How to Make a 24/7 YouTube Live Stream From Pre-Recorded Videos

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

To run a 24/7 YouTube live stream from pre-recorded videos, create a YouTube broadcast and send it a continuous video feed from an encoder. You can loop a playlist on a computer running streaming software, or upload videos to a cloud service that keeps the feed running. Before you start, confirm your channel can livestream and that you have the rights to every part of the playlist.

What you need for a continuous stream

YouTube receives a live feed from an encoder; it does not turn a playlist of uploaded videos into a live broadcast by itself. The encoder supplies the video, while YouTube hosts the broadcast and its live chat. YouTube describes live streaming as a way to interact with viewers in real time through a video feed, chat, and more (YouTube Help).

  • A verified YouTube channel that meets YouTube’s live-streaming requirements and has had no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days.
  • Videos and audio you are permitted to stream, including permission for music, gameplay footage, and any other third-party material.
  • A continuous encoder feed, supplied either by a computer running streaming software or by a cloud streaming service.
  • A stable connection and a plan to monitor the broadcast and handle interruptions.

YouTube’s Live Streaming API documentation describes broadcasts and streams as separate resources and includes the pattern of continuing to send video during a 24/7 broadcast. For a creator, the practical distinction is simple: set up the YouTube broadcast, then keep a valid video feed going to it.

Choose where the encoder will run

Local computer and streaming software

A local setup gives you direct control of the computer and encoder, but that equipment and its connection must remain available for the stream to continue. A desktop, laptop, or other suitable computer can be used; a dedicated mini PC is optional, not a YouTube requirement. The sources cited here do not establish minimum hardware specifications for a particular encoder or playlist setup.

  • 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.

YouTube supports streaming with an encoder. Its current Studio setup flow provides the broadcast details needed to connect one. OBS maintains an official help portal, but its cited help page does not verify a specific unattended, looping 24/7 configuration. Check the software’s current documentation for playlist and restart behavior rather than assuming a particular setting or click path.

Cloud-hosted streaming

A cloud service can run the encoder workflow away from your home computer, so a local machine does not need to stay on. You still need to check the provider’s playlist controls, recovery behavior, handling of the resulting YouTube archive, service limits, and current price. Marketing claims are not an uptime guarantee, and the sources cited here do not establish comparative uptime or reliability for providers.

Set up the YouTube broadcast and send the feed

  1. Confirm live access. In YouTube Studio, follow YouTube’s current live-streaming setup and check that the channel is verified and eligible. YouTube says a channel must have no live-streaming restrictions in the prior 90 days. Review the current YouTube live-streaming requirements, since account eligibility and setup can depend on YouTube’s rules at the time you launch.
  2. Create a broadcast in YouTube Studio. Choose the encoder-based live workflow and configure the broadcast’s title, visibility, and other settings in Studio. YouTube’s interface can change, so use the current labels and prompts shown in your account.
  3. Connect the encoder. Copy the stream key and server details shown by YouTube into the encoder or hosted service’s YouTube connection settings. Treat the stream key like a password: do not share it publicly, and reset it in YouTube if it is exposed.
  4. Provide the prerecorded playlist. Configure the local software or cloud service to play the chosen video or playlist continuously. Check that the playlist order and repeat behavior are what you intend; the exact controls depend on the encoder or provider.
  5. Start sending video and verify the broadcast. Start the encoder feed, then confirm in YouTube Studio that the stream is receiving video and is live as intended. Monitor the broadcast rather than assuming a successful initial connection means it will stay live indefinitely.

Check copyright and channel policy before going live

YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. If it identifies material that remains in the stream, YouTube may interrupt or terminate the broadcast. Review the YouTube copyright guidance for live streams before scheduling a continuous playlist.

Check the rights for every video, music track, and other third-party element—not just the main footage. A license may still fail to prevent a live interruption if the rights holder has not allowlisted your channel through Content ID. If a rights holder has agreed to your use, ask whether they need to allowlist the channel and resolve that before streaming.

Copyright permission is separate from YouTube’s other channel and monetization policies. A stream can be technically live yet still raise policy issues; confirm that both the content and the way you use it comply with the rules that apply to your channel.

Plan for interruptions, archives, and ongoing operation

A 24/7 broadcast depends on the encoder continuing to send a valid feed. For a local setup, that means accounting for computer restarts, software failures, power, and internet interruptions. For a hosted setup, ask how it resumes after a dropped YouTube connection and what happens to the broadcast archive. A provider’s description alone does not establish guaranteed continuity.
