For a continuous-sounding lofi radio stream, overlap each track’s ending and beginning, shape the overlap with a crossfade, and audition every transition for dips, clashes, clicks, and level spikes. In Audacity, select the same time range on both tracks and apply Crossfade Tracks. There is no universally correct crossfade length or loudness target for lofi: choose by listening to the actual music, then check that the finished mix does not clip.
Confirm music rights before you build the mix
Check that permission for every track covers YouTube livestreaming and, if relevant, monetization and an archived recording. YouTube says it knows music in its Audio Library to be copyright-safe on YouTube. If an Audio Library track has a Creative Commons license, include the attribution text YouTube supplies. YouTube does not make the same assurance about music from other libraries; check each library’s terms and the track’s license.
A Content ID claim can block, monetize, or track a video, and the action can vary by geography. A track being available in a music library—or having been used elsewhere—does not by itself establish that your particular stream is cleared. See YouTube’s Content ID guidance.
Prepare the tracks and make a first pass
- Import the tracks into a multitrack project. Put them in the intended play order and make their waveforms visible. Leave enough room at each join to overlap the outgoing track’s end with the incoming track’s start.
- Listen to the transition points before setting a fade. Note where the outgoing phrase settles and where the incoming track can enter naturally. Compare rhythmic and harmonic elements: a technically smooth fade can still sound musically awkward if strong beats, bass lines, or chords fight each other.
- Set an overlap and audition it. In Audacity, select the same time range on both tracks and apply Crossfade Tracks. The selection length controls the fade duration. Audacity offers constant-gain and constant-power curves, among others; there is no documented lofi-specific duration that works for every pair of tracks.
Choose the crossfade curve by listening
Audacity describes constant gain as useful for correlated material, while constant-power shapes are intended for unrelated material that might otherwise sound as though it dips through the overlap. These are starting points, not rules for a genre: judge the transition using the tracks you are mixing.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
- Listen for a dip. If the middle of the overlap seems quieter than either track on its own, audition a constant-power option.
- Listen for a bump. If the overlap sounds louder or denser, try another curve, a different overlap length, or a different entry point.
- Check musical fit. If the beats or harmony clash, shifting the incoming track’s start or choosing a different transition point may help more than changing the curve.
Audacity’s manuals explain the curve behavior and mixing mechanics, but do not specify one best setting or a universal lofi crossfade duration. Make the choice by auditioning the actual overlap. See Crossfade Tracks and Mixing.
Match perceived levels and prevent clipping
Tracks mastered at different levels can make a continuous stream feel uneven. Use Audacity’s loudness normalization to set selected audio to a chosen perceived-loudness value in LUFS, or adjust levels by ear, then listen across every join. When waveforms overlap, their sum can raise peaks and perceived level, so check the combined passage rather than only the tracks in isolation.

Audacity identifies −23 LUFS as the EBU R 128 target and a reasonable broadcast default for spoken word. That is not a stated requirement or universal target for a YouTube lofi music stream. Do not use it as a substitute for listening and checking the mix. The Audacity loudness-normalization manual explains the setting.
Keep streamed audio below 0 dBFS to avoid clipping distortion. Monitor the signal in OBS as it reaches the mixer, and audition the final transitions there as well as in the editing project. OBS documents its audio mixer technical details and audio mixer guide.

Remove clicks and verify the complete sequence
An abrupt waveform step at a cut can create a click. Audacity describes short fades at cut points as a way to remove clicks caused by abrupt edits. Use a fade where a cut needs one, then replay the join; a crossfade is appropriate when the tracks should overlap, while a short fade can smooth a cut that should not.
Before using the sequence as a continuous radio mix, play through every transition—not just the first one—and check for clicks, silence, abrupt changes in level, masking, rhythmic or harmonic clashes, and peaks during overlaps. Audacity’s guidance on fading covers fades at edit points.
