Use Pokémon HOME as your inventory for event Pokémon, then keep them in clearly labeled boxes and record where and when you claimed them. Claim Mystery Gifts promptly, check a Pokémon’s compatibility before moving it to another game, and save after an in-game gift claim.
Use Pokémon HOME as your event Pokémon inventory
Pokémon HOME has a Nintendo Switch version and a mobile app. Pokémon describes it as a service for storing Pokémon and moving them among compatible games; a Pokémon stored in HOME is not automatically transferable to every game. Check the Pokémon HOME service information and the current compatibility information before planning a transfer.

Set up boxes so event Pokémon are easy to find
Separate event Pokémon from routine catches. Label boxes by event, original game, or year—whichever makes the collection easiest for you to search. For example, a label might include the event name and game. This is a suggested organization method, not a claim that HOME has a special event-labeling feature.
Keep a companion note for details you may want later: the distribution name, the original game or save, the date claimed, and any visible event details. Recording this information while it is easy to check can help distinguish similar gifts. Pokémon’s official instructions do not prescribe a particular provenance format.

Claim HOME Mystery Gifts before they disappear
To receive a Mystery Gift in Pokémon HOME, use the mobile app’s Gift Box and claim the Pokémon into HOME Boxes, or use the displayed code in a compatible game. Pokémon Support says gifts in the Gift Box are available only for a period of time, but does not give an exact expiry duration. Claim them promptly rather than relying on an assumed deadline. For gifts claimed in a game, follow that game’s instructions
In-game promotion procedures and the Pokémon’s destination can vary, so follow the instructions for the specific game and event. In Pokémon Support’s Sword and Shield example, the received Pokémon appears in the party or Pokémon Boxes, and the instructions remind players to save the game after receiving it. That example is specific to those games; it is not a universal procedure. Check Pokémon Support’s promotion instructions for the relevant details.

A practical collection routine
- Claim the gift: For a HOME Mystery Gift, use the mobile app’s Gift Box; for an in-game distribution, follow that game and event’s instructions.
- Record its origin: Add the event name, original game or save, and claim date to your companion note.
- File it: Move or keep the Pokémon in a box labeled by event, game, or year, according to your own system.
- Save when instructed: In the cited Sword and Shield promotion procedure, save after receiving the Pokémon; follow the instructions for other games.
- Check before transferring: Confirm the individual Pokémon can move to your intended destination game using HOME’s current compatibility information.
- Review capacity: If you are running out of room, compare your needs with the current Basic and Premium features before changing plans.
