In Forza Horizon 5, “money” means credits (CR). For a reliable start, race for credits, claim Wheelspins as you earn them, check Car Mastery for credit perks, and consider auctioning cars you do not need. Spins are random, auctions depend on other players, and seasonal rewards change, so no single method is guaranteed to pay best.
Earn credits by racing
Races are the most straightforward place to begin: they advance your game while paying credits. A 2021 GameSpot guide says finishing higher pays more and that increasing difficulty can raise rewards and XP, but it also makes winning harder. Those recommendations are not a current payout table, so choose events you can complete consistently rather than assuming one race is the most profitable.

As you get comfortable, try a higher difficulty if you can still finish well. The trade-off is practical: a bigger potential reward is of little use if the added challenge causes you to place lower or lose.

Claim Wheelspins, but treat them as a bonus
Wheelspins are randomized rewards that may include credits or cars. Claim them when they become available, but do not plan a budget around a particular payout. GameSpot’s 2021 guide describes spins as rewards earned through progression; the current cadence and reward table are not established here.
Look for credit rewards in Car Mastery
Car Mastery trees can include perks that award credits. Open the mastery tree for the car you are using and look for credit rewards before spending Skill Points. There is no universally best tree or credit amount established: compare the cost with other perks you would rather unlock, and use the option that fits your priorities.

Auction cars you are willing to part with
The Auction House can turn an unwanted or duplicate car into credits if another player bids. It is not a guaranteed sale or fixed-price income stream: demand and bids come from players, and an unsold listing earns nothing. Keep cars you value or need, and treat an auction as an uncertain way to convert extras into CR.
Forza’s Series 9 update notes added a filter for duplicate cars, making it easier to identify extras for auction or removal. The notes document the filter, not a guaranteed sale or market price.

Check current seasonal activities and rewards
Festival Playlist and update activities can offer rewards beyond ordinary race payouts, but their rewards vary by series and update. For example, Forza’s Series 6 update announced Super Wheelspins for completing Seasonal PR Stunts. That is a historical example, not a claim that the same activities currently offer that reward. Check the reward tiles in your game before choosing what to play.
In its 2025 Horizon Realms announcement, Forza said new players must unlock the Festival Playlist to access Realms, and described new reward cars and Accolades for that update. Should you buy VIP for credits?
A 2021 Forza preview described VIP as granting “2x credit race rewards” and weekly bonus Super Wheelspins. That wording records the benefits described in that preview; it does not establish current price or availability, and VIP is not required to earn credits. Consider paid features only after checking the current offer and deciding whether its full benefits are worth the cost to you. Forza’s preview lists the historical benefit description.

For a new player, a sensible routine is to play races you can finish well, claim available spins, check the mastery tree before using Skill Points, and review current Playlist rewards. Auction only cars you are comfortable losing, and do not count an auction sale or a randomized spin as guaranteed income.
