To open the locked door in Quarry Rescue, use the forklift route to reach the laser-barrier area, put the smaller Drop Crate on its control pad, then place one tall Drop Crate on each of the two pads by the door. Both tall crates must stay on their pads at the same time.
Where the Quarry Rescue door puzzle happens
Quarry Rescue is a Valley IV side mission that unlocks after the main quest Paving the Way. Fiona, the Comms Officer, directs you to investigate Aburrey Quarry, southeast of Hub Base via Mountain Side Trail. The locked door is an obstacle partway through the mission, after combat and traversal.
How to open the locked door
- Check the door pads. There are two floor pads beside the locked gate, and each needs a tall Drop Crate.
- Reach the forklift. Go to the right of the gate and pass through the nearby shipping container. Interact with the forklift to raise the box or platform and create a climbable route.
- Climb into the laser-barrier area. Move a nearby Drop Crate beside the stacked boxes so you can climb to the raised route, then use it to get behind the laser barrier.
- Disable the laser. Inside the barrier, place the smaller Drop Crate on the separate control pad. This clears the way for the tall crates.
- Press both door pads. Move the two tall Drop Crates to the gate and set one fully on each pad. Keep the first crate in place while moving the second; the gate opens when both pads are pressed simultaneously.
If the gate does not open
- Make sure you are using the two tall Drop Crates on the door pads; the smaller crate belongs on the laser-control pad.
- Check that each tall crate is fully on its pad.
- Watch the first crate while positioning the second so it does not slide off its pad.
These checks reflect the walkthrough guidance from Nerds Chalk and Game8; the puzzle steps have not been independently tested.
What to do after opening the gate
Activate the nearby checkpoint, take the elevator up to Lifter Central, and speak with the UWST crewmate. Guide coverage says this completes Quarry Rescue and leads into Fix the Super Crane.
