Creations are managed from inside the game on PlayStation 5. Bethesda also supports browsing Skyrim Creations on its website, but the in-game menu is where you download content, inspect your Library, disable or delete installed items, and review the Load Order. You need the Bethesda.net account associated with the game when the menu asks you to sign in.

That account connection matters throughout the process. A website listing or a subscription is useful only when the console is linked to the same Bethesda.net account you use in Skyrim. If a family member has signed into a different account, the expected Library or subscribed item may not appear even though the Creation still exists online. Check the account before treating missing content as a download failure.
How to install a Skyrim Creation on PS5
- Launch Skyrim Special Edition and select Play from the title screen.
- Choose Creations.
- Sign in to Bethesda.net if Skyrim requests it. Use the account linked to the console and the game.
- Browse or search for a Creation, open its listing, and select Download.
- After downloading, open Load Order if you need to inspect where the new file is placed or to check for a warning.
The Creation should then be available through the game’s installed content and load-order tools. Keep the title and description visible while choosing an item so you do not accidentally download a similarly named file.

Installing several items without creating a difficult diagnosis
There is no Bethesda guarantee that a particular number of downloads is safe in every situation. Bethesda’s PS5 startup guidance specifically warns that downloading more than 10 new Creations at once is at risk. Treat that as a troubleshooting warning, not as a formal storage limit and not as an assurance that 10 or fewer items will always work. If stability matters, install a small group, start the game, and verify it before adding another group. This makes it easier to identify the item responsible for a problem.
A staged approach also preserves useful evidence. Note which group you installed before a crash, then test the same save or location after each change. Do not conclude that the last item is automatically defective: disabling one Creation only identifies a practical suspect in that particular setup. Another Creation, an outdated file, or a duplicate filename may be involved.
Library actions: disable or delete?
Open Creations, choose Library, select the installed item, and choose the action you need. Bethesda describes disabling as reversible: the Creation remains available so you can enable it again. Deleting removes the installed content. For a crash, visual fault, or unexplained change, disabling is the safer first test because it preserves the download.

Bethesda warns that playing with Creations can cause issues and says they can be disabled from the Load Order as well. If the Library command will not save, first check the load-order and filename problems described below rather than repeatedly selecting the same command.

How to read and troubleshoot the Load Order
Select Load Order from the Creations menu to review the installed files. Bethesda’s current description groups files by type in this order:

This is a description of the file-type rules, not a universal recipe for every combination of Creations. Bethesda does not provide one ordering formula that resolves all possible interactions, so do not move files in ways the menu prevents or assume that copying a PC load-order guide will produce the same result on PS5.
Use the menu’s permitted arrangement as the boundary of what you can change. ESM and ESL files remain in the top group, although they may be rearranged among themselves; ESP files follow that group. If a guide tells you to place a file somewhere the PS5 menu will not permit, the guide is describing a different environment or an unsupported arrangement. The relevant checks here are file type, unique filenames, and update status—not a made-up universal priority list.

When the game will not save a load order
Bethesda identifies two causes to check first:
- Duplicate filenames: Two installed Creations with duplicate file names can prevent saving changes to the load order and can also interfere with deleting or enabling items.
- Outdated Creations: Bethesda advises making sure installed Creations are up to date. An update to Skyrim can also leave a Creation incompatible until its creator updates it.
Review the Library and Load Order for duplicates or items that have an available update. If you suspect one item, disable it, restart the game, and try the operation again. Delete only when you intend to remove it or when a fresh download is part of the recovery plan.
Do not keep changing several entries at once while diagnosing a save failure. Check one duplicate or outdated item, apply the reversible change, and retry. If the menu still cannot save, continue through the same process rather than forcing an order the interface rejects. Bethesda’s guidance does not define a complete conflict-resolution recipe for every Creation combination.
If the Creations menu is missing
Bethesda’s December 2023 change is the first thing to account for: the separate Mods and Creation Club entries were combined into Creations. If you are following an older guide, look for that unified label rather than a menu literally named Mods.
If Creations is absent or will not open, check that the PlayStation is signed in to and linked with the Bethesda.net account used by Skyrim. A recent game update can also leave previously installed Creations incompatible until their creators release updates. After confirming the account and game software, reopen Skyrim and check the menu again.
Seeing a changed label is therefore not evidence that mod support was removed. The unified menu is the current location for both the older Mods and Creation Club functions. Account linkage and software version are the first checks; only then should you investigate a particular Creation.
If downloaded or subscribed content is not appearing
Work through these checks in order:
- Confirm that the Creation is still available on Bethesda.net. Content that has been removed there cannot be restored merely by searching the local Library.
- Verify that the console is linked to the same Bethesda.net account used in Skyrim. A different account can make a subscription or Library appear empty.
- Close and restart Skyrim, then return to Creations and Library.
- If the item remains missing, remove the Creation and download it again, following Bethesda’s support advice.
Re-downloading is not a substitute for checking availability or account linkage. If the creator has withdrawn the item, or if the console is connected to another account, repeating the download attempt will not fix the underlying cause.
An update can create a third explanation: the Creation may still be listed but temporarily incompatible until its creator updates it. In that case, removing and downloading it again may not help immediately. Check the item’s availability and current status, keep the account consistent, and avoid deleting a working save while you wait for compatibility to be restored.
What to do when Skyrim crashes after enabling a Creation
Use a reversible change first and escalate only if the problem remains:

- Launch the game and test the save or location that previously failed.
- If the problem continues and you have identified the item as unwanted, delete it from the Library.
- Power-cycle the PS5: shut the console down fully, wait briefly, and start it again before retesting Skyrim.
- If the issue persists, use the reinstall procedure below.
Disabling is a diagnostic step, not proof that the Creation is defective. A failure that disappears after disabling one item gives you a practical suspect; it does not establish that every save or every combination will fail in the same way.
Keep the escalation in order. Restarting costs nothing and confirms whether the failure was temporary. Disabling preserves the item for a controlled comparison. Deleting is appropriate once removal is intended, while a power cycle addresses a console restart state rather than changing the Creation itself. Reinstall only after these less destructive steps have been tried or when the startup guidance specifically points to it.
PS5 stuck on startup after activating many Creations
Bethesda has a separate console-startup warning for this situation. If Skyrim on PS5 remains stuck loading after you activated many Creations, Bethesda advises uninstalling and reinstalling the game. The same guidance warns that downloading more than 10 new Creations at once is at risk. Again, this is Bethesda’s support warning, not a measured PS5 limit and not a promise that ten or fewer downloads are safe.

Before reinstalling, make sure you know which saved data you intend to keep. Bethesda’s general PlayStation troubleshooting says the reinstall removes the game installation, not save files, and describes backing up saves through PlayStation saved-data settings. If you are concerned about a particular character, confirm that the correct save is backed up before deleting the game installation.
After the clean installation starts, test Skyrim before restoring a large group of Creations. Add items in manageable groups and keep track of what was added. That approach does not guarantee stability, but it preserves a clear path back to the last known-working setup if startup trouble returns.
Reinstalling Skyrim without losing track of saves
- Close Skyrim and disable or delete any Creation you can reach from the menu.
- Back up the saves you care about through the PS5’s saved-data settings. Check the character and save date rather than assuming the most recent file is the one you need.
- Uninstall Skyrim from the console.
- Restart or power-cycle the PS5 if Bethesda’s troubleshooting sequence calls for it, then reinstall Skyrim Special Edition.
- Launch the clean installation and test it before downloading Creations again.
- Add content gradually. If a particular Creation brings the problem back, disable it and keep the rest of the installation unchanged while you investigate.
Bethesda’s support sequence is intentionally progressive: restart, disable, delete if needed, power-cycle, then reinstall. Jumping directly to a reinstall can remove a useful clue about which Creation caused the failure, while refusing to reinstall can leave a startup problem unresolved.
The reinstall step concerns the game installation. Still, confirm your own backup before proceeding, especially if you use several characters or have saves with similar dates. Once Skyrim is running again, do not immediately recreate the entire previous setup; verify the base game first, then restore Creations in small, identifiable groups.
Returning to a save after removing Creations
When you return to a game without its previously active Creations, Bethesda’s guidance describes choosing your original save through Select Character in the Load menu. Use that route when the game presents multiple save or character choices after content has been disabled. Keep a backup of important saves before experimenting with a heavily modified setup.
A save made with Creations can depend on those files. Removing content may therefore change what loads, even when the base game itself starts normally. If a save behaves differently after a Creation is disabled, do not keep overwriting your only copy while testing; use a backed-up save and make one change at a time.
This is another reason to disable before delete when possible. A disabled item can be re-enabled for comparison, whereas a deleted item must be downloaded again if it remains available. If the Creation has been removed from Bethesda.net, a fresh download may not be possible, so protect the original save before experimenting.

Use the least destructive action that answers the question in front of you. Missing menu: check the unified name and account. Missing item: check availability and linkage. A crash: disable first. An unsaved order: inspect duplicate names and updates. A persistent startup hang: follow the restart-to-reinstall sequence and preserve saves before the final step.
Limits of the documented PS5 workflow
Bethesda’s support material establishes the menu paths, file-type grouping, account checks, and recovery sequence above. It does not establish a current PS5 Creation-storage capacity or a complete list of platform-specific content restrictions. Avoid applying PC or Xbox limits to a PS5 installation unless Bethesda publishes a separate PS5 specification.
The safest operating pattern is therefore procedural rather than numerical: keep the account link correct, install in manageable groups, use Disable before Delete, inspect duplicates and updates when the Load Order will not save, and preserve important saves before a reinstall.
