In the Ice and Fire Minecraft mod, Dragonsteel is made in a Dragonforge—not a regular furnace. Build a forge with parts matching the Dragonsteel element you want, then check your modpack’s recipe: the cited base-mod item pages show an iron ingot as the input, while an optional datapack changes that progression to use a netherite ingot.
What you need to make Dragonsteel
- A Dragonforge, assembled with parts matching the desired element: fire for Fire Dragonsteel or ice for Ice Dragonsteel.
- The input item specified by your installed version or modpack. The Ice and Fire item pages show iron ingots; a separate datapack describes a netherite-ingot alternative.
- The matching dragon blood or fuel described in the community Dragonforge guide.
Recipe details can vary with mod versions and addons, so inspect the recipe viewer or documentation for your exact pack before collecting materials. The available sources do not establish a universal compatibility list.
How to make Ice and Fire Dragonsteel
- Confirm the recipe. Open your modpack’s recipe viewer and look up Ice Dragonsteel Ingot or Fire Dragonsteel Ingot. Verify the input and output shown for your installed version.
- Build the matching Dragonforge. Use ice parts for Ice Dragonsteel or fire parts for Fire Dragonsteel. The community guide describes the forge as a multiblock with element-specific bricks, a core, and apertures; it also says the core must be reachable. Follow the guide for its described construction, but verify in-game if your version behaves differently. Dragonforge construction and fueling guide.
- Fuel the forge and load the input. The community guide describes using the associated dragon blood or fuel and placing the recipe input in the forge inventory. Match its instructions to the recipe and mechanics in your modpack.
- Wait for the forge to process the recipe. The guide describes apertures as a way to increase throughput. It also describes block output for a completed recipe, but output form and yield can differ across versions; check the in-game recipe rather than assuming a particular result.
Ice Dragonsteel and Fire Dragonsteel are separate
The item pages list Ice Dragonsteel Ingot and Fire Dragonsteel Ingot as distinct outputs, each used to craft its corresponding equipment. Choose the matching forge element and recipe for the ingot you want: an ice setup does not stand in for a fire setup, or vice versa.
Why your recipe may not match a guide
Some packs add or change recipes. For example, the Ice And Fire Smithing datapack listing describes a progression that can use a netherite ingot instead of an iron ingot. That is an alternate datapack recipe, not a universal replacement for the base-mod recipe. Use the recipe viewer or documentation for the modpack and version you are actually playing.
