Manage PS5 notifications in Settings > Notifications. There you can control pop-ups, previews, sound, haptics, how long alerts stay on screen, and whether particular alerts appear during games, videos, or broadcasts. To mute everything temporarily, press the PS button, open Notifications in the Control Center, and turn on Do Not Disturb.
Change PS5 notification settings
From the PS5 home screen, open Settings > Notifications. This menu controls the console’s on-screen alerts and their presentation. Sony’s PS5 notification guide lists these settings.
- Allow Pop-Up Notifications: Turn console pop-ups on or off.
- Show Preview: Choose whether notifications include a preview.
- Play Sound: Turn notification sounds on or off.
- Haptic Feedback: Choose whether notifications provide vibration feedback. A vibration intensity level must be selected for notification vibration to work.
- Display Time: Set how long a pop-up remains visible.
Stop selected pop-ups during games, videos, or broadcasts
To keep some alerts but suppress others during a particular activity, open Settings > Notifications > Manage pop-ups. Choose a notification category and set whether its pop-ups should be turned off during games, videos, broadcasts, or a combination of those activities. This is more selective than muting all notifications.
Available categories include friends coming online, game invitations, trophies, tournaments, challenges, friend requests, messages and reactions, parties, song changes, downloads and copies, uploads, power saver support, controller profiles, nearby PS Link devices, wishlist updates, PlayStation news, feedback opportunities, subscription updates, and Game Help. Some categories appear only if an eligible device is assigned to your account.

Temporarily mute all PS5 notifications
- Press the PS button to open the Control Center.
- Select Notifications.
- Turn on Do Not Disturb.
With Do Not Disturb on, notification pop-ups remain hidden until you turn it off, log out, or restart the console. Use this for a temporary quiet period; use Manage pop-ups if you want to keep selected alerts visible in some situations.
Check or delete notifications
The PS5 notification list is an inbox as well as a quick-access setting. Press the PS button and select Notifications. The newest items appear at the top; select a notification to open it.

- Delete one: Highlight the notification and press Square.
- Clear the list: Press Options, then select Delete All Notifications.
Manage PlayStation App push notifications
Phone alerts are separate from PS5 console pop-ups. In the PlayStation App, open the app’s settings to adjust push notifications for gaming, social, media, and account activity. If you disable push notifications, you can still view notifications in the app from the Play screen.
To mute alerts for one party, open the party name, select More, then choose Turn Off Notifications. Sony’s PlayStation App notification guide covers these controls.

If Notifications is hard to find in the Control Center
The PS button opens the Control Center, whose icons can be rearranged or hidden. Highlight an icon, press Options, then move or hide controls. Sony notes that some icons cannot be hidden. Its PS5 accessibility settings guide also explains haptic options and compatible controllers for console-navigation haptics.
Haptics are optional: you can manage and silence pop-ups without them. Notification haptics require a vibration intensity setting. Console-navigation haptics are supported on DualSense, DualSense Edge, and PS VR2 Sense controllers. The Controller Profiles notification category is shown only for users assigned a DualSense Edge (CFI-ZCP series) or Access controller (CFI-ZAC series).
