlist instead. Add a VLC Video source, create or select its playlist, and add the files in the desired order. Check Loop Playlist; OBS documents this setting as on by default. The OBS Studio Overview Guide describes working with scenes and sources.
  5. Connect OBS to YouTube. In YouTube Studio, start the live-stream setup and use the stream key and connection method shown for your stream in OBS’s streaming settings. Treat the stream key as a password: do not share it or show it on screen. YouTube’s current account requirements and available controls can vary, so check your own Studio interface.
  6. Check the feed before making it public. Confirm the incoming YouTube preview shows the expected image and that the audio is audible and not unintentionally doubled. Let the file reach its end and start again at least once; look for a pause, blank frame, or abrupt audio cut. The loop setting controls playback in OBS, but OBS still has to send that playback feed to YouTube.
  7. Start the broadcast only after the preview is right. Monitor OBS playback and the YouTube live preview after starting. If the source stops, verify the file path and that the correct source is active in the scene.

Clear the music rights before broadcasting

Check the rights for the particular sound recording and performance, not only the underlying composition. A traditional or old composition does not automatically make a modern performance or recording free to livestream. Permission should cover YouTube Live, the territories where you intend to broadcast, and any replay you plan to retain. The applicable rights depend on the specific recording and permissions; these sources do not establish a blanket rule for Indian classical repertoire or a particular Indian-law license.

YouTube says live streams are scanned for third-party content. If it detects a match, it may replace the stream with a placeholder and warn you to stop using that content; if it continues, the live stream may be interrupted or terminated. For licensed content that matches Content ID, YouTube says to ask the rights owner to add your channel to its allowlist. See YouTube’s live-stream copyright guidance.

YouTube’s music guidance says music should be in the public domain or used with the copyright owner’s permission. A track described online as “free” is not, by itself, proof that livestream use is allowed. YouTube recommends its Audio Library and advises checking third-party music license terms for the permitted uses. Read YouTube’s tips to find safe music and keep evidence of any permission you rely on.

Troubleshoot common loop problems

  • The music plays once and stops: Reopen the Media Source properties and make sure Loop is enabled. If using VLC Video, check Loop Playlist and confirm the playlist contains the intended files.
  • The scene is blank or shows the wrong image: Check that the media source is active and visible in the selected scene, and that the file path still points to an accessible file. Confirm the separate visual source is also visible if you are using audio-only media.
  • The track repeats with an awkward gap or cut: Review the file’s ending and beginning, then test a complete transition in OBS before going live. The repeat option does not remove silence or edit the recording’s endpoints.
  • YouTube interrupts or replaces the live feed: Check YouTube Studio for a copyright warning. Stop using content you do not have permission to broadcast; if you are licensed, contact the rights owner about Content ID allowlisting.
  • The feed does not reach YouTube: Check that OBS is connected using the stream key and method shown in YouTube Studio, and confirm the stream key has not been changed or mistyped. Keep the key private.

Or let it run in the cloud

If you want the recording to keep looping without leaving a computer on, StreamNeo runs an uploaded video as a YouTube stream from the cloud. Upload the recording, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. It plays uploaded videos, not a live camera feed.
