Autoplay is different: it plays another related video and does not, by itself, ensure the playlist returns to the first sermon.
Loop the playlist on a computer
- Open a sermon that is part of the YouTube playlist.
- Expand the playlist panel beside the video.
- Click Loop in the playlist box. YouTube’s playlist looping instructions describe this control as repeating the playlist continuously.
Loop the playlist on a phone or tablet
- Start playing the playlist in the YouTube app.
- Open or locate the playlist control box beneath the video.
- Tap Loop. Check the control state before leaving playback running: selecting it again can switch to repeating only the current video.
Set playlist repeat on a TV or game console
- Select and start the sermon playlist.
- Use the remote or controller to open the player controls.
- Select Repeat until the displayed state is Repeat • Playlist. A repeat setting for the current video will replay that sermon rather than returning to the first item.
Play the playlist on a church website
- In YouTube, open the playlist and choose Share > Embed, then copy the embed code into the appropriate page on your website.
- YouTube documents adding
&autoplay=1to an embedded player to request autoplay. Autoplay and playlist looping are separate: the embed documentation explains autoplay but does not establish that this parameter makes a playlist restart from its first video. - Test the full embed in the page, browser, and device the congregation will use. Let it reach the last sermon and verify that it returns to the first before relying on it for a service or display.
Check embed access
If an embedded sermon will not play, confirm that embedding is allowed and that the video is not age-restricted. YouTube says age-restricted videos cannot be watched on most third-party websites. Embedded playback also requires an HTTP Referer from its enclosing context; YouTube identifies a missing Referer as a possible cause of error 153.
Why Autoplay does not replace playlist Loop
YouTube describes Autoplay as automatically playing another related video after a video ends. That is not the same instruction as repeating the playlist. If the goal is to return to the first sermon rather than move on to a recommendation, enable the playlist’s Loop or Repeat setting. See YouTube’s Autoplay guidance.
Troubleshoot a playlist that does not restart
- A recommended video plays next: enable Loop/Repeat for the playlist; Autoplay can choose another related video.
- The same sermon starts again: change the repeat mode from the current video to the playlist. On a TV or console, look specifically for Repeat • Playlist.
- An embedded sermon will not load: check whether embedding is permitted, whether the video is age-restricted, and whether the player is being loaded in a webpage context that supplies an HTTP Referer.
- The playlist stops or behaves differently on the service device: verify the entire sequence on that exact device and page. The documented controls do not amount to a guarantee of uninterrupted playback in every configuration.
Or let it run in the cloud
If your church wants a pre-recorded sermon stream to remain live on YouTube around the clock, StreamNeo runs uploaded videos from the cloud; this is a different setup from looping a playlist in the YouTube player. Upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. Your computer and home connection do not need to stay on. StreamNeo streams the uploaded video as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one flat price per slot, and automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly: $9.99 per month. UPI and cards are accepted in India; card checkout is available worldwide. Learn more at StreamNeo, or start the free first day.
