How to Loop Podcast Episodes on a YouTube Live Stream

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

To loop a podcast episode on a YouTube live stream, play the recording in an encoder such as OBS, set the media source or playlist to repeat, and send that feed to YouTube through Live Control Room. The recording plays again inside the broadcast; it is not the same as a viewer selecting Loop in YouTube’s video player. Keep the computer running while using this local method.

Before you start: check YouTube Live eligibility

  • Your channel must be verified and must not have live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days.
  • You must be at least 16 to livestream.
  • If live streaming is not available, check the channel’s eligibility and restrictions before troubleshooting OBS.

YouTube describes live streaming as a way to interact with an audience through a video feed and chat. Encoder streaming is one of YouTube’s supported ways to send that feed. See YouTube Help: Get started with live streaming.

Loop an episode with OBS

1. Create or choose the YouTube live stream

  1. Open YouTube Studio and go to the Live Control Room.
  2. Create a stream or select the scheduled broadcast you intend to use.
  3. Use YouTube’s current stream connection controls to connect OBS. Keep the stream key private: anyone who gets it may be able to send a feed to your broadcast. Do not show it in screenshots or share it in public.

YouTube’s interface can change, so use the current labels shown in Studio rather than relying on an old button name. YouTube’s encoder guidance is available in Set up your encoder for live streaming.

2. Add the podcast recording in OBS

  1. Open OBS and add the episode file as a media or video source in the scene you want to broadcast.
  2. Open that source’s properties and enable its loop or repeat option. The exact wording and location can vary by OBS version and source type.
  3. If you want several episodes to play in sequence, add them using a playlist-capable source or workflow, arrange the episode order, and enable repeat for the playlist. Confirm that the last item returns to the first rather than stopping.

OBS’s community guidance covers configuring sources and sending them to YouTube, but its screens may not match your installed version: OBS community guide to streaming to YouTube.

Elebase USB to USB C Adapter for iPhone 18 Pro Max,USBC Car Charger Adapter
  • Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
  • Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
  • Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
  • Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
  • 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.

3. Connect OBS and verify the incoming feed

  1. Configure OBS to send its output to the YouTube stream you selected. Follow the current OBS and YouTube connection prompts; do not expose your stream key.
  2. Start the feed from OBS, then return to YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room.
  3. Wait for the incoming preview and check the stream status before making the broadcast live to viewers. Confirm that audio and video are present and that playback starts as expected.
  4. Once live, monitor the feed and the episode transition. The local method depends on the computer, OBS, and internet connection continuing to operate.

What to check in the recording and playlist

  • Playback: Verify the source itself is set to repeat. Repeating a YouTube player for a viewer does not make the outgoing live broadcast loop.
  • Playlist order: If using multiple episodes, check the sequence and the transition from the final item back to the first.
  • Audio: Listen to the Studio preview before going live and check the broadcast after it starts.
  • Rights: Make sure you have the necessary rights or permissions for the podcast recording and any music, clips, or other material in it. A live format does not remove copyright obligations.
  • Audience expectations: Label the broadcast clearly as a replay or loop if viewers could otherwise mistake prerecorded material for a live recording.

The available official YouTube guidance establishes the broad encoder workflow and channel eligibility; it does not establish a guaranteed maximum broadcast duration, minimum computer specification, or one set of OBS source labels for every version. Check your own feed rather than assuming a long loop will run unattended without interruption.

Troubleshooting

The channel cannot start a live stream

Check verification, the channel’s live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days, and the minimum age requirement. If the channel is ineligible, changing OBS settings will not resolve the YouTube restriction.

The episode plays once and stops

Open the media source or playlist settings in OBS and enable its repeat behavior. If you are using a playlist, confirm repeat is applied to the playlist and not only to an individual item.

YouTube Studio shows no preview

Confirm OBS is connected to the intended YouTube stream, that the correct stream connection details were used, and that OBS is sending its output. Check the Live Control Room for its current status messages. If you shared or exposed the stream key, reset it in YouTube Studio before using the stream again.

Check that the intended OBS scene is active, the source is visible and playing, and the audio is reaching OBS. Verify the result in Studio’s incoming preview before announcing the broadcast.

The stream stops when you leave

In a local OBS setup, playback and encoding run on the computer. It must remain on and connected, with OBS running. A cloud playout service moves playback off the home computer; compare its current service limits and price before relying on it.
