Short answer: MediaLive and MediaPackage can form part of a live delivery workflow, but the AWS documentation cited here does not establish how to make MediaLive repeat a finite video file indefinitely, nor does it document MediaPackage as a relay to YouTube. So there is no verified, end-to-end “loop this file to YouTube” recipe using those services alone. You can use AWS for the live ingest and packaging stages once you have a continuous source and a separately validated way to send an encoder feed to YouTube. If your goal is simply to keep uploaded videos playing on YouTube, StreamNeo is a cloud alternative: upload a video or playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live.
What each service does—and what it does not establish
Think of this as a multi-service live workflow, not a MediaPackage-to-YouTube forwarding recipe:
- AWS Elemental MediaLive ingests an upstream video and audio source, transcodes it, and creates output groups for downstream systems.
- AWS Elemental MediaPackage is a downstream origin and packager. AWS describes the MediaLive output-group delivery to MediaPackage as a live stream, not VOD.
- YouTube Live expects an encoder feed configured with YouTube’s stream URL and stream key.
The cited AWS pages do not document a native MediaLive action that repeats a finite file forever, and they do not show MediaPackage relaying a stream to YouTube. MediaPackage therefore cannot be treated as the missing loop function or as the YouTube bridge. You need to choose and validate both a continuous-source design and a compatible way to send an encoder feed to YouTube before building the production workflow.
Plan the source before configuring AWS
Decide how the video will repeat
MediaLive’s documented model begins with an upstream system providing video and audio; AWS examples include a streaming camera or an event encoder. Its schedule can perform actions such as switching inputs and inserting image overlays, but the cited workflow page does not say that a finite video file can be configured as an endlessly repeating native action. The file playback and restart behavior must therefore be designed and confirmed in the upstream source system, not assumed to be handled by MediaPackage.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Before committing to that design, establish how it behaves at the end of a pass: whether audio and video restart cleanly, whether there is a gap, how the source recovers after a failure, and whether a separate playback or encoding service is needed. The available service descriptions do not settle those implementation details, so do not deploy on the assumption that the file will loop without interruption.
Choose a single or redundant MediaLive channel
A standard two-pipeline MediaLive channel can map pipeline 0 to the first MediaPackage ingest endpoint and pipeline 1 to the second. AWS says a standard MediaLive channel needs only one MediaPackage channel for this arrangement. The upstream source and downstream setup must also support the intended pipeline design; adding a second pipeline is not, by itself, proof that the complete loop source or YouTube delivery path is redundant.

Configure MediaLive delivery to MediaPackage
Prefer the documented MediaPackage v2 path for a new workflow
AWS recommends MediaPackage v2 with CMAF Ingest for new MediaLive-to-MediaPackage workflows. In the MediaLive console, select the MediaPackage output group for MediaPackage v2, then configure the region and the MediaPackage channel group, channel, and ingest endpoint. The managed output group handles destination connectivity.
The older MediaPackage v1 route uses HLS ingest and a channel ID. MediaPackage v2 also supports HLS/CMAF output-group variants for compatibility, but AWS notes those generic paths do not provide the managed integration and may require migration for features that depend on it. For the recommended managed v2 output group, use the channel-group, channel, and endpoint configuration presented by the console rather than copying a generic v1 HLS example.

Understand what the output gives you
In the documented MediaPackage v2 arrangement, MediaLive sends its live output to MediaPackage ingest. The result is a live stream, not a VOD asset. That describes the AWS delivery stage; it does not explain how to replay a finite source indefinitely or how to forward the resulting output to YouTube.
Plan YouTube as a separate encoder destination
In YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room, create or select a stream and obtain its server URL and stream key. Enter those values in the encoder that will send the feed to YouTube. YouTube describes the stream key as the encoder’s destination information and as credential-like, so keep it private: do not expose it in screenshots, public configuration examples, or logs.

AWS lists RTMP/RTMPS as protocols for output to an RTMP server, while YouTube documents connecting an encoder to YouTube. The cited documentation does not validate a complete MediaPackage-to-YouTube bridging workflow or specify the AWS console fields for one. Before configuring an actual bridge, verify that the selected AWS output or encoder arrangement currently supports the required YouTube destination. Do not enter YouTube’s key into a MediaPackage field on the assumption that MediaPackage is the relay.
Match the encoder settings to YouTube’s ingest guidance
YouTube recommends RTMPS when it is supported for an RTMP encoder workflow. Its current encoder-settings guidance lists H.264, H.265/HEVC, and AV1 for RTMP/RTMPS video, AAC or MP3 audio, CBR bitrate encoding, and frame rates up to 60 fps. MediaLive’s RTMP/RTMPS output table lists H.264 video and AAC audio, so choose settings supported by both ends of the actual path rather than assuming every YouTube-listed codec is available in a particular MediaLive output group.

| Target format | YouTube recommended video bitrate | How to use the figure |
|---|---|---|
| 1080p at 30 fps, H.264 | 14 Mbps | YouTube’s recommended ingest setting for this format, not a universal bitrate or a guarantee of viewer quality. |
| 1080p at 60 fps, H.264 | 17 Mbps | YouTube’s recommended ingest setting for this format, not a universal bitrate or a guarantee of viewer quality. |
Use YouTube’s current encoder settings table to select the row for your chosen codec, resolution, and frame rate. YouTube recommends a two-second keyframe interval and says not to exceed four seconds. Do not copy either example bitrate to a different output format without checking its applicable row.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Test the complete path before leaving it live
- Test the source repeat behavior. Run the selected playback/source design through a file ending and restart. Check continuity of picture and sound, plus the behavior after a source interruption.
- Check the AWS stages separately. Confirm MediaLive receives the intended audio/video input and produces the configured output group, then confirm MediaPackage receives the live delivery. This validates those stages; it does not prove that the stream is reaching YouTube.
- Connect the YouTube encoder feed. Use the selected encoder arrangement with the YouTube server URL and private stream key. Confirm the feed appears in YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room preview.
- Review stream health and the watch page. YouTube recommends checking stream-health messages, reviewing picture and sound during broadcast, and verifying that the intended watch page is accessible.
- Keep archive duration in mind. YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. Do not assume a longer broadcast will be preserved as one unbroken archive.
Common problems and what to check
| Symptom | Likely point to investigate | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| The video plays once and stops | The upstream source is not repeating the finite asset; the documented MediaPackage output is live, not VOD. | Validate the repeat/restart mechanism in the source system. Do not look for a MediaPackage VOD-loop setting in this workflow. |
| MediaPackage receives output, but YouTube does not | The AWS-to-MediaPackage stage and YouTube ingest are distinct. The cited docs do not establish a MediaPackage-to-YouTube relay. | Verify the separate encoder/output path to YouTube and the Live Control Room stream URL and key. |
| YouTube reports poor stream health | Codec, CBR mode, keyframe interval, resolution, frame rate, or bitrate may not match the chosen ingest format. | Compare the actual encoder output with YouTube’s settings row for that exact codec and format; use its two-second keyframe recommendation and do not exceed four seconds. |
| YouTube does not accept the feed | The destination URL or stream key may be wrong, or the encoder may not be sending a compatible feed. | Recheck the stream selected in Live Control Room, the URL and key configured in the encoder, and the supported codec/protocol on the actual output path. Keep the key private. |
| The picture or sound breaks at the loop boundary | End-of-file restart behavior belongs to the upstream source design and is not specified by the cited AWS workflow pages. | Test the source repeatedly before production and confirm how it handles audio/video continuity and restart gaps. |

An AWS build involves multiple services and a separately validated source-repeat and YouTube-delivery design. This article cannot give a trustworthy AWS total without the chosen source, service configuration, region, usage, and operating pattern. Estimate the complete architecture—including the system that repeats the finite asset—before comparing it with a managed cloud looping service.
For StreamNeo, every slot includes one always-on YouTube stream, up to 4K 60fps as uploaded, 10 GB storage per slot pooled across active slots, looping and playlists, automatic recovery if YouTube drops, and support from the StreamNeo team.
