Remove voice packs you do not use first. On mobile, you can also check whether your version offers a control for uninstalling resources from completed quests. These options can free storage without manually deleting game files, but their availability and labels vary by platform and version.
Remove voice packs you do not use
Genshin Impact lets players install or remove in-game voice packs, including English, Japanese, Chinese, and Korean. Open the game’s voice or language resource-management screen and remove the packs you do not use. HoYoverse’s published path is Phone Settings > Language > Settings > Voice > Voice Pack Resource Management; your version or device may label or arrange these controls differently. HoYoverse notes that selected voice packs may download automatically for new content, and recommends Wi-Fi for large downloads. If a pack returns after an update, check the same resource-management screen. Removing a voice pack is a storage change, not a reason to delete files directly from the game’s folders.
Check for completed-quest resource cleanup on mobile
A community guide posted November 15, 2024 describes a mobile option at Settings > Resources > Past Quest Resource Management for uninstalling resources associated with completed quests. Look for that option in your own game; it may not appear in every version or on every platform. The guide is community-authored, and HoYoverse’s official guidance cited here does not confirm that this control is available on PC or consoles. Read the HoYoLAB guide.

Use only resource-management controls shown in your game. The available information does not establish a fixed amount of storage this cleanup will free. It concerns local resources; do not treat it as a way to delete account progress.
Check how much free space your platform requires
HoYoverse’s system-requirements page, dated November 11, 2025, gives these available-storage figures. They are requirements for available space, not a promise that the installed game will occupy exactly that amount on every device or version.

HoYoverse warns that storage requirements may increase with future updates. Check its current system requirements rather than relying on an old install-size estimate.
If an update still fails for lack of space
HoYoverse recommends ensuring there is sufficient free space, using the official launcher or platform updater, and verifying game files or reinstalling as troubleshooting steps. Its guidance does not specify a universal amount of temporary space required for an update, so leave room for the update process rather than relying on a fixed multiplier. - Free space safely: remove unused voice packs and, on mobile, check for the completed-quest resource option.
- Update through the official route: use the official launcher or your platform’s updater.
- If it still fails: follow HoYoverse’s file-verification or reinstall guidance for your platform.
When storage expansion makes sense
If cleanup is not enough, compatible storage expansion can add capacity on devices and platforms that support it. HoYoverse recommends an SSD for smoother PC gameplay, but adding an SSD does not reduce or compress Genshin Impact’s files. Check your device or console’s storage compatibility before buying or moving an installation.
