To make a Medieval MC MMC3 server, download the matching MMC3 FORGE 1.19.2 Server Pack v19, extract it into a clean folder, run its supplied Forge launch script with 64-bit Java 17, accept the EULA, configure server.properties, and have every player install the same Medieval MC [FORGE] 1.19.2 v19 client profile. Do not mix v19 with older v9 or v18 files, and do not use Java 8.

What you need before installing MMC3
Medieval MC MMC3 is a Forge modpack for Minecraft 1.19.2. The current release identified for this guide is Medieval MC [FORGE] 1.19.2 v19, uploaded November 23, 2023. Its server download is a separate file named MMC3 FORGE 1.19.2 Server Pack v19. The server pack and the client profile are different downloads: the pack is for the machine running the world, while each player installs the client profile in their launcher.

Prepare these items before you start:
- A Windows, Linux, or macOS computer that can remain online while people play.
- Enough free disk space for the extracted server, the world, backups, logs, and future updates. The old v9 server archive was listed at 571.72 MB; v19 may differ, so check the current download size rather than relying on that historical figure.
- A 64-bit Java 17 runtime. Minecraft 1.19.2 requires at least Java 17; Java 8 produces class-version or JVM errors.
- Permission to create firewall rules and, for internet play, change the router configuration.
- A backup location outside the live server directory.
CurseForge identifies the project as a Minecraft 1.19.2 Forge pack by LunaPixelStudios. Its displayed download total is volatile, so a number shown on the project page should not be treated as a permanent specification.
Choose the exact release and Forge files
Use v19 on both sides
Download the v19 server pack and install the v19 client profile. A player using a different Minecraft version, modpack revision, or Forge build can be rejected before joining. Missing-mod messages, registry errors, and handshake failures are usually version-alignment problems rather than world corruption.

Do not automatically replace the pack’s Forge build
Forge 43.3.5 is listed for Minecraft 1.19.2 on November 2, 2023, but the important rule is to use the Forge version bundled or specified by the MMC3 v19 pack. Do not install the newest Forge release just because it has a higher number. A Forge change can alter registries, dependencies, or startup behavior. Test any deliberate upgrade on a copied server directory before using it for a shared world.
Install the server pack step by step
1. Create a clean server directory
Make a new directory dedicated to this installation, such as MMC3-1.19.2-v19-server. Do not extract over another Minecraft server. Keeping versions in separate folders prevents old mods, libraries, and configuration files from silently remaining in the installation.

2. Download and extract the matching ZIP
From the CurseForge file listing, download MMC3 FORGE 1.19.2 Server Pack v19.zip. Extract the archive directly into the new directory. Preserve the directory structure and every supplied file.
A working extraction normally includes the pack’s mods, config, and defaultconfigs directories, Forge libraries, and one or more launch files. Do not copy only the mods folder into a generic Forge server. MMC3’s configuration, dependency libraries, default world settings, and launch arguments are part of the server pack.
3. Install and verify Java 17
Install a 64-bit Java 17 runtime appropriate for your operating system. Open a new terminal or command prompt and run:

java -versionThe output must identify Java 17 and a 64-bit runtime. If it reports Java 8, an older version, or a runtime from an unexpected installation, fix the system PATH or use the launch script’s Java path explicitly. Checking from the same account that will run the server matters: a desktop terminal and a service account can resolve different Java installations.
4. Start the supplied Forge launch script
Run the launch script included in the extracted pack rather than inventing a new command. On Windows this may be a batch file; on Linux or macOS it may be a shell script. If the operating system blocks execution, grant the script execute permission or run the command shown in the pack’s instructions. Keep the terminal open during the first start so you can read dependency and EULA messages.
The official Minecraft server guidance notes that a Java runtime is required to launch server software. The launch script supplies the Forge arguments and classpath expected by this pack; removing those arguments or running a random server JAR can create a different, incomplete installation.
5. Accept the EULA, then stop cleanly
The first launch normally creates eula.txt and stops or asks you to respond. Open that file, read the agreement, and change the EULA value to:
eula=trueOnly accept it if you agree to Minecraft’s terms. Start the supplied script again. When the console has finished generating initial files, stop the server with its console stop command rather than closing the window or killing the process. A clean stop flushes world data and makes the first configuration edit safer.
6. Configure server.properties
Open server.properties after the first clean stop. Change only the settings you understand, then save the file before restarting. Typical decisions include:

- motd: the name or message displayed in the multiplayer list.
- gamemode and difficulty: the rules for a new or existing world.
- white-list: whether only approved player names may join.
- max-players: a cap for access, not a performance guarantee.
- view-distance and simulation-distance: how much terrain the server sends and simulates around players.
- server-port: the port on which the Java process listens. If you change it, use the same value in firewall, router, and client connection settings.
- server-ip: normally leave this blank unless you have a specific multi-interface binding requirement.
The exact settings available can vary with the server software. Do not paste properties from an unrelated Minecraft version without checking each key.
7. Start again and wait for readiness
Run the same Forge launch script a second time. Initial startup can take longer while mods create data. Wait for the console’s ready message before attempting to join. If the process exits, scroll to the first error rather than the final cascade of messages; the earliest exception usually identifies the missing Java version, file, or dependency.
Make the server reachable
Test on the host first
Join from Minecraft on the same computer using the local address shown by your operating system or the local connection method supported by your setup. This separates mod and server problems from router problems. If a local client cannot join, do not start port-forwarding yet; fix the installation or version match first.
Allow Java through the host firewall
When the host firewall prompts about Java, allow the server process on the network profile used by your players. If no prompt appears, create an inbound rule for the server’s configured port and the Java executable running the Forge process. A rule for a different Java installation will not necessarily apply to the runtime that launched MMC3.
Forward the port for internet players
Players outside your home network generally need a router port-forwarding rule from the public interface to the host computer’s local address. Minecraft’s official server guidance identifies firewall and port-forwarding configuration as possible requirements. Reserve the host’s local address in the router or configure a DHCP reservation so the forwarding target does not change after a reboot.
Give remote players your public address and the configured port, but do not publish that address publicly if you do not need to. Test from a network that is not your home Wi-Fi, such as a phone hotspot. A successful local test does not prove that the router or internet service permits inbound connections.

Make every client match
Each player should install the Medieval MC [FORGE] MMC3 1.19.2 v19 client profile. The following values must line up:

Do not add client-only mods to the server, remove server mods to make a launcher start, or copy a v9 configuration into v19. If you have customized a client, first reproduce the problem with an untouched v19 profile. That establishes whether the issue is the pack or a personal modification.

“Unsupported class version” or JVM errors
These errors indicate that the process is using an incompatible Java runtime. Run java -version from the server directory and inspect the launch script or service definition for a hard-coded Java path. Replace Java 8 or another unintended runtime with 64-bit Java 17, then restart from a fresh terminal.

Missing mods, registry errors, or handshake failures
- Confirm the server is the v19 server pack, not an older archive.
- Confirm the client profile is MMC3 v19 for Minecraft 1.19.2.
- Compare the Forge build on both sides with the pack’s specified build.
- Check that the server’s
mods,config, anddefaultconfigsdirectories were extracted completely. - Remove unauthorized additions and test with an unmodified profile.
The historical v9 server listing demonstrates why version mixing is unsafe: an older archive can contain a different set of files even when its name looks similar.
Connection refused
A refusal usually means that no process is listening on the address and port you entered. Check that the console is still running and has reached its ready state. Confirm the client’s port matches server.properties, and check whether the server is bound only to a local interface.
Connection timeout
A timeout commonly points to a firewall or router path. Verify the Java firewall rule, the router’s forwarding target, the selected protocol settings, and the host’s current local address. Test from outside the LAN. If local connections work but remote ones time out, the modpack is less likely to be the cause.

The server starts but performs poorly
No authoritative MMC3-specific RAM benchmark establishes a universal memory amount or player limit. Treat memory and performance as tuning variables. Change one factor at a time and record:
- number of concurrent players;
- view distance and simulation distance;
- world age and explored area;
- Java and Forge startup messages;
- server tick or lag symptoms in the console and logs.
Do not promise a fixed player count from a generic RAM figure. A heavily explored world, many entities, and high simulation distance can cost more than a small new world with the same number of players.
Backups, updates, and safe maintenance
Back up before every change
Stop the server, copy the complete directory, and label the backup with the pack version and date. Keep at least one copy on another disk or machine. A world backup without its matching mod configuration may not restore correctly, so preserve the pack files and configuration together.
Upgrade in a separate copy
When a newer MMC3 release becomes available, duplicate the current installation first. Install the new server pack into its own directory, then test a copy of the world. Never merge two pack versions by dragging only selected mods or libraries between folders. Keep the original server available until clients have upgraded and the new copy has been tested.
Read logs after every failed start
Use the first meaningful error in the console or log file as your starting point. Later “server stopped” or dependency messages can be consequences. Record the exact pack version, Forge build, Java version, and the file you changed before asking for help; those details make a reproducible diagnosis possible.

Self-hosting gives you direct access to world files, scripts, backups, and configuration, but you are responsible for Java, firewall rules, router forwarding, uptime, and recovery. Some managed providers advertise one-click or installer-based MMC3 deployment, including workflows from mTxServ and Apex Hosting. Availability of the exact 1.19.2 v19 image, current pricing, support scope, and terms can change, so verify those details in the provider’s current panel before paying.

Choose self-hosting when you want maximum control and are comfortable administering Java and networking. Choose managed hosting when avoiding router configuration and maintaining an always-online machine is more important than direct infrastructure control. In either case, confirm that the service provides the exact MMC3 1.19.2 v19 image rather than a similarly named or newer pack.
