You can loop a prerecorded affirmations video in OBS and send it to YouTube Live, but OBS does not make the broadcast self-healing: your computer, internet connection, encoder and stream all need attention if you want the channel to stay live. This guide covers the setup, a connection-tested configuration, monitoring, YouTube’s archive limit and the rights issues to check before you broadcast.
Before you start: prepare the content and check YouTube Live access
Use media you are allowed to stream
Use narration, music and visuals you created or have permission to broadcast worldwide. YouTube’s live-stream terms require you to hold the rights needed to use your live content on Google services worldwide. Music rights can be separate from rights to a recording or video, so check both before including a track. Follow YouTube’s Community Guidelines and applicable laws.
Confirm your channel can go live
Your channel must be verified and must not have a live-streaming restriction in the preceding 90 days. First-time live-stream activation can take up to 24 hours, so enable it before the day you plan to launch. If the Live option is unavailable, check channel verification and restrictions, then allow time for activation.
Decide how you will handle a long broadcast
A 24/7 stream is not a set-and-forget feature of OBS. OBS sends the media from the computer running it; a power cut, computer restart, OBS failure or internet outage can interrupt the feed. Plan how you will notice a disconnect and restart or reconnect the stream.

- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Build a looping affirmations scene in OBS
Add a video that contains both picture and sound
- Open OBS and create a scene for the broadcast. Give it a name that makes its purpose clear, such as “Affirmations.”
- In the Sources box, select + and add a Media Source. Choose a descriptive source name, then select your local video file.
- Enable Loop in the Media Source properties. This restarts the file when playback reaches the end.
- Check the preview. Resize or position the video in the canvas if needed, and confirm that it fills the output as intended.
Loop a playlist of separate files
For multiple files, add a VLC Video Source and enable Loop Playlist. VLC must be installed for this source to appear in OBS. Add the files in the order you want them to play and check that the playlist advances and restarts as expected. A single, assembled video is simpler to manage; a playlist is more flexible when you need to replace or reorder individual affirmations.
Keep the audio intentional
Use the Audio Mixer to confirm the affirmation audio is active and at a useful level. OBS’s default desktop-audio and microphone devices can be checked there; select devices manually under Settings → Audio if the wrong source is selected. For a prerecorded broadcast, mute any microphone or desktop-audio source you do not intend viewers to hear. Listen to a test rather than relying only on the mixer meters.

Connect OBS to YouTube Live
- Open YouTube Studio and go to the Live Control Room. Create a stream or schedule one, following the options shown for your account.
- Copy the stream’s server URL and stream key from YouTube.
- In OBS, open Settings → Stream, choose YouTube as the service, and enter the server URL and stream key. If your OBS version offers a direct account connection, use the workflow displayed there instead.
- Keep the stream key private: treat it like a password. Anyone with access to it may be able to send a feed to your channel. If you think it has been exposed, reset it in YouTube Studio and update OBS with the new key.
- Start the stream from OBS, then check the preview and stream-health information in YouTube’s Live Control Room before making the broadcast public.
Choose encoder settings your connection can sustain
Use YouTube’s live-encoder guidance as a baseline, then test the actual output from your computer and network. YouTube recommends constant bitrate (CBR), a 2-second keyframe interval (not over 4 seconds), and AAC or MP3 audio. These recommendations do not determine a suitable video bitrate for every resolution and connection; use the current guidance shown by YouTube for your chosen output and verify the result in a test stream.

- What You Get: Anker USB-C Hub (7-in-1), welcome guide, 18-month warranty, and our friendly customer service.
- Rate control: CBR.
- Keyframe interval: 2 seconds; do not exceed 4 seconds.
- Audio codec: AAC or MP3.
- Upload connection: test your upload speed and stream quality, preferably under conditions similar to the planned broadcast.
YouTube transcodes the incoming feed for viewers using different devices and network conditions. That does not prevent problems in the feed you send: if your upload connection cannot sustain your chosen settings, the source stream can still stutter or drop. A wired connection is worth considering only if your Wi-Fi is unstable; a cable does not guarantee uptime.
Test, start and monitor the broadcast
- Run a short private or otherwise controlled test before the first public broadcast.
- In YouTube’s Live Control Room, confirm the video preview appears and the stream-health information is acceptable.
- Listen for the affirmation voice and any background music. Check for silence, unintended microphone or desktop audio, distortion and abrupt transitions at the loop point.
- Confirm the file or playlist loops correctly in OBS. A test that ends before the media file finishes will not confirm the loop restart.
- When you are satisfied, set the broadcast’s visibility and start it for viewers. Keep an eye on stream health and audio/video quality while it is live.
- For a 24/7 schedule, arrange a way to notice a dropped feed and a person or process that can restart it. The OBS and YouTube guidance described here does not promise unattended uptime.
Will YouTube save a 24/7 affirmations stream?
YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. Its cited encoder guidance does not promise automatic archiving for a longer broadcast, so do not count on one continuous 24-hour stream producing a complete replay.

If a replay matters, plan for it separately: make a local recording, consider shorter scheduled segments, and check the resulting archive after each broadcast. Verify YouTube’s current behavior before relying on a particular archiving workflow.

Rights clearance and monetization are separate questions. A track or visual may be permitted for a live broadcast under a licence but still need to meet YouTube’s policies for monetized content. YouTube applies Partner Program policies to live streams, including copyright and reused-content rules. Repeating prerecorded material does not automatically qualify a channel or stream for monetization; eligibility and policy decisions are YouTube’s.

Troubleshooting common OBS and YouTube Live problems
| Symptom | Likely cause | What to check or do |
|---|---|---|
| YouTube Live is unavailable | The channel is not verified, has a recent live-stream restriction or has not finished initial activation. | Check verification and restrictions in YouTube Studio. If live streaming was only just enabled, allow up to 24 hours for activation. |
| OBS connects, but YouTube shows no picture | The wrong scene or source is active, the media file has not started, or the stream connection settings are incorrect. | Check the OBS preview and confirm the correct scene is selected. Verify the server URL and stream key against the current stream in YouTube Studio. |
| Viewers cannot hear the affirmations | The file has no usable audio, the wrong device is selected, or the intended source is muted or too quiet. | Check the Audio Mixer while the file plays, inspect Settings → Audio, and listen to a test from the stream output. |
| Unwanted sounds appear in the stream | A microphone or desktop-audio source is capturing sound not present in the prerecorded video. | Mute or disable the unintended source and run another audio test. |
| The video plays once and stops | Loop is not enabled for the Media Source, or Loop Playlist is not enabled for the VLC source. | Open the source properties in OBS and enable the corresponding loop option. For VLC Video Source, confirm VLC is installed and the playlist contains the expected files. |
| The stream stutters or drops | The upload connection may not sustain the selected output, or the local computer or network may have become unavailable. | Test upload speed and stream quality, then adjust output settings to a level the connection can sustain. Check stream health and arrange a way to notice and recover from interruptions. |
| The replay is missing or incomplete | The broadcast lasted 12 hours or longer, outside YouTube’s stated automatic-archive coverage for streams under 12 hours. | Do not rely on a single long stream for a complete replay. Use a separate local recording or shorter segments and inspect the resulting archive. |
| The stream key may have been exposed | Someone else may be able to use the key to send a feed. | Reset the key in YouTube Studio, replace it in OBS and keep the new key private. |
