To watch a vMix playlist stream from a second PC on the same local network, enable LiveLAN in vMix’s Stream Settings, start it, then open its LiveLAN page in a browser on the other PC. For YouTube’s view of the stream’s health and errors, check the Live Control Room separately: LiveLAN shows the vMix output, while YouTube reports what it receives.
Watch the vMix output on another PC with LiveLAN
- Check the playlist in vMix. Confirm the List input is playing and included in the program output. The List input supports video and audio files, with controls for auto-next, loop, shuffle, selecting or disabling items, and exporting the list as an M3U file. vMix List documentation.
- Start LiveLAN. In vMix, open Stream Settings, select LiveLAN as the destination, choose a suitable quality or bitrate, and start the stream. Use View Stream in the settings to see the address. vMix documents a URL pattern of
http://x.x.x.x:8088/livelan; the address is the one for the vMix computer. vMix Stream Settings documentation. - Open the page from the second PC. Connect both computers to the same reachable local network, then open the displayed LiveLAN address in a supported browser on the second PC. If the page will not load, verify the IP address and local network reachability, then check relevant firewall rules.
LiveLAN is intended for local-network viewing. It uses HLS internally, so it is useful for checking what the program output looks and sounds like, but it is not frame-accurate confidence monitoring. vMix says browser delay of around 10 seconds is typical. vMix LiveLAN documentation.
Check YouTube’s view of the stream separately
Open YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room and check the incoming stream preview, health or status indicators, and any displayed errors. YouTube also provides real-time analytics there. This is a platform-side check; it does not replace watching the output through LiveLAN. See YouTube’s live-streaming help and YouTube Analytics help.
Plan network capacity and expectations
LiveLAN bandwidth demand grows with the configured stream bitrate and the number of viewers. vMix’s guidance estimates demand at approximately the stream bitrate multiplied by the viewer count, plus around 10–20% overhead. For example, at 2.5 Mbps, one viewer requires about 2.5 Mbps before overhead; the overhead range is an additional planning allowance based on vMix’s guidance, not a separate measurement. vMix LiveLAN documentation.

- Choose a bitrate the local network can sustain for every simultaneous viewer.
- Expect roughly 10 seconds of typical browser delay, rather than treating LiveLAN as a real-time production monitor.
- If the second PC is on a different network, ordinary LiveLAN instructions for same-network viewing do not establish a universal remote-access setup.
Monitor from outside the local network safely
For an off-site PC, ask the network administrator to provide a secure private network path. vMix does not document one universal VPN recipe for this use. Avoid exposing the Web Controller directly to the public internet: it includes controls such as switching, shortcuts, titles, and tally, not just viewing.
vMix documents LAN-only restriction as enabled by default and warns that disabling it requires adequate firewall security. The Web Controller supports password protection and per-page access choices; vMix recommends setting a password and, when an exception is needed, making only the LiveLAN page available without a password. Check the settings and labels in your installed vMix version before changing access. See vMix Web Controller documentation.

Troubleshoot a missing or unreliable preview
- The playlist is blank or stopped: Check that the List input is playing, its items are enabled, and the input is included in the program output. Review its auto-next and loop settings if playback should continue. vMix List documentation.
- The LiveLAN page does not open: Confirm LiveLAN is selected and started in Stream Settings; use View Stream to obtain the current address. Confirm both PCs can reach each other on the local network, and check the vMix PC’s displayed IP and relevant firewall rules. Do not solve a local access problem by opening broad public access. vMix Stream Settings documentation.
- The page works but playback stutters: Compare the configured bitrate and number of viewers with available network capacity, including vMix’s stated 10–20% overhead guidance. Try a lower suitable LiveLAN quality if the network cannot sustain the current load. vMix LiveLAN documentation.
- LiveLAN looks fine but YouTube reports a problem: Check the Live Control Room’s health, status, preview, and error messages. It reports YouTube’s side of the connection, which is distinct from the local vMix output. YouTube live-streaming help.
- You need to watch from off-site: Have the network administrator establish a secure private path and preserve authentication and restrictive Web Controller access settings. Do not expose the controller publicly. vMix Web Controller documentation.
